Gary, Oh boy you were en fuego today. Great show.

QOTD: Yes, I have had a couple Barberas, but only from CA. I need to try some from their native land of the World Cup champs. Viva Italia!!! I am waiting for my girlfriend to get out of the shower so I can go eat some lunch. I am so hungry I am about to eat my arm.

    Thanks GV!!

There isn’t a red wine from that part of Italy I haven’t enjoyed… barbera, dolcetto, nebbiolo, barolo.. Gary’s right… they’re all magnificent! I’ve been to Alba a couple of times while I was in college, I tried to bring home as many of these bottles as possible while managing to fit my clothes and books in my luggage. They are too good! Man I’m so glad to see these wines on your show!

    Hey Gary,
Discovered your show last week. Been lurking since then, told a couple of friends to check you out. I’m addicted.
Anyway, Barbera! Yes. California State University Fresno has an Enology department that has been producing it’s own wines and most are fantastic. Even their $4 Tailgate Red is tasty on a weeknight. Seems like every year though, their Barbera is winning awards all over the state, so I’ve been drinking theirs, but now I’ll have to branch out to some of these. Hey how about a whole show on Fresno State? Check them out! http://www.fresnostatewinery.com

QOTD: p1) so far, the Barbera d’Asti by Vietti is one of my faves – Vietti also makes a nice Arneis.
p2) still waiting on you to ship to Washington. . . what is up with that?? show some love! You must think we are spoiled by our connection to Walla Walla, and therefore refuse to spoil us more. hmmph

I love Italian wines. Great ep!

QOTD: Are you kidding me? Take a look at my wine cellar. Those wines to the left of the long-term agers are over half barbera.

    Ciao

Thanks for the episode Gary. Unfortunately, the Massolino sold out in three seconds flat, but I did get my hands on a few bottles of the other two.

QOTD: Yes, I’ve had Barbera D’Alba a few times at enotecas in the city, but most were not that great in my opinion. Looking forward to trying these out!

Wow, can’t remember the last time you liked every wine in the episode. Nice!

QOTD: Never had a Barbera. I’ve been waiting for someone to yell and scream at me to try one…it’s just never happened.

Best one I ever had was a 98 Hastae Quorum. Not cheap ($75 retail) but a great barbera, loads of dark fruit although the acidity has started to fade recently on the wine. I think it has probably seen its best days by now.

Was reading this article today (http://scienceblogs.com/cortex/2007/11/the_subjectivity_of_wine.php) and it made me wonder whether you’re the only guy out there who knows a damn about wine these days. Keep up the good work GV!

Ok, now that I watched….QOTD: No, not that I know of. I was waiting to get a nice live cat meal lined up to pair it with, but apparently I could go with something like Inky Spaghetti.

Your Knicks board cracks me up. I just feel sorry for you. Jets and Knicks. Glutton for punishment. Come down to Texas and we can cheer of the Cowboys and the Mavs. Get a taste of that sweet victory.

Throw the Vietti Tre Vigne in the bunch as well – all fabulous. Barberas, Barolos and exceptional Chiantis just make me proud to be an Italian-American. Some of the best sub-$20 juice you can get out there.
