Had the 2005 Dry Creek Valley Fume Blanc today, over a year after this episode aired. This wine is still relatively fresh, and it really shocked me with the age on it that it wasn’t a little more gone. I think I might disagree with you on the window, but I’ll have to see if I can find some of the 2007 Fume Blanc for comparison. Not likely, given the local liquor store had the 2005 still, but I was pleased with it, and given my desire to drink more european wine and white wine in 2009, I think there was really something to like about that bottle. If you still have one laying around, or if there is another one available in town, I would love to see you taste it again sometime.

I do like it, and funny little nugget of info there on the Fume Blanc. Thats something I would never have known without this show. Thank you again and again. Obviously Ive never had one, so I’ll add it to my buy and drink list. QOTD: Falling in love and getting married. I dont need the huge salary or high profile job. I dont need the big car or the decked out house. I dont need big expensive things (ok maybe wine). All I need is someone who loves me and whom I love and Ill be very content.

I just tried a fume blanc, the 2006 Mondavi private selection and it was great. I didn’t know it was sauvignon blanc, that’s interesting.

qotd: some kind of educational technology website, or review blog or something. Grad school and work just take so much time, as well as catching up on all these past episodes.

Gary, loved the combo with the wines. Believe it or not, not all that crazy. Reminds me of high school, when I used to combine colognes to get a smell I really liked. Won’t tell you which ones cuz it will really date me. Great work!!!!
