I love the Mottster. How can you hate someone who has to put up with Gary ranting AND taking shots at one’s beloved Giants? (Dont worry Gary, I hate the Giants too, but thank God they beat the Pats in the SB.) A lesser man would be on the ledge of a building. QOTD: You know whats comming ( sad face )…. none! Blah, I promise to change that.

Great show, you need to do another long island show soon, lots of great wines to try, my wife and I love the wines in that area. Macari is producing some really interesting wines.

Great show! QOTD, several. Big fan of East Coast Cab Francs, especially Virginia (Doukenie Winery, Breaux, Grey Ghost, and Linden), Georgia (Tiger Mountain), and Long Island NY. As for Cali, love Titus and Lang & Reed. Keep up the great work Gary!!!

Hey… Went wine tasting in the Finger Lakes at the end of April. We bought ten bottles, and four of them were cab francs. We were loving them.

Love ya Mottster! Looking forward to your shirt.

QOTD: One Cab Franc – with 2 or 3 in the cellar waiting in the wings.

QOTD: I have had more Cab. Franc than I can remember. I have had CF from at least 8 different wineries in Virginia alone (multiple vintages).

    GV-
I am still catching up on some old episodes. Love the Cab Franc from LI, Finger Lakes, and the Loire.
Also, the Mottster is a pimp and I am glad he is a part of the show, rough edges and all.

QOTD: Had the 2005 catherine and pierre breton bourgueil “Trinch!” recently and it rocked.

I’ve had many. I love Cabernet Franc, but it is hit or miss, especially with those from California. My favorite remains the CF by Ronchi di Manzano. The DOC is Colli Orientali del Friuli and I was surprised to see it in the box of samples. It might have been the first Cab Franc I ever had. It was amazing, and ever since, I’ve been picking one up here and there. I wish we had been able to pick it up. My other favorites have been Chinon.

    Good job Mott!

Only ever tried one Cab Franc. It was at Mills Reef in New Zealand. I was digging it, but my wife thought it tasted like dirt (which it did), and she wasn’t going for it.

Love the love you’re giving to L.I. cab francs! YES! It’s definitely the grape they do best there. Gary, I am a little sad that you didn’t bring the Schneider Cab Franc from LI. It’s actually my favorite of all the cab fancs you can get out in LI. Please put it on your list for the next time you do a show on this “pencil shaving” wine. yum.

QOTD: I’ve tasted a ton of cab francs from LI, maybe like over 30? Probably bought like 10+ bottles. I love this grape.

What is this… MOTT? I do not know him. Is he any good? What does he do for a living? Does he have any talents? Why should I care? Love? That is a bit strong. Make him smile PLEASE. :)

QOTD: I’ve had lots of cab franc. Chinons are my favorite, but I have had many from Niagara that are quite good and a couple from Ohio are good as well – all different, all distinctive. I’ve also had one or two CFs from Washington State that were quite tasty as well. I’ve only had one from Cali and it was really overpriced and not that impressive.

QOTD: Maybe a dozen 100% Cab Franc wines.

Big fan of Chris Mott for his good work keeping those infantile punks in the forum under control.

GV- Really appreciated this episode, it reminds me that we need to make a trip to long island soon for tasting! Thanks. QOTD: maybe 10. Actually, one of my favorite wines of all time was a cab franc- Peju cab franc, maybe 2003-2004ish.

Close to 100 Cab Francs so far, the best being from the Northfork. Osprey’s Dominion, Shinn, and Corey Creek being my favs. Not as consistent in the Finger Lakes, but a few decent examples out there. Same goes for Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CA. Great show keep em coming!

QOTD: Just one, Lang & Reed 2002, it was delicious. I definitely got some vegetables, even jalapeño, which was really nice. I have the Barboursville 2002 as well and I’m looking forward to opening that one up soon.

I have drank several Cabernet Francs from the Chinon and Saumur regions of the Loire Valley in France. I am a big fan. The only thing not to like is that the wine does not keep well. If you cork it and leave it overnight, and then have a glass the next day, it takes on the horse barn aroma and flavors, which is not attractive to me.

I am also a fan of Chateau Cheval Blanc, which depending on the vintage can be 100% Cabernet Franc. Obviously an expensive wine, but I tend to drink this at only special occasions – 15th wedding anniversary, for instance.

Keep on changing the wine world!
