I’ve had a decent Barbera from Michele Chiarlo and a very good one from Prunotto.

    QOTD: Absolutely.

If I’ve ever had Barbera, it’s been so long ago that I’ve forgotten what it was like. I guess I’m waiting for my next shopping trip to my local wine merchant!

QOTD: Love the Barbera! Great show. I’ve had the Fontanafredda not too long ago. Outstanding bottle for the price.

How about a New World Barbera show? There are some good ones coming out of Washington — Woodward Canyon and Yellow Hawk, both located in the Walla Walla Valley.

Finally!!!!! A Barbera episode! QOTD: Yes, one from Cali, and several others from its homeland. It seems many american wine drinkers are missing out on these nice dry, sour cherry, food friendly reds. I’ve found a few good ones at Costco, interestingly enough. Sorry to plug a competitor, but your nice that way..

P.S. I have to agree with everyone who’s praising this as one of the best episodes: It’s great to see you so enthusiastic … even when our friend the Oak Monster makes a cameo.

QOTD: Of course I’ve had the Barbie! Unfortunately, they are all sold out! Geez, I guess I need to go to my local COSTCO! :)

Great show, let’s go with Grenache for an episode. I’m having a Craneford right now which is quite yummy.

    Go Colts!

QoTD: Nope, never had barbera, although I’m very interested now. The “meaty” component sounds incredibly appealing … I am *usually* vegetarian, but I occasionally buy some meat, and I love the meat-juice-blood flavour (I usually can’t even wait until it’s cooked and eat some of it totally raw.) … -and- A wine that brings that along with dark fruits and excruciatingly-dark chocolate?!? Sign me up. What am I waiting for? The next time I go to buy wine!

Today’s episode is compelling me to go out and buy a Barbera d’ Alba right now. Today’s episode is one of the best, if not the best pre-taped episode. I haven’t had a Barbera because my palate has been having a field day in Rhone, and in particular, the wonderful summer home of corrupt Popes of the past.

Thanks again for keeping this going Gary. I just thought of a new analogy for you. GV is to the wine world what Ron Paul is to the entrenched political system of today in America.

You’re really going to like that, or hate what I just said, but it was from the hip.

Enjoy LA and get some shut eye before your health declines.

I don’t know if I’ve had Barbaras, if I did, I was drinking at the time and,,, oh,, right.

    QOTD: Nov 15th,,,,here’s hoping!

So I’ve been lurking for about 5 months now and this episode got me excited enough to comment. Do more with the Italian wines, I don’t know too much about them but after watching I’ve tried a few lately and 4 out of 5 have been home runs. Also, wines for Thanksgiving?

    QOTD: Yes

QOTD: Had a Barbera last month as a part of the WLTV forums WOTM thing. Not quite my taste, but not horrible.

    Jeeezzzz Gary !

I think I’m getting closer to my long requested Rosso Di Montalcino show.
Barbera Alba certainly does remind me of spring flowers— like Lilacs.
Makes me want to cook up some pasta and Meata Balls……
Next show try to show a little enthusiasm will ya.

    Hey Gary,

New Vaniac / Long time suffering fan Jets here… Great show! I’ve been trying to catch up on all the old episodes. Absolutely love the show – the energy, the commentary, the Jets bucket… The show is a great way to break up my day in the office. Can’t wait to get to the store and try out your recommended wines. Keep up the good work!

    QOTD: YESSSSS!! And love it!

QOTD Part II: Waiting for my rehearsal to end so that I can have some wine!!!

QOTD: I’ve had a number of Barbera bottles before….though I can’t remember whether I’ve ever had any d’Alba bottles.

I know I’ve had plenty Barbera d’Asti before, though. Mixed results, but mostly decent in my experience.

Dammit Gary!! Where’s the Michigan wines you mentioned on Monday? I’d better not be let down tomorrow…
