    OK, Gary
Your lurker call out has finally flushed me out. I have been lurking for all of the 301 episodes (I see there is one going on now, but I get my episodes from FeedBlitz). SO, I am the longest lurker possible (until the next one who fesses up, of course).
I have also sampled wines with you on both occasions that you sent them out in advance.
I have to admit that I am somewhat disappointed in the Rioja and Malbec we tasted for episode 300 – even after leaving them open for one and two days after uncorking, I find the tannins sufficiently unpleasant that I would not buy more. This is in contrast to the 2003 Lindaflor Malbec that my wife and I adore now (we got a half case of that on your recommendation).
Well, you will have to get someone else to fess up to lurking now, as I am off of that list.

Great show. I was looking for a little somethin’ to replace the usual Chianti with pasta meals.

QOTD: I’ve only had one and that was 2005 G. D. Vajra Dolcetto D’Alba, it was cheap due to some label damage so I figured that I’d try it. I enjoyed it, it was a little more fruity but still very old world if I remember correctly. I really should start keeping a wine journal.

One question: Is that the type of wine that should be decanted to open it up a little if it is still a little young, or is it open enough since it’s meant to be drunk young anyway? I decanted mine just for the heck of it…

  54. August 28, 2007

    Badger Ann

QOTD: I’ve never tried a Dolcetto, but I’ll try this weekend!

BTW – caught your picture today inside the B-section of the Wall Street Journal!

  55. August 28, 2007

    Sassodoro

QOTD: Had Dolcetto many times. In fact, one of our cats is named Dolcetto, because he is a little sweet one. Actually, he is a rather large cat, so I guess he should be named Dolcone or Dolcione or Dolciano, or something like that. (Any Italian speakers out there?)

Favorite Dolcetto (apart from our cat)? My wife and I are partial to Vietti’s Dolcetto. My wife says it smells like gardenias. I have also enjoyed Einaudi’s Dolcetto (which I believe is from Dogliani).

You did mention that Dolcetto is meant to be drunk young, and I want to emphasize that. I bought too much Dolcetto at one point, and it didn’t keep as well as I had hoped. That beautiful floral thing doesn’t seem to last past a few years.

  56. August 28, 2007

    GPS

Gary, Diggin the geo-facts about Dolcetto!
I got a little lost with the nose described as a “sweaty jock strap”. I’ve never actually “sniffy sniffed” a sweaty jock strap before! If anyone ever asks I’ll tell em you said it smells like Dolcetto!

QOTD: Nope, but I’m going to get one right now.

  57. August 28, 2007

    amgryger

    Great show.

I love the Piemonte. When I die, I want to go to Piemonte.

QOTD: Of course I have had it. Would be kind of hard to pick of favorite because in my experience, most of the producers in this region are really good at what they do. Though I’ve been meaning to try the Marziano Abonna Dolcetto Dogliani that my usual shop carries because the Barbaresco I had from this producer was really solid. I’ll probably bump it up on my list of wines I want to try.

  58. August 28, 2007

    Craig MacDonald

Outstanding show! I’m on my way to my local retailer for his bi-weekly wine tasting and while I’m there I’ll be looking for some Dolcetto!
While I watched this episode I used MS Virtual Earth to look at Piedmont and Alba. Cool! You can see the vineyards west of the city.
I also went back and watched episode 212. Dude!!
FWIW, if you do a wine tasting for the iPhone choose something widely available across the country for those of us who live in states where it’s illegal to buy wine from out of state and have it shipped in. (One of the few downsides of life in AZ.)
QOTD – give me an hour.

  59. August 28, 2007

    vivaitalia

That was a very intersting episode. I obviously love Italian wines and it’s just so hard to find decent values except for puglia and sicily. Nice to hear about the dogliani region having the fruitier wines because I thought everything from the piedmont was old world. Maybe sometime you can do an episode on primitivo from southern italy. I think it’s a great alternative to overpriced Zin from California.

Good job Gary, love Dolcetto. Can’t say I have a favorite, though. Probably just need to drink more of them, I’ll get right on that.

WOW……What a great show. I’m really big on Italian reds and these four were all good juice!!

QOTD: I haven’t had a Dolcetto in many years, but it’s time to renew my acquaintance with these.

This show really got me pumped for the Italian pinot noir.

    Hay gary,
Here’s my Iphone bid – perhaps you have this in the works for cork’d but its way too hard to find a wine you’ve tried (I worked hard to fill in 5 or 6) so why not change the interface to ‘know’ something about wine – for example – integrate it with winelibrary’s database, then turn it in to a digg for wine – put a badge on the wine – thunder it or something. There needs to be a zeitgeist of what people are enjoying and a counter to the staggering problem of selection in the wine store- there are thousands of bottles, where’s the Amazon for wine so I can read reviews before I buy?
Well, of course there is you, but you can only drink so much, and some of your stuff is hard to find. I think providing a very simple, easy to use interface is the key. More wines need to be entered and more ‘action’ of people contributing a ‘digg’ and even a short review is better than the myriad of ‘vintage, producer, year, varietal’ sheesh- give me a label I can spot in a store and a ‘try it’ rating and let me make up my own mind.
Oh, make it cell phone friendly, I tried to pull up the vayner database in the store once, not good…

    Cheers

  64. August 28, 2007

    Martin

Very inspirational show. Probably 70% of the wines I drink are Italian and I’ve been wanting to try some Dolcetto for several months but keep pushing it down the list. You’ve pushed me over the edge and will certainly be seeking it out this weeked.

    GV,

Just a word of encouragement and thanks for all the helpful information you give from episode to episode. I live about 40 min out of Paso Robles. As a wine newbie, I’ve haven’t strayed very far from what I’ve been able to taste locally. Seeing your show has been a real education and gives tremendous exposure to wines that I would not otherwise dare to invest in. Thank you very much! Keep up the great work. I’m afraid that since watching you, my wine wish list has grown larger than my budget! Am I the only one? So thanks for the reviews. Keep them coming! And if you get a chance to review some Justin wines – like their Isosceles – I’d love to see how you rate them. I had their 99 and it “brought the thunder!”

Great show. Four out of four winners. I’ve never been much of a fan of Italian wines for some reason, although I keep thinking of the antifreeze/wine scandal from about 10-15 years ago. Maybe I expect to die if I drink much Italian wine. Will definitely seek out some dolcetto soon.

    Informative to learn your “secret.”

QOTD: No I have not and I guess the reason would be that I’ve never read much positive press about them when I have the opportunity to have a nice Barolo or Montepulicano. I guess I will need to order some and try it.

No gravatars is really depressing but not enough to to bother me. Spanking the Saints on natl TV will work.

I hope prices don’t go up now. You are afterall the freshmaker.

QOTD: Luciano Sandrone Dolcetto, soft so so soft. A totally complete package. Like this beautiful girl that’s hot, yet sweet and proper.

Hey Gary, Yes, Dolcetto I had by pure luck. Was on business in NYC, picked a bottle on the wine list out of the blue at Po’ in the village. Great wine with the pasta dinner. I was thrilled you coverd it on the show. Now the word is out!

  73. August 28, 2007

    E

You got me, Comrade Vaynerchuk. Barbaresco – check, Langhe nebbiolo – check, barbera d’alba – check, but no Dolcetto I think.

I don’t think they have any here, so if there’s any Altare left by the time shipping season arrives, it’s in there.

You don’t like Italian restaurants? At all? Northern Italian, southern Italian, nothing? And you’re in Jersey? I think that deserves its own show. What’s the story there? Bad experience?

Hey Gary, great show as usual.

QOTD: The only Dolcetto I’ve drunk on a regular basis is the Australian Dolcetto/Syrah blend made by the King Valley producer Brown Brothers. A very light style that is often served slightly chilled. I reckon it’s about perfect for breakfast on a hot Australian day, though it’s a huge hit with my girlfriend anytime.

Thunder Show, indeed. Thanks for the schooling. Business dinner tomorrow, looking forward to putting some of what you’ve taught to practical use on the co.’s dime (but I’ll be going at a higher price point than the Dolcetto)

    Secret revealed!

    I’ve got it!

    Chief,

    TOT SER?

    Would you believe, anagram?

    (Cone of silence lowers)

Would you believe we’re all getting $723.61 worth of TORTES from WL’s gourmet dept., YESSSSS!

    Am I warm? No, huh?

Would you believe you’ve scraped up some OTTERS from Rte 78 and you’ll be distributing roadkill to expand the collective Vayniac palate?

What did I win, chief? (please let it be a weekend with 99)

QOTD: Not yet, but I will.

…and before anyone pooh poohs my theory I did rewatch 212 and Gary did reference roadkill as a good pairing with the 2004 Villard Gallets Blanc Cote Rotie.

This was a SUPERB episode — destined to become a WLTV classic.

QOTD: no, I have never even heard of Dolcetto before today. And given my meager budget (thanks to the alinomy), it is smack damn-dabbledydoo in my price range. I will be buying some tomorrow, right after I get off work.

    Grape Expectations

Here’s my two cents for today. (Running total for the week, four cents.)

QOTD: I don’t believe I’ve ever had a dolcetto. However, I’m going to Italy in a couple of weeks and while I won’t exactly be in Piemonte, I’ll be close. So I think I will save my initial dolcetto experience for the native soil from which it springs.

  97. August 28, 2007

    WineShopChic

Nice ending…. feeling a bit like a memorial show ending, but hey – enjoyed it! Definately made me want to check out a couple shows that I missed!!!

QOTD: I like Dolcetto, I like Sicilian wines best, but have only had a handful of Dolcettos. So… No names in front of me at the moment.

Ps- Amarone rocks …. some ripasso do, bring the Thunder!

i-phone idea: Maybe you could have a contest where people create an intro for you to your Thunder-Show, then whichever one you pick gets the i-phone as a quasi-payment. At least then the winner totally earns it.

    Great episode as always GV!

    guyincongers

Well I thought i would kill a few birds with one stone here.

First, a LURKER here with the Dolcetto episode being my tenth…plus a few of your past favorite episodes. I love your philosophy on wine, and consider it crucial in educating new consumers of wine. New winedrinkers have been recently bombarded by mass marketing campaigns of unworthy juice drinks with some alcohol, dare I say one…Ye*****ail. (bleeped because it’s considered a bad word in my apartment). Unfortunately this advertising blitz is not only being listened to, but being followed. It’s nice to see a genuine interest in wine, and more importantly a genuine interest in delivering a accurate and unbiased (sorta ;-p) knowledge to all consumers.

Second, I just wanted to say thank you for what you are doing. Having just recently passed my first Sommelier course with the SSA in NYC, I find your blog a great transition until I start my courses with the ASA in January. Not only are you refreshing my memory….but inspiring and educating me on many new elements, concepts, and themes of the wine world. I give the blog site not only to my employees and friends, but to as many patrons of the restaurant to which I manage in midtown.

Third, the QOTD! I have tasted Dolcetto in the past at tastings but never have really consumed a bottle with a meal and for my own enjoyment. Watching the blog and smelling the preperation of Camanelle with meatsauce by roomates gave me a great idea! I strolled around the corner of my apartment in queens and purchased Docetto D’Alba by Perincance, a 2005 with 13.5%. I opened and decanted in my oversized platic Mets cup, then enjoyed the first glass with the pasta. Sad to say the way too overly spiced pasta destroyed the wine, but at first thought it reminded me of a young beaujolais. The second glass to which I am enjoying now really gives the wine justice. Your right on with the Walla Walla refernece. This wine remeinds me of some northern climate California pinot’s as well as most definitely many of Oregon’s boutique pinot’s to which people pay up to $70.00 for. Thanks to your blog I am going to keep my eye on Dolcettto for my guests as a great transition wine at my next meal. An excellent price point…this bottle was only $13.95!!!

You are a psycho! QOTD – have never had Dolcetto, but plan to very soon. I read about it in a book called “Romancing the Vine” which was really more about Barolo, but they talked about Dolcetto quite a bit and I wanted to try it since then. Based on your reviews, it looks like it is a definite high QPR.

Outstanding episode Signore Vaynerchuk. I really want to get to know more Italian wines and the language for that matter as it is poetry. Thanks for letting us in on the Dolcetto affair. I’ve enjoyed Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Primitivo and Barbera but now I’m excited about trying this wine.

If you are unsure about your selection in a wine store sometimes price can be the only reference of quality that you have. The little tasting notes that are under the bottles and the scores many times are from a different vintage…If you have similar taste in wine with the shop owner or wineseller then it might be safe to try a recommendation. Then there is bottle variation which can make a wine taste different from the last time you drank it. The high quality to price ratio exceptions are what I’m always seeking. You delivered on that in this episode. I enjoyed the Lodi Zinfandel from Ravenswood that I would never have purchased if you hadn’t tasted it on your show. Thanks for widening my wine world Gary.

Very informative today. Vayniacs can keep a secret. We will keep all the Dolcetto’s to ourselves.

QOTD: I haven’t enjoyed a full glass of Dolcetto, but I think I remember trying one at the Boston Wine Expo last year. I know it’s supposed to be a ‘young grape,’ but can it age well, too?

GV. QOTD;Yes I have had a dolcetto, I was on vacation in Italy, and I was on a quest to try as many different varietals as possible, unfortunately I don’t remember if it was one of the quality wines I sampled, or just a good quaff. There were no bad wines, I do need to try dolcetto again.

Hey Gary, been a long time since ive been able to catch a whole episode and it was really good to be back, i enjoyed it. Of course ive have had dolcetto, lots of barbera too – as you said, great pasta wines and i eat a lot of pasta. I am actually having the 04 Peccenino San Luigi this weekend down the shore. I was surprised you segued from suggestins of Aussie/Spain to floral/rose petals. Rose petals are a classic Barolo note and I dont think being aromatic/floral/rosey connotes new world necessarily. Certainly a matter of personal taste, but perhaps unfair to suggest thats a new world/fruit bomb trait. Ill have to grab a bottle. Nice episode, thanks again.

Great show!!! QOTD: I’ve had lots of Dolcettos (or is it Dolcetti?) Like you said, they’re easy to drink, great with food, and inexpensive. I guess that’s why I don’t remember any of the winemakers.

QOTD: I had a dolcetto d’alba at Trattoria Nostrani (a fragrance free environment) in Santa Fe. The wine was great – I had it with scallops. I passed the sniffy sniff. They said they kick people out every night for being fragrant. I couldn’t wait to get home and waft on some Jicky (my favorite). I would like to drink more dolcettos too.

    wooohooo TOP 120 again!!!
QOTD – Yes I have had dolcetto.
Many times, my little sweet one.
Enzo Boglietti is one producer that comes to mind.

so for episode 212 – what was the deal – you wanted to remind us of (a) your confession of stealing from KMart, (b) the “your momma told you you don’t get nuttin for free” line (i never got a wristband by the way), (c) your theory that 16 bones for dolcetto is a good deal – almost like returning shaquille o’neil figurines to kMart, or (d) you really like two buck chuck wines but can’t admit it because you truly want to be a wine snob.
I suppose all will reveal itself shortly.

    wishing you the best.

    Gary,

Been listening a couple weeks. Really diggin it. Dolcetto is the secret! It’s definitely one of my favorites. There is this great brand (I’m not sure if it is a producer or an importer) that I think you should check out called Gagliardo, they do a Dolcetto d’Alba, a Fallegro (really delicious), and a few others. The Dolcetto though has a little hint of effervescence to it, like a flat soda, can’t really explain why, but it’s very refreshing and my favorite with pasta. If you know why this Dolcetto has a hint of carbonation I’d be very interested, I’ve had other Dolcetto’s that don’t have this, and truth be told I liked them less. What is your take?

Great episode Gary. The first and best dolcetto I’ve had was in fact the Elio Altare (2004 I believe) that I had in a great restaurant in Alba. They are delicious wines and so often great values as well. I will say that I wish I had a wine library here in the SF bay area, the ‘05 Altare was selling for $25 around here.

P.S. Your boy Tom Brady’s new son’s initials are JET. I can’t believe you didn’t mention this.

  136. August 29, 2007

    onemore

QOTD: I’ve had Dolcetto only twice that I recall, and neither occasion was recent. Sometimes I see it in stores and almost pick it up–but I’m often lured away by a bottle of something else. Next time I’m at the wine shop, I’ll definitely grab a Dolcetto. “Next time” = within the next 2 days.

And see, I came out of lurkaholic mode again, just a few days ago, to play around with Cork’d. And I like your iPhone giveaway idea. And: good episode. AND when I was in college, I had a professor whose pet peeve was “And” as the start of a sentence–which was too bad for him, because it’s something I’ve done for 30something years and his aggravation merely resulted in blue book exams from me that were intentionally full of “And [words]” sentences. And this is why it’s dangerous to give me a place to ramble like this (oh how I ramble), though this was somehow tied to your Thundershow title explanation somehow when I first started down this tangent (don’t ask me how; hell if I know).

And… yeah, that’s all I got for now.

Except for this: The Altare Dolcetto D’alba sounds right up my alley. I’ll be sad if I can’t find it anywhere.

  137. August 29, 2007

I can’t believe you like stinky Febreeze better than matches. With your nose, I had assumed you would be repulsed by anything over-the-top perfumey in an aerosol can. Next thing I know, you’ll be telling us you use Axe body spray on a regular basis. It’s like saying you’d rather have a Mollydooker than a hermitage. …I guess there is always the danger of burning the house down though.

QOTD: I’ve never had a Dolcetto, I’m sorry to say. I’d go out and buy one right now, but I’m out of luck in this area. I guess I’ll just have to wait until you resume shipping to NV :P ;)

QOTD: I have had a Barbera from Alba but not a Delcetto. One of the favorite dishes my wife cooks is spaghetti and meatballs. It’s a spicy one made with bay leaves and cloves. I’d love to try a Delcetto with this meal!

    John Witherspoon (J DUB)

Awesome! We here at the Witherspoon house love Dolcetto. I have to say that it is a recent occurrence, starting about the end of June when we went to Piemonte. Dolcetto is great, and you think it is cheap here, take out the cost of distribution and it is ridiculous. AND GOOD!!!

Now knowing about Dolcetto, I do see it menus under the Italian wine section and it is always the best value, which is great. I would have completely overlooked it over 3 months ago. ALthough I have to admit I would have overlooked other Piemonte wines 4-5 months ago because I did not really know that much about Barolo and Barberesco, except the fact that they are made from Nebbiolo. Both Dolcetto and Barbera are great values from Piemonte.

QOTD: Don’t have any favorites, haven’t had one we didn’t like. Both Rizzi and Rivetto make great ones.

QOTD: Yes, I believe I had Dolcetto once in my wines of the world course in college – I want to say it was one of our Washington wines we tried, but i’ll have to check – could be Italy. I do remember liking it though. It takes a lot for me to really like a red, let alone remember it, so it must have been great. Definitely going back through my notes tonight to check it out- might have to buy some more next time I have some cash.

I can’t wait to try the Altare. Your description of it set me on fire….I love all the stuff you found in this wine.

I had a 2005 Ca’ Viola Dolcetta d’Alba Barturot ($29.99 vs $16 for Altare)as part of a Tre Biccheri wine tasting last night. It was extremely good with beautiful, full flavored, rich cherries on nose and palate and excellent balance, but none of the earthy, truffly, sweat-sock, animal that you got from the Altare. Where are you when I need you, Altare?

QOTD: I have had many, but forget which ones, mainly because I OD’d on them. I was turned off by a few clunkers (S. Orsola in particular) and have not been interested since. I have since turned to Chinon. MMm…..

    Great show gary.
I know what i’ll be tasting this weekend.
How bout a barbera episode? (if you haven’t already…i should really use the search function)

Also…you got me interested in Walla Walla now, i did some poking around and found someone making sangiovese! In washington! (perhaps not totally odd…but i wasn’t expecting that..shows what i know)
Definitely going to check that out asap.

    Hi,
Does anyone know the episode # for the very last clip on this show? It was the one with Gary on the couch and he chewed on something and spit it out and poured some Champagne in his mouth. It looked really funny! I can’t find the episode though.

QOTD: I have tried Dolcettos, I’m very interested in them although I know very little. My first was from Bonny Doon, and as per California, was a fruit bomb, at least compared to the way you’re describing them. I loved it. I then moved into Italian, of which I know nothing. My second Dolcetto then was at a restaurant, Cascina Bruciate, again I just picked it. It was good, not great. Then I picked up one from a store and it was horrible, like balsamic vinegar but not sour. Yuk. But I’m still going to try them.

Another good show and another couple wines I need to try, thanks.

Do not remember trying Dolcetto, looking forward to it.

QOTD – Yes, I’ve had a few Dolcettos. I haven’t had any noteworthy ones except a glass that I got at some bar that had a bit of a gasoline-flavor-infusion that was at first absurdly disgusting but then really grew on me. But I never found out the name of the producer.

Great show, and the montage at the end was awesome. Dolcetto is very under-rated, and it’s sad. There are some lesser known areas producing great Dolcetto in Piemonte. We import one from Ovada, and it’s awesome. Although I like Dolcetto better, when we present it at tastings next to the Barbera, the crowd leans towards the Barbera. More for me.

QOTD: Favorite is either ours, (I wouldn’t import it otherwise), or the Pecchenino Dolcetto di Dogliani Siri d’Jermu. Ours: Seiterre Dolcetto d’Ovada Superiore DOC.

Gary, I’m a pretty old vayniac – I’ve been watching since about episode #60. When watching this Dolcetto episode, I’ve realised how much I’ve learned about wine thanks to your vlog. I do read a lot about wine, I do go to wine-tastings and contests, I do try undiscovered, but there’s always something on your show, that makes me feel like “oh, I’ve learned something new once again”. Thank you so so much for this great feeling.

I’ll definitely have to find this now in the wine shop….or if we don’t have it, I’ll most certainly lobby for some shelf space. Thanks introducing me to another new type of wine.

QOTD I had a dolcetto in the trattoria that sits directly below the tower in barbaresco that you see on the produttori labels. Had it with one of the simplest but most amazing food experiences i have had…a wonderful egg noodle pasta…so basic but soooo fresh… all followed by one of the best tasting times i have had in barbaresco.

QOTD: Just drank the 2005 Enzo Boglietti Dolcetto d’Alba Tiglineri earlier this week. It was my first Dolcetto but definately won’t be my last. I can really see why it’s the wine you order at a restaurant.

Well I tried the Dolcetto D’Alba Bricco Galluccio Destfanis like I said I would and all I can say is wow. I brought it to a blind tasting of reds we had at a friends house and everyone loved it. Nobody there ever had a Dolcetto before and all were surprised by it. At only 15 bucks from Bevmo we all agreed it was a steal. So once again thanks Gary and the crew at Wine Library for making my world a little better.

I’ve recently enjoyed the Castello dei Poggio Dolcetto, which is DOC Monferatto. Very drinkable, with both black and red fruit, nice sweet oak, dried fruit, fruitcake; nice complexity for about $19.

    Hi Gary,
please tell me, how do you evaluate colour. You are saying on the show that this colour is better than that colour, this is the best colour…
I don´t really go too crazy about the colour and rather think that it is an indicator for grape type, age of wine, region of production and vintage and don´t really rate the colour because it doesn´t have much influence on the enjoyment.
Do you think that a Shiraz from Barossa Valley has a “better” colour than a Pinot Noir from Nuits-Saint-Georges and should be therefore rated higher?!
And please: If you really like a region and rave about it take ten seconds to learn how to pronounce the name. Peeet mon tae!? A new kind of martial arts or a region in the north west of Italy.
    Sincerely, Konst

Have been trying to learn about Italian wines. I’d say I’ve liked 90% of the Dolcettos I’ve tried, 100% of the Brunellos, and only 50% of the Barberas or Chiantis… So for $15 Dolcetto is definitely near the top of my list!

For the price Dolcetto replaced Barbera for my go-to pasta wines long ago. Actually, at 12-16 bucks they have gone up in price but still a good value.

Dolcetto etto etto eh eh eh | FOOD WINE REVIEW

[...] Wine Library TV episode #302 inspired this post and my drink of choice tonight. Native to the Piedmont region of Italy, Dolcetto is often overshadowed by the leading nebiolo and barbera grape varieties. As a result, Dolcetto frequently yields tremendous QPR. Onto the wine… [...]

I believe it was an Abbona Dolcetto di Dogliani?

Gary, I love Dolcetto as well, it always seems to have great balance and character. The QOTD is hard to answer(Italian wine names are difficult to remember) but I really enjoyed the Altare that we had with my wife’s beef stroganoff a few nights ago. Congratulations on your very well deserved success.

You mentioned rose aspect in wine, one of my favorite whites, Kim Crawford 06′ Marlborough Sauv. Blanc after breathing for 2-2.5 hours was strait rose pedal on the bouquet. I’ve been looking for that in a lot of wine i buy. great with duck for some reason.

I had my doctor’s appointment yesterday. I’m doing fine. My diet’s over. I’m drinking wine again. I’m having my first delcetto ever. It’s 2006 lo Zoccolaio Delcetto d’Alba. I’m liking it. Thanks Gary. It’s taking me back to an earlier time I can’t identify. To me this is real red wine. I need to try some more delcettos.

Probably the second comment I have left on this episode. I have tried dolcetto since. I enjoy Di Dogliani best up to now. They tend to be more robust which I enjoy. I’ve had a Vigna del Pilone 2003 and 2005 and the Contrevent di Alba 2005. Tonight, I am drinking a Pecchenino Siri D’Jermu 2005. Awesome stuff! Thank you Gary!
