    Love WLTV !!!

Gotta call you out, though. It’s “palate,” not “palette” (as in painting – or pallet, as in bottling day). It’s an easy one to mess up but good to know the difference.

Irish oatmeal. The steel cut kind. Beautiful nuttiness. And I can put just about anything in it, like raisins, cinnamon, honey, maple syrup. So what’s your favorite cereal?

    What, no DeGrendel or DeToren?

QOTD – Cracklin’ Oat Bran. The best…even though it resembles dry dog food… Quaker Oatmeal Squares 2nd….

Yesterday, I watched a really old episode on Youtube where you were reviewing Canadian ice wine and you then (for the hell of it) took a sip of Molson beer and rated it. Why not promote a good beer! Infact why not do a Barley Wine show. Barley wines can be amazingly complex!

After 321 episodes, I’ve finally left lurker mode…How about a shout out on the blackboard for the streaking Colorado Rockies (W10). Are the Mets about to lose their playoff spot??

Remember The Swedish Chef’s Croonchy Stars cereal? Gone before its time, I say. I like Peanut Butter Bumpers with fresh banana….

Hallelujah for your comments on points, GV. There’s nothing wrong with wines being awarded points, stars or anything else — you just can’t follow critics blindly and expect to be happy all the time. The important thing to keep in mind is that the critics tend to be consistent about their likes and dislikes, so you need to keep track of how you, personally rate wines against those critics. If you discover that you’re not liking the merlots that a critic is scoring 90 and above, then you know not to buy what that critic likes. And the reverse is true, too: If you find yourself agreeing with a certain critic, stick with him or her. Also, you have to listen to their descriptions of the wines. You don’t just go see every movie Roger Ebert gives thumbs-up to — you listen to what he says about them, and make your decision from there.

I like the new intro Gary! Addin’ a little bit of polish – nice!

QOTD: Well, of course there’s the classic LUCKY CHARMS… but my latest addiction is the Fruit Loops with Marshmallows! It’s tough, cause i have to go to Walmart to get them (that’s the only place that has them around here) and I hate Walmart… but when I’m there that’s what I have to get!

QOTD: I am totally hooked on Ginger Granola mixed with French Vanilla Yogurt and some fruit; blue berry, strawberry , mango, what ever is in the fridge.

I have tried a few S. African wines and also found them to be damn good for the money. Thanks again for an enjoyable AM wake-up episode before work:) Yes that means I’m behind a day.

I have always been a big fan of South African whites. This episode makes me excited to try the other end of the spectrum…I’m pretty excited!

QOTD: I was a big Cocoa Pebbles fan, but now I’m more of a Granola and Oatmeal Raisin Crisp type fan (love these with banana!)

I’m not into Pinotage myself. I do buy a bottle every once in a while, and then I drink it when I’m in a strange mood. When I’m already relaxed, not when I want to relax. But not a very enjoyable varietal for this boy. QOTD: Kashi Heart to Heart Honey Toasted Oat Cereal, OR, Go Lean. ONLY.

    Thanks for avoiding the shiraz.

Your description of pinotage was more edifying than what I have heard in tasting rooms about clones. I appreciated it.

cereal: most anything except those containing yogurt covered bits

QOTD: I’m in Japan so it’s gotta be this salmon flavored soy bean…naw, I love this dried fruit granola cereal they have here. Top notch. And if you want some vegetable, salad, chewing on greens wine for a very very good price (about $9) you must seek out Chateau Labourdette. I had the 2003 yesterday and finished it tonight and I must say: close your eyes, put it in your mouth and you’ll swear your eating a fresh greens salad with just a touch of fruit vinegarette dressing without the vinegar taste. Not very balanced, a little harsh and short on the finish but I’ve seldom tasted more vegetal or bug sprayee a wine.

qotd: used to go crazy with golden grahms, but now i’m into the adult version (barbara’s oat squares). what is it that makes cereal so addictive?

I had the Kanonkop Pinotage and was quite impressed with it. And yes, I could actually smell the banana!

QOTD – Any good granola with some raisins/cranberries/blueberrys/coconut

QOTD: So glad you asked!! When I was a kid, it was Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Rice Krispies Treats. All the way. Now that stuff is way too sugary for me, but now I do love oat bran flakes or any of those cereals with multi-grain flakes and “clusters” of some kind… kind of an ambiguous answer, but there it is: a balance between healthy and only slightly sweetened.

I don’t think it is fair to blame “sideways” for the merlot bad rap. i was working at a restaurant with a good wine list and when i person would sit at the bar and ask for a merlot, it was the code word for ” i don’t know anything about wine, or just some red wine that is dry” i think there are a lot of people that had a lot of merlots without any personality. today when you said it did not taste merlot, that is a shame. merlot when it is good is so charming. it can be like pinot in where it has the characteristics of the land. in gravel soil, it can taste like a norhtern rhone, in clay, it can taste silky with notes of tobacco.
i like the new intro, quite pro.

QOTD: musili. when i was a youngen, fruity pebbles made my morning. hated sugar smacks. corn pops were good too. i like the crunchy stuff now with some fresh fruit.

I am a fan of S.A. as well. Engelbretch Els Bordeaux style blend is pretty tasty.
I am addicted to Kix. Have a bowl almost every day.

Not a massive SA wine fan… maybe haven’t explored enough. QOTD: MiniBix with a few Cheerios on top, wife laughs at me and calls it a cereal medley (unless it’s Sunday, then she calls it a cereal Sundae).

Faaaaantastic EP Gary! I love SA wines, for me they bring the best value ever in my glass! Please – please bring in some SA wines more often…. I think I will popp a Rustenberg John X tonight ;)
