    Good show Gary!

QOD – A house Merlot and a steak joint in Georgetown this past Saturday night, and one that I found to be extremely fruity and refreshing – Little Penguin Winter Red. Good stuff….5 bones on your site!!!!

BTW – when are you going to feature some wines from the Finger Lakes of Upstate NY?????

    CHEERS!

Great show Gary, BTW i’m not worried about the Pat’s. LT watch out.
QOTD Sea Smoke Southing and Cobblestone Cab Both excellent!

QOTD: 2006 Chateau St. Jean Fume Blanc ($12) and 2004 Carneros Shiraz ($11). Both very nice.

Good show. I’m really liking the theme this week, mainly bc this price range is right in my wheelhouse…not a balla yet, I guess. But like Gary said, there’s a lot of great value in the $10-$15 dollar range.

QOTD: Azienda Agricola Parari: Faro 2004 and Bruno Rocca Fralu: Langhe Nebbiolo 2002. Both really good. If you’ve never had a wine from Faro, seek them out. Very Burgundian in their sensibilities.

“theme of the value wines” at the time that the CKC’s are back to school? Coincidence? Hey G…I feel your pain, think about it, you could be a Chiefs fan like me ;)

Actually 3 this week so far. Ramey 2002 Hyde Vineyards, 2000 Chateau Leoville Poiffere, Ferrari Carrano Trease 2003. I think 2000 and 2001 Bordeaux will be some of my best value buys in the last 3 years.

Does anybody else think that the movie “Sideways” sucked?

    Bogle – over-rated

The last two wines I drank were:

Caduceus 2005 Nagual de la Naga
    E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone

The 2005 Nagual de la Naga was wonderful. A sort of Super Tuscan/Brunello, full of fruit and a little mystery. I don’t know if you’ve ever had it or heard of it, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s from Caduceus Cellars in Arizona, the wine is only available via website or if you go the the Page Springs Tasting room. Check it out, let me know if you’ve had it or are interested!

The bogle pinot ? The octuple PAZZZZZZZZ? No respect for those viewers anymore. Hey bogle fans, you should all get together and discuss the merits of beringer white zin. I can see it now 2006 was a sweet year with HI-C undertones.
    2002 atalon cabernet awesome
    2004 stuhlmuller cab equally impressive

QOTD: Taylor Fladgate port and Ray’s Station Cab

    Thanks Gary

QOTD: Last two wines were Peter Lehmann ‘Futures’ Shiraz, Barossa, 2005(?) and a Taylors Late Bottled Vintage Port 2000; both pretty good. I’m glad you enjoyed the ‘Stickleback’.

    Cheers Andrew

Good episode Gary I am loving the theme of the value wines :)

    QOTD:
    -Homeade 2004 Zinfandel
-2005 Bogle Merlot (thats ironic lol)

    Wow The Ellen Show…kewl!!

QOTD: Cloud 9 Composition and Mumm Napa Brut Reserve 25th Anniversary. Very nice, very very dry!

Nice to see you exploring the value price points. Have you ever tried the Concannon Pinot Noir? Very nice for the price and I think Five Rivers make a decent one to. Although I really like the Benton Harbor!

    Have a fun trip!!

QOTD – Torbreck 2003 “The Factor” Shiraz … OMG! I’ve never had a wine with a never-ending attack before, but that had it – so I had to buy it ($$$ ouch!)

Chateau Talbot 2000 – lovely Bordeaux, but after the Torbreck monster – it wasn’t a fair fight.

  19. September 12, 2007

    C-Dub Hammerhead

QOTD: 2003 Sanctuary Cabernet Sauvignon (first time I tried it… I was very impressed. Our server recommended it and I watched her sell three bottles of it in the hour I was there). 2004 Ehlers Estate Korte Ranch Zinfandel… I had to bring the hammer in for my birthday. This is my all-time favorite wine. I know I haven’t been in the game very long but I would put it up against any other of “the people’s grape”. It’s extremely difficult to find but well worth the search if you enjoy your vino chewy, peppery, spicy and meaty with an explosion on dark fruits on the back palate.

QOTD: ‘04 Chappellet Signature Cab w/Short Rib… Mmmmmmmmmm… and an ‘04 Patrick Lesec CdP Rubis.

  21. September 12, 2007

    JerseyGirl turned CNY vayniac

QOTD: Jackson-Triggs 2004 Hate Harvest Vidal (yummy yum yum, esp with fruit danish) which is one of my all-time faves and Salmon Run Rainbow Rose (also yummy)… although the Salmon Run was the last of 17 wines I tried (all Dr Frank and Salmon Run) at a wine tasting on Friday, which was an awesome time!

Great show Gary! I’m glad you liked a few of the affordable wines today. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for those! (although with free shipping… maybe I’ll just order them!)

Can’t wait for the Ellen show! I’m not as much a fan of hers as Connan, but I’m sure it’ll be awesome!

you said the Heartland Stickleback was light in alcohol.
I grew up with Rieslings and the majority were about 7.5%!!
I like lite(low alcohol not taste) wines, they burn less on the mouth.

1984 Sichel Riesling QUALITATSWEIN 8.2% by vol (alcohol)

light and very fruity – nice for a twenty yr old table wine ($3.99)

Ellen? How cool are you? I see Howie Mandel is on the same show, I cant imagine you two together in the green room, it will be nuts! I made sure it is set on my TIVO…cant wait to see it.

    Great Show.
    QOTD:
2003 Langwerth Von Simmern Erbacher Marcobrunn Riesling Spätlese — enough said, love it with sushi.
2001 Bodegas Montecillo Rioja Reserva — A little too oaky right now, came around a bit the second day.

    Last two wines:
Exlibris Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 Columbia Valley. Very nice!
