    Groundbreaking EP Gary. Love the pelting fruit on the perfume sprayers. QOTD: We invariably drink wine throughout the dinner period, and finish after the meal, so I guess the percentage would be about 70% with food.

Is there anyone interested in an episode where we learn about the benefits of decanting? I’d like GV’s take on how to decide about decanting a wine you haven’t had before.

    I do love the “whether you like it or not” at the end of your sign-off as a permanent staple on the show. Keep it real and stick it to the (few) whiny nay-saying complainers who have criticized this show… whether they like it or not.

    I’m very happy you did this episode. I appreciate a traditionally oaky California Chardonnay when I taste one for being well-made, but generally don’t enjoy it much. I have this problem: I don’t like my wine to taste like butter! Big Chablis fan. Will definitely give the four vines a try soon.

    Regarding sniffing, I recently stuck my nose so deep into a glass of red (Tempranillo I think) that I actually inhaled the wine by accident, then sneezed red wine all over my shirt. I had to explain that one to my wife.

    80 percent with food, 20 without.

    QOTD: Typically, 100% of Chardonnay with food, though I enjoy un-oaked chardonnays alone. Otherwise only 30% with food, 70% without.

    Great to see naked chardonnays shining and making a great splash! Wonderful show.

    Almost all my wine is without food. Even when I have wine with food, I taste the wine alone before the meal.

    QOTD: 75% with food; 25% on its own. The ratio shifts depending on the time of the year, as I drink more white wine on its own during the warmer weather.

    Good show Gary,

    Wine with food 95% of the time, and I have wine at dinner 80% of the time. Actually, if I am drinking wine, I’m going to have a snack; especially if I’m tasting several wines.

    QOTD: 50/50. I love wine. I love food. I love wine with food. I love food with wine. I love wine without food. I love food without wine (Still looking for that good pairing with scrambled eggs. just kidding). I think that the two go hand in hand and have the ability to bring out the best in each other.

    QOTD: 85% with food, however i would like to increase the percentage of no food, as in a good glass of dessertwine on its own. Perhaps when my kids get past the baby-era.

    I actually met one really old-school wine-buff oenologue professor a couple of weeks ago. He claimed not to be ostentious about wine but he was an example of the definition of a wine-snob. He had never used Intenet but still thought that it was a bad place for experiencing wine. I instantly turned into an hermit. We’re changing the wine world.

    I am a HUGE bouquet fan, Gary! As a matter of fact, I am usually the only one at a wine tasting that does a long sniffy-sniff before tasting the wine. If they only knew what they were missing…

    QOTD: About 95% with food, and 5% without. I strongly believe that the right wine really kicks up the flavors in a meal. Food also helps it not go to my head quite as fast…

    GAry, the Kim Crawford Unoaked Chard led me to the NZ Sauvignon Blancs which I now adore and are hands down my favorite whites. Thanks for the e mail. The more mango the better as I am also a mango-head
