Gary, have you ever tried the Del Datto (sp) wine? All 100% new oak, and by far the iggest oak monester in town! Also has anyone out there been to their winery? They do some coo stuff and it’s worth a trip = all tastings are barrel samples and we are talking about a large selection of – digfferent of oak and grapes. What is cool about this s they allow you to pick and choose any sample you liked, before they start their blending, to creat your own, specific to your tast, bottle.

QOTD: so on board i’m a crew member!

Kahuna where you at? I was expecting something hilarious about Gary saying “I’m ready for some wood in my mouth”

Good show & thanks for having a wine that plays nice with the Oak Monster.

Who’s the blond chick wearing the WLTV shirt in the ad link for View more schwag? Can you have her on the show? She’s cute!

Oh – good job on the Oak wines too..

Interesting episode, but let’s be honest – excessive use of oak is a New World prevision that has been hoisted on us by Robert Parker in an attempt to completely eradicate the notion of terroir. No more olive branch – PLEASE!

I liked clos apalta in 2000 and then it began to become exactly how you found it today. Great show.I’ll seek out some Scion.

Hilarious picures of you and the “O” Monster…!!

Qotd: Yes and bringing as many as I can with me!

Never had the Clos Apalta but i’m a huge fan of chilean wines. So i was very happy to see that you lined up that wine in this episode, specially at the end. So bad it didn’t delivered. Maybe the 04’s are a bit austere. I had the Don Melchor 04 and it was really good. Maybe i should stick to that one or the Alpha M.
    I’m an oak monster fan.

Gary likes the wood in his mouth, and sniffing toe fungus? Hey, not like there’s anything wrong with that. You know who else likes wood? Termites. I enjoy drinking fruit, not tree bark. But I can’t entirely bash the oak, seriously. I do enjoy the creamy vanilla chardonnay from time to time – especially if my wife puts a gun to my head and forces me to eat at California Pizza Kitchen. (Hey, just kidding, CPK TCB, know what I mean?) Bottom line: Gary, your working life is wine, you’ve devoted yourself to teaching us about the noble grapes, and massive respect to you for that. It’s a massive hobby for me now, and you’re a big reason for that. Thanks, and keep wining!

Good to see you embracing your inner wood. it was quite a cathartic show.

my favorite #59 is one of the Browns finest…. Mike Johnson. Solid linebacker for years and if the Browns could have ever beaten the Broncos, he would not be a secret. Mr. Johnson, I have not forgotten you.

Gary, remember Bernie throwing for 489 yards against the Jets in the 1986 playoffs? I don’t want to get banned from the site but that was a great memory from childhood. Double OT game ending with Mark Moseley’s FG. 23-20. Of course, Elway ended the joy with a 98 yard drive that I will never be able to forget. You may have seen it. Unless, of course, you’re headless!!!

enough of that… Great pics with Mr. Oak Monster. you guys make a great couple. Glad to see you made up.

Damnit Gary, you made me spit wine all over my keyboard! I must say you and the oak monster make a cute couple. I’ve never liked much oak but in the last week i’ve had an 04′ numanthia with alot of oak that’s very well integrated that was extremely delicious. I’ve also had a barolo, an 01′ brunello riserva and Ribera del duero riserva that were so over-oaked and tannic that I couldn’t even drink them. That’s never happened to me before. What a waste of $250!
