    :-)
TKS GV for putting yourself out to tape some shows for us this week, You da’ Man!

QOTD: I’ve had a couple Cayuse and will be getting more sent to me in a month I believe… I’m a sucker for those big Syrahs…. But poopy diapers?? not too sure ;-)

Thank you for differentiating between “terroir” and “vegetal, earth flavors.” Great episode today.

QOTD: Terra Blanca 2002 Reserve Syrah. Concentrated? Oh yeah! Blueberries all day long. Steve-O, you know what I’m talking about.

QOTD: Hogue Genesis Cabernet 2001 has been tasting pretty good over the last year

QOTD (now that I’ve listened to the question): No favorites stand out. I know I’ve had at least a handful of great Washington wines, but I can also remember a few dogs, too. Will have to get a couple for the weekend.

QOTD – First one that comes to mind is Eroica. It’s obviously awesome, and a crowd pleaser.

    Fun ep.
At a recent Vayniac tasting in Seattle we shared some Washington thunder: a Sorenson 2003 Cab Franc, 100% I believe; a 2004 Silver Lake Cab/Merlot blend out of Rattlesnake Hills; a 2003 Betz, their Clos de Betz blend, from Columbia Valley; and a 2003 Reininger Syrah out of Walla Walla. All serious wines, all interesting approaches. Washington is producing distinctive, unique flavor profiles harder and harder to find in Cali. Good juice.

    QOTD-
Quicelda Creek Cab or Cayuse Bionic Frog

qotd: haven’t had a whole lot of WA wines, but so far, definitely the Eroica.

QOTD: Washington wines all over the place with Chat. Ste Michelle. Their reisling is my house white refresher and they have some excellent red wines in the mix. I’ve also had a few pinot noirs from Wash., but names fail me.

    Poopalicious!

Funny, a reviewer on CellarTracker (which I hope to not be using after Corkd is done with its upgrade) described the syrah’s bouquet as a, “Wonderful nose of red flowers and macerated raspberries” What?!? No poop? Ah, the joy and mystery of wine.

QOTD: Many very good ones–but no one that stands out as my fav.

267!?! Cripes! Are we really counting down *again*?

AotD: Haven’t had a WA wine yet.

Hmmm: lets see, Greatest Wa State Wine ?
Well the 2003 or 2004 Waterbrook cab for $17 cant be beat.

But If ya wanna spend some bones a $40 J Bookwalter Cab is pretty much the cream of the crop $

    AND NO POOP !!!!!
Unless you wanna add some of your own (lol)

QOTD: I had a 1987 Cold Creek (Chat. Ste Michelle?) Cabernet Sauvignon
on a date in a nice little Seattle restaurant in ‘95 that was very
    memorable.

Gotta love any show that gives you a fart in a glass and the host goes back for a second whiff. QOTD: not any Washington wines come to mind. I guess I’m waiting for about 6 weeks till I fly out there with my girlfriend to tour. Besides the wines tasted, any suggestions for stops??

Never had a Washington wine that I can recall. I just “migrated” to an Oregon wine (the Benton Hill Pinot Gris which I like) so Washington state should be next.

I didn’t know wine could fart, did the fart bring the thunder? I know a few of mine do.

Man, I have to go to the bathroom after watching this show. QOTD: 00′ L’ecole Cab from WWV. I wasn’t expecting much, then, my wife and I tasted it and WOW did it change my mind on washington state. Glad the L’ecole was featured today.

267 – until barrel tasting party OR blending party for the top 5?

Great ep. GV – been looking for some Washington Cab Sauv and Syrah to try and think I just found a few thanks to you!

QOTD: I have been looking for something just like the 2004 Delille Doyenne Syrah.

  20. September 4, 2007

    MagnumGourmet

QOTD – 1994 Woodward Canyon Dedication Series Cabernet Sauvignon

However…There are three wineries on the up and coming that I feel will eventually deliver an even better experience. Just have to wait 10 more years to see if they develop in the bottle the same way as the WWC.

RULO – Kick Ass Syrah at a mindblowingly reasonable price.

STEVENS – Cabernet blends are the way to go (424 and XY)

BOUDREAUX – Completely off the grid winery up in the mountains. His Cabernet Sauvignon will rival Quilceda Creek, Leonetti and all other chalengers in the not too distant future.

All your fart and poop talk reminded me of the Jets, and whether you’ll be extending FS to the teams (if there’s more than one) that beat up on them this season. Or is that no longer sound business now that you’re at “Dancing With The Stars” viewership levels?

QOTD – the ‘99 L’ecole Syrah is what opened my eyes to WA. Still one of my favorites.

    Love from New England…

    ill watch tonight.
