Nice EP…..but because of your “Vinny” rant, you for got to rate the Fleur Des Pins. Please email me Gary’s Score.

BTW, check on the T/N section for the Beer Ep. #327….I think you’ll get a good chuckle.

    Social Brian

Gary, Social Brian here, formerly TagWorld Brian. :) Great to see you getting back to old school WLTV sort of. Maybe you’re able to get out the other energies on youtube, FB, Ellen, Conan, Nightline, Time, etc. And now you’re able to focus 100% on the wine again. (And the Nightline piece was excellent. Excellent. I’m glad you won’t get pigeonholed in the mainstream media as the “guy who eats dirt and sucks stones.” You got to explain the WLTV philosophy, and it was great to hear. And the WineLibrary operation grosses $60M a year? No wonder you spit D’Yquem. :) Seriously though, it’s been a great ride over the past year.

Gary, another SPECTACULAR episode. Is amazing how, over more than 300 episodes, you can still bring a lot of thunder. I’ve been watching you since your early days and is amazing how i’m still waiting impatiently for every single episode. Congrats again…
QOTD: wow, tough one to choose only 3 but i’ll go like this:

    2. Denner Grenache (it makes the hair on my arms stand up)
    3. Silver Stone Chard (chard so good it will make you laugh – the winemaker’s name is Dan Kleck).

    The Celebrator

Can’t wait to try some of the Fleur Des Pins – I’ve started seeking out a lot of the wines you’ve been tasting and must say, you’ve been spot on.

    QOTD:
    - 2004 Sequoia Grove Cabernet (GV: You were right, this wine went to charm school. I told a friend of mine who is a master sommelier and has his own wine store that the SG was better than 04 Don Melchor, he laughed at me… and then he tried it, and I laughed at him.)
    - 2005 Numanthia Termes – not as good as the Numanthia Numanthia, but for $20 it’s good enough to buy two – one to drink and the other to bathe with.
    - 2004 Hacienda Monasterio Ribera del Duero – if I had a show like you, GV, this would be the wine I would tell people “this is why you watch my show.”

Thank you, Gary, for changing my wine world.

    Isaac

    Flavio

    Probably the toughest QOTD ever:

3 wines from recent memorable meals (highly influenced by the food and the company)

1998 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reserve (dinner at La Beaugraviere in Mondragon)
1998 Gabriel Meffre Laurus Gigondas (lunch at L’Oustalet in Gigondas)
2000 Pontifical Chateauneuf-du-Pape (magnum; dinner at Balthazar, NY)

    For the QPR, day-to-day…

2004 Chateau Pesquie Les Terrases Cotes du Ventoux $11, anytime day or night
2005 Hugel Gewurztraminer $16, best pairing for NYC Chinese delivery
2003 Tahuan Syrah (Ernesto Catena) $12, surprising delicious

  16. October 11, 2007

    flippy

    QOTD: as of late:
    1) Chateau Pesquie 2004 “Terrasses” Cotes de Ventoux – big and drinking really well now but will absolutely open up over the next 3-5. Around $12 (Canadian).
    2) Corolle 2006 Rose – VDP Cote du Condomois – who knew there was a region in France named ‘Condom’? A great dry rose. Around $14?
    3) Graham’s 2000 LBV – around $22ish. Huge and massively concentrated.

That’s pretty much for this month – bound to change almost imminently.

Good to see you again, Gary! Please, allow me to expound…Yesterday I tried to watch, and for some reason, couldn’t get the video going, so I was MAJOR bummed. Anyway, I am always entertained and enthused by your show. Great wines today, I will seek them out. By the way, I have my favorite wine guy here in Memphis trying to find some of the Boudreaux Cellars from Washington for me. Can’t wait to taste it if he can get it.
