Very interesting episode, it’s interesting to hear about prime wines from the same region that are so different. Hearing about that jammy multi-fruit reduction made me drool! I can’t wait to try it, even for $65 bones. The problem i’ve had is that the bordeauxs that i’ve had have been consistently underwhelming. I can find spanish wines at half the price that bring alot more thunder. I want to second the thought of the earlier commenter who recommended a 100% petit verdot episode, I love the obscure grapes.

QOTD – this is a toughy. I really couldn’t think of a story, but I’ll tell you the truth. WLTV has turned me into a web blog geek and I have no interest in becoming one. Really. I spend enough time on the computer each day. I don’t need to spend more. But with the videos and the cork’d and the forms… it has sucked me in. Giant suck. Giant suck in a good way.

Geez, I used to be a lurker. Now look, I’m posting all the time. Suckity suck.

Good show Gary. I stumbled on WLTV a week or so ago, and big kudos! I’m at a point in my wine life where I have been seeking out old world wines-and your take on them enhances and offers a good bit of direction. keep it up!
BTW, being more of a college football junkie myself, any thoughts on what goes well with a Sooners gameday BBQ?

    Gary –

Great show. Again. The Pichons rule… and it was great to see them being tasted side-by-side by someone who knows what they’re talking about and speaks my language.

You should do St. Julien next… Bordeaux rules!

Question: I have some 1975 Lalande that were actually re-corked in 1993 (it says so on the cork but the label is the same as the original Pichon Lalande 1975). It was acquired in Paris by my dad, from a reputable wine store. How often (and why) does that happen?

iPhone: include “name of WLTV member that recommended you to WLTV” as a registration question and give the iPhone to whoever gets the most votes in the next 30 days.

    Best,

QOTD : I’ve got kids entertained by the Thunder Cats and the over the top hasgaryjumpthedtheshark.com not even knowing what Yellow Tail is but they enjoy the over the top performance and saying “that guy should be on SNL”. I’ve got my parents wondering why I want to wear a wine library TV wrist band while I try odd wines from Spain while watching tasting notes on line with Gary Vay-ner-chuk …. it is an educational, entertaining whirlwind

QOTD: WLTV is more than just a wine show – it’s a show about how to live life to the fullest. When I introduce the phenomenon of WLTV I tell people, “Even if you do not like wine you will gain wisdom.” Who else reminds us to tell our loved ones that we love them everyday? Who else can turn a beverage into a board game? Who else calls their grandma “Grandmammie”? GV: you do not just drink wine and tell people what it tastes like – you are a Life Coach!

Been watching for a few weeks – sorry to lurk – but I did tell a bunch of friends about the show at a wedding this weekend. BTW, I miss the ‘…whether you like it or not’

    Thanks!

Great show Gary. Bordeaux got me into wines; it was a 2000 Graves which name I can’t recall at the moment, and it was a revelation for my palate, I had no idea wine could be so good. My cellar now has wine from all over the world, and I love how a great bottle is able to seduce the senses. However, Bordeaux keeps calling me back.
    Cheers!

Alright Gary, you win, the threat of not being able to watch you every night as I enjoy a glass of wine is too great, I can’t lurk in the shadows anymore. I have been watching since like episode 50 and even convinced my wife to comment for a while until she got a new job. How ’bout giving the I-phone to the person who guesses what the big announcement is? I mean, its gotta be a new and improved Cork’d.com right? Can’t wait, and I will use it!

Nice shot with the cork! How long have you been trying to do that one?

Great show can’t wait for the big announcement! Or the THUNDERCAT TAKEOVER!

Glad to see that even though the Jets “won” you were able to admit that the Giants starters won. I feel both teams have some big issues but we shall see who can correct the most by the time they face off again when it counts for real!

OK so here is a quick story about WLTV….

I work at a tasting room on the weekends and meet many people while doing so. Earlier this month I was pouring wine for a lady who was a local wine writer. Her and I began a fun conversation about local wines etc. I began to mention my Sacramento wine web site to her and she was very interested, in fact she wanted to link her blog up to my site. She then asked me if I have ever heard of WLTV because she thought I would enjoy the way Gary approached wine. All I had to do was hold up my arm and flash her the old school black WLTV wristband, I then poured her some Petite Verdot and said “this wine really brings the thunder!” …..TRUE STORY FOLKS

as far as the iphone is concerned, i could care less about getting one. i’m not really into iAnything.

there, i commented. Now back to my usual lurking. =)

    Gary -

Another great show. Some more wines on my list to try.

QOTD: How about a photo contest for the most unusual location (maybe furthest from the Wine Library Store), display and/or use of a Wine TV Wristband or T-shirt? Of course you’ll have to weed out the scary people.

You could give the i phone to the person who de-lurked the most people – former lurkers could testify that they were brought out of lurkdom by the person competing for revealing the most lurkers.

QOTD: Clearly I’m not spending enough time talking about WLTV. I surely should have a funny story by now. Only poignant stories about T shirts I have to return but haven’t gotten around to doing it.

Just some random flotsam and jetsam, Gar. To add to the comments. Don’t really understand the angst there, what with thousands of e-mails coming in. And I find it gets tiresome trying to read all of 100+ comments for each ep.

Two guys who could afford cases of the last two wines would be Jobs and the CEO of the iPhone carrier (AT&T?). Maybe you could hit them up to donate an iPhone each so’s you could give away 3 of ‘em. And a MacbookPro, and…

So you’re moving on from the Vay-ner-chuk! How about doing the same for the “day” every time “de” appears on a French wine label? Try swallowing it as an inconsequential sort of word whisker. Hell, you Yanks are doing your best to eliminate “of” from the literature anyway. My $0.02 (CDN) contribution to “Reading Wine Labels”. (Just a “couple observations”).

    One last – Thundercats, meh!

But _loving_ WLTV and GV !!

QOTD: Because of WLTV I have eaten roses, pine needles, pine sap, ferns, moss, grass, wet leaves, and several kinds of “terroir,” and have a better palate for it.

Keeping it real! Love it. Keep up the good work.

Sorry for not leaving comments, Gary. Truth is I watch the show over iTunes so I don’t have the comment page readily available when I watch the show…
Good luck with the Thundercats. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything to contribute as I was always a GI Joe fan myself…
As for the iPhone giveaway, how about choosing a random name from one of the posters in the comment section? Just pick a random show from an upcoming week and add those names in to a hat, then draw out a name. Winner! That should drive up your comments and hopefully lure some lurkers.

QOTD: My now current girlfriend works in PR for Kendall Jackson and had never heard of WLTV before we met. Demonstrating to her my intimate knowledge of the world’s most popular wine vlog helped me seduce her.

Pauillac RULES…thanks for the episode. Man, you always talk about how much you like Petit Verdot…, do not you think it’s about time that you’ve had an episode dedicated only to PV. I personally have not had a 100% PV and would like to see you trying some widely available ones with thunder potential…
QOTD: For the iPhone, I do not have a contest idea, but my suggestion is to give it as a present to the #1 fan of your show who has posted the largest number of comments so far…This person deserves it… and maybe if you announce that every 6 months you’ll be doing your statistics and rewarding the person who comments the most, then possibly you’d convert some of the lurkers..
    Cheers,
    GD

Hey Gary, Great show. Love Bordeaux. QOTD: I went in BevMo with my oak monster T-shirt on, and one of the employees recognized the shirt and watches the show too. After talking with him, I found out he’s a lurker. I thought that was funny.

Thank-you for my birthday present. After all these years I am excited to find a phenomenon that I must have and share with others. My husband and I then my sons and a girlfriend. Then my sister. Her ex, a caterer.Former football coach. They bought me wine…good wine. We watch. We are hooked. We have seen maybe 4 or 5 episodes. Where have you been? We are with you now. You are something else. This Montreal family has been touched by your wise and brilliant (just a little scary) foray into the jungle that is wine.
