    sir gary vaynerchuk!

QOTD: never had one. my exposure to non-chianti italian wines has been limited other than a few dolcettos and amarones.,,,

QOTD: I’ve said it many times before, but I will say it again. Nebbiolo is my favorite grape. I’ve only ever had one nebbiolo wine that was a complete let down for me. There is something about its flavor profile that I respond to in a way that transcends normal flavor experiences. So to answer the QOTD, I don’t think I can actually pick a favorite.

QOTD: Yes, I’ve had Barolo before but I haven’t taken the time to really think about it.
This episode was extremely timely as our monthly tasting group is doing Piedmont this
    Saturday night.

I’ve never tried a Barolo before but I have one in my cellar right now. It’s a 2001 Barolo Serralunga by Paolo Manzone, and I hope to pop it open in a few years. Hopefully it will become my favourite style of wine.

I’ve wanted to try some for a long time and again, you never want to pick a wine in the above $x price range and have it be bad, or moreso, a miss. But I’m certainly going to do some homework and search a few out!

Not to start the smack talk…but…GO SKINS; don’t break my heart two weeks running.

No, I’ve never had one, but I’m going to try the Oberto, because it’s at the right price point for my budget. Thanks for the recommendation!

Gary, I feel sorry for your wife. She’s going to have to kiss that scruff on your face for awhile. My Redskins are going to drop the hammer this weekend.

QOTD: I got a few bottles of the 03 Ghisolfi Barolo for an Italian dinner last week. Rated 92 by WS. It was overall good but the mid-palatte to the finish a bit too earthy. I am putting the extra bottles away for a few more years (recommended after 2010) before I open the next one.

QOTD: Aldo Conterno, but Damilano makes a great daily drinker.

i thought you said no more barolo episodes. but why not, they are beautiful.

QOTD: of course. i have a few in my cellar and i have my eye on a few more for later drinking. the problem is that most that are begin consumed now are are just way too young. it is really hard too to decant a wine for 5 hours at the resto. on that note, they surely have the possibility to be monolithic in their youth which leave people with the feeling of ” don’t get it ” feeling.

    QOTD: Negative ghostrider.

I had a Barolo in a wine tasting class I took in January, so it has been quite a while and the amount that I had was just a smidgen. Since then, I started a wine tasting group and were are working our way through France and will soon be going to Italy and Spain. So I will be adding it to the itinerary. For anyone who wants to learn more about wine, start a wine tasting group. I have been hosting it for only six weeks and I am amazed at how much I have learned so far! Plus you meet new people who like wine!

I’ve never had a Barolo…can’t even afford the stuff. I will just live vicariously through you.

QOTD – Shit yeah….I am a Barolo lover [Thanks Joe G for the gentle nudge ;) ] Favorite Barolo has to be Liciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2001. I had this at the epic Buffalo WLTV offline!

I did not see the origianl episode, so thanks for redoing this. Ever since reading about Barolos in “The Wine Bible” I’ve been interested in them!

QOTD: The only Barolo I’ve had was a 2002 Damilano. The bottle was on the discount shelf ($16.99, normally $30) so I tried it. I was surprised that the wine wasn’t more tannic. The flavor was good but I’d like to try that $100 Barolo you had on the show today!
