QOTD: Croix de Beaucaillou ‘03, really digging a wine called OX 2005 Cab/Malbec, and Feuillatte Palmes D’or,

My wife who is lurking right beside me says: Ch. Simard 95 although she still really remembers the 83 she had a decade ago!, Bilelcart-Salmon Brut and anything made by/at Nicolas Feuillatte.

Great job as usual. I’m feeling your pain in the NFL this season as a Falcons fan. Can we get the Birds and the Jets to square off in a bout of the crappiest NFL teams/starting QBs? Can’t wait to give these three a try while watching my team get pounded by the d-bag Giants on Monday night football. Keep up the good work.

    Gary,

When you find a wine that you love so much – how the heck do you spit it out???

Top 3 as of the past 2 weeks:
    Trevor Jones Virgin Chardonnay
    Tieffenbrunner Pinot Grigio
    Veuve Cliquot

    Been a good two weeks.

    Thanks for you,
    B

Hey, Chris, I’m trying once more to put in my 2 cents!

My 3 wines of the moment… Well, honestly, still haven’t made up my mind on a favorite wine out there, but I’m still lovin’ the Tocai Friulano along with other dry whites. So when I found this wine, it combined pretty much everything I ever wanted into one bottle: Tocai Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Riesling.

The 2006 Ronco del Gelso Blanco – Latimis, from Friuli Isonzo

#$@%-ing beautiful. My 3 wines of the moment, shoved into one bottle. I’d be amazed if you’ve tried it before Señor Gary. If you have, you know the awesomeness the bouquet has to offer on this wine. It’s a $25 wine, and for what you get, it’s damn worth it.

Wanna make my own twist here cause I’m probably more into beer at the time. I’m gonna give my favorite top three beers.
    1) Hoegaarden (pronounced who-gar-den) a Belgian White Beer. That with a slice of yellow lemon (not squeezed or anything just let is float in there).

    2) Samuel Adams Honey Porter. Gotta say its one of those awesome beers that just won’t let me down.

    3) Warsteirner Oktoberfest. Grab it now while you can cause it won’t be here for long.

WoW! Great show, GV! I’ve had a lot to comment about lately, but my 2 cents worth kept ending up in your spam box. The MottMan fixed it for me, so I’m back in business!

I did try to comment on Tuesday’s QOD: I think sometimes that the kindest deeds I’ve sometimes done have been simply keeping my mouth shut. I tend to be blatantly honest and sometimes people don’t want honest; they want to hear what they want to hear. So, in order to avoid hurting someone, I shut up! I guess that’s a “back door” good deed.

    Loved your enthusiasm today!
QOD: There’s absolutely no way I could pick a favorite. It seems that every other day I have a “new” favorite. Last new favorite…2005 Bride of Black Bart Chard

Hey Gary…I guess I fall into the category of the “once-in-a-whilers” as far as posting goes. Any way…3 of my favorite wines (and I’m not going to include wines at tastings, rather wines that I actually have bought more than once and that I’m happy with pretty much for any vintage):

Bandol Rose, Domaine Tempier (I’m not just saying that because you had a rose on the show, I love them). Any of the Burgundies produced by Jean Grivot have always been good to me and I always love a good Tawney Port, any producer, I’ve not had one I don’t like.

That’s me in a nutshell, of course there are tons of different wine that I adore though. OK…take care man.

    GO BEARS!!!!

    QOTD:

NV Yalumba Museum Reserve Antique Tawny — At $14, my feelings about this wine are like yours about the Fleur Des Pins — shared with the inner circle, when the fist taste is swallowed, they get mesmerized and then comes the big grin….. and then they ask where they can get it….

    2002 Numanthia Termes Toro

Any Ridge Geyserville or Lytton Springs Zin

Gary, I loved this episode! It’s awesome to see you so pumped and excited! I look forward to seeing more episodes like this in the future.

    QOTD:
1 – Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 2006 (I know you aren’t a huge fan, but I LOVE it!)
    2 – Chateau des Charmes Gewurztraminer 2006
3 – Bogle Merlot (Had it at a tasting not too long ago… don’t remember the vintage… but it was definitely my kind of red wine!)

Gary, new to the site and really new to wine. I love it though. We have a small group here in Austin, and have wine night once a week. But mostly store brands. Reading all these posts I feel very inexperienced. But can’t wait to try some of the wines you’ve suggested.
So with that here are my limited knowledge faves I’ve had recently
    Stag’s Leap 2004 Merlot
Estancia Meritage (not sure of the vintage)
2005 Centennial Vineyards Bong Bong Savignion Blanc

Hey so I’m from Tx, gonna have to disagree w/your Thanksgiving game prediction! :-)
This site is fun, I will be visiting daily!

GV, Keeping the show freshy fresh…I like it. Nice to learn what wines you consider the “new hotness”, as I like to say (you can use that if I get a shoutout). QOTD: Kenwood 2006 Sauvignon Blanc, Vivieros 2005 Cab Franc, and Root 1 2005 Cab. Changing direction for a second, I can’t figure why, but it seems like negativity is creeping into your world, which for me, is hard to imagine. I’ve been watching since July, and honestly, I love everything about the show. It’s a great 10-20 minute break from work, I learn a ton, I’ve started building my pallete, I’ve thrown a couple wine parties, and I tell everyone I know about the show. Life is good. But I got the impression after following your rants from site to site the other day that there are people out there who are trying to bring you down with their cynasism and negativity. As I said, I can’t figure why. How someone can look at what you’re doing and have something bad to say? All I can say is brush that dirt off your shoulder and keep doing what you do. There are plenty of people that truly enjoy and appreciate this show.

Thanks for another great show, Gary. Unfortunately, the Fleur des Pins is sold out at Wine Library. I will search for the other two.

QOTD: 2005 Sea Smoke Southing. Had it with wild salmon and butternut squash risotto. Terrific!
2000 Ch. de Cruzeau. It’s drinking well now. A relative bargain.
2003 Treana white. Really tasty. 2004 is available now. Good QPR.

My QOTD: How many WTV viewers imagine swishing the wines with you? (I find that I do.)

    QOTD…..
    1) Nicholson Ranch Pinot Noir 2004
    2) Etude Pinot Noir 2003

Dolcettos and Rhone. Just getting around to opening my 1996 CdP’s and really enjoying several of the Dolcettos from your previous episodes. Tonight making shortribs with Barolo and drinking a 1992 Poggio Barolo with it.
