I do love lessons. Im as guilty as the next person at going to whevever to b uy wines and look at the 90+ scored wines first. But Im learning to try new wines and look at tasting notes first. QOTD: Im not going to answer this with an exact answer, but say new restaurants. Ive found a few new places lately and am quite happy I decided to check them out. Gotta love new finds that bring it!

Qotd – Being a Dad! 6 months and growing.

Wish I had bought a bottle of that Bordeaux when it was on sale and had free shipping – but I did expand my palate on the orders I made!

My favorite new experience – wine related – was drinking an Albrino from Rias Baxias.
I know that you have been playing them up lately, but I find them zesty (with 4 z’s).

QOTD: Kudu venison. Kudu is a type of antelope in Southern Africa. The first time was at a lodge near Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. If I remember correctly I paired it with a South African Shiraz. The lodge where I was eating it was overlooking a water hole and all kinds of game was coming for a drink as the sun set. At that very same lodge I had warthog the next night that I had with a pinotage. It was also very good.

Q: Argentinian Malbecs, I’ve been ignoring them for a while and a month or two ago I tried a few that were great, now I am on a huge malbec kick, a great grape that is quite a value right now.

I don’t try new things? No way. You must not have been talking about me. Unfortunately, I had a different problem and that was that nearly everything I wanted to try was sold out. Bummin!

I love seeing French wines on the show! Sometimes I feel that the New World is getting a lotta love.

QOTD: Other than this show, I love finding new words and idioms in French. Like the idiom directly translated, “Let’s return to our sheep” otherwise meaning, let’s get back to work.”

First time viewer…I am hooked! Although I am not a huge football fan, I am a big wine fan and have watched several videos on your “new to wine” page even though I have been a wine drinker for 10 years. I have learned a lot and found some new wines to try! My local wine shop is going to love you! I have written down 6 wines to try and have already picked up one of them.

    Thanks for all you do!

Yo, Missy, take a Midol and relax, will ya? If you don’t like the Thunder and the toys, that’s tough. It’s GARY’s show, NOT yours. If you want political, musical, artsy or whatever, then turn on The View. And who are you to tell Gary about who buys wine? He’s been in the business of selling wine for a long time. I think he may just know who his customers are. If you don’t like what he’s doing, then STOP WATCHING!…or at least go back to lurking and keeping your fool mouth shut.

QOTD: Calling ‘em as I see ‘em.

The FedEx man just dropped off my new wines and my TIGHT like nuts & bolts Lurker T. Looks like the wife and I are going to have a good week. I don’t even know what I ordered, just picked some wines from the Best Buys section of the site. That’s the good thing about being new and ignorant, no preconceived ideas. Thanks for the new threads. I am sure I will get some comments from some Dallasites this weekend.
    How about those Cowboys!

QOTD – What was something new that I tried that I liked? Definitely the Antinori Tignanello, I’m more of a Pinot guy and had not ventured a lot outside of the U.S. I also liked the Portugues Douro Redoma

    I’m even impressed myself! :P
