    Hey Gary,
If you’re feeling adventurous, heres an interesting remedy from China:
Take some coke, take some ginger (freshly cut).
Put the ginger and the coke in a small pot, and boil.

    Drink and enjoy!
(ps. its a pretty interesting taste too, I’d recommend it even for a casual drink, and for training your palette.)

QOTD: My sick day drink is a whole lot of hot tea with a hand full (3000 mg) of vitamin C. I repeat the vitamin C in 12 hours. Plus one tablet (not two) of Sudifed and 1000 mg of tylenol initally times one dose and then repeat one tablet (not two) of Sudifed and 325 mg of Tylenol with a hot tea chaser every six hours for a total of three times. This always makes me feel well within the day and I am up and going strong without any additional medication for days to weeks except for my daily dose of 500 mg of vitamin C. What a concoction…..but a good sick day one. You asked…..

Get better Gary!! QOD – Depends on the type of sick. Head or throat = Canadian whiskey. Anything below that = juice and water. Or, if it’s that special kind of “sick” after a night with too much wine, I pretty much stick to Gatorade.

    Now go get some rest.

  17. October 23, 2007

hot herbal lemon tea and add a dollop of honey. after that a nice big shot of southern comfort with a big heap of honey in it. it helps you sleep and when you wake up, everything is all better.

whoa! looks like the Gravatars are working again!

  24. October 23, 2007

QOTD: Hot homemade ginger tea. I chop up large chunks of fresh ginger root and boil ‘em in water. Sometimes I add things to the teapot—a sprig of rosemary, some lemon wedges, some orange wedges, a bit of honey—but usually I drink it straight up. It always makes me feel better, especially if my throat is sore.

If my illness isn’t kicking my stomach into convulsions, I’ll drink orange juice. Sometimes I mix oj with 7-Up.

And I’m a chewable vitamin C fan. When I take vitamin C tablets, I get over the worst part of colds quickly. I don’t do a lot of cold medication because most of that stuff (1) doesn’t work on me anymore (now that so many have changed their ingredients) or (2) makes me feel even worse. For instance, Nyquil is 100% ineffective for me now and Theraflu makes me very nauseous. Stupid over-the-counter meds.

    Anyway: Get well soon, Gary.

  25. October 23, 2007

    wildebeest

QOTD: It depends on what kind of sickness I’m dealing with, but for a nasty cold I’m constantly pouring water, Airborne, and Emergen-C down my gullet. Sometimes a nice hot tottie really hits the spot too (or a hot buttered rum)! I hope you feel better soon!
