Sad is the day the in big NC when Gary came to bat. No, its okay G-Man all of us northern transplants living in NC (and working in the biz) have felt the wrath of indigenous vinos. Childress seems to have the most potential partially because they’re throwing alot of dough into the project (Childress is loaded). Whats more Childress is a fixture at NASCAR races drinking with Mario Batali. Seriously!!

Come on G! â??Wines from other parts of the country besides California overpriced?!?!!â? As Super Fly would say, â??Are you crazy man?!?!â? Some of the best deals around come from states other than the big CA. Washington State for one has some amazing deals and great quality wine. How can you argue with two back to back perfect scores from Quilceda Creek (granted the scores did come via Parker) for $85 bones, which is about as high as it gets in WA. Anything close to that quality in CA would be $500+.

The Jets gave a bigger fight against the Skins than I expected, I’ll give you that. But what’s that trite phrase? Oh yes…cream rises to the top. A shame the Skins didn’t cover the spread though. But don’t worry, Clemens looks like he’ll be able to beat a couple of lesser teams later on in the season.

I would love your opinion of Chateau Morrisette wines, especially their Cab Franc. Being for NC, I have found very little in NC that I really like, but love Chateau Morrisette, right across the border. They have your greens in the Franc.

Great. I really like the “US wines series”. I am very biased toward wine from CA, OR and WA and completely overlook any other US wine. Even Canada for that matter, I am still trying to find the Malivoire Gewurztraminer you mentioned in episode 258. Thanks for the exposure to the rest of the US portion wine world.

Try a Childress Sangiovese. It is a two year old vine, grown on 5 acres near my house. Didn’t think anyone would put a grape that young on the market, but it is pretty good. I think Sangiovese may become the NC grape. I hope we can shed the sweet wine rep.

Nice show Gary but these NC wines may have shown better with a chew. Also,when picking out a bottle you neglect to point out that choosing one made by a celebrity or with a stupid name is always a safe bet. Have you had the Vince Neal cab yet?,I heard it rocks.

My favorite NC winery is Raffaldini – very nice Vermentino and Sangiovese
