Squid ink? for real? Dude, you can eat and enjoy cheese for two weeks and take in less cholesterol than a plate of squid ink pasta. Go with the cheese. ; )

QOTD: I throw barbera into the mix every once and a while. It has been a few months, so maybe I’ll pick one up pretty soon.

Co-inkidinkally, I have a Barbera open on the kitchen counter right now (Calif.), and am drinking it as I watch this show.

LOVE Barbera…its actually dominating my modest cellar right now. Great wines at that price point. I was first introduced to them at Otto in NYC, they have one by the glass on the menu that I’m really in to.

YES! Tried the LaGhersa Barbera d’Asti (superiore) Vignassa, and loved it. It was 2000 vintage. Tasted like some good Bordeaux blends of twice the price. I agree with Gary… this stuff seemed to have wonderful balance of fruitiness and earthiness or vegetable flavors, and then a meat-juice or stew kind of mouthfeel (don’t recall a meat juice or bloody flavor).

Is this all recorded the same day (”Knicks”)? Gary’s mood or “explosiveness” is changing from flight (show) to flight so much so that is seems to be on different days.

    Cin-cin e ciao.

“It’s nice to drink wine that isn’t Yellowtailed.” Hear hear, GV, I concur with your statement. And now I feel like I am the one that should bring wine to parties and family gatherings so I am not subjected to Yellowtail or Beringer (people who are well meaning, but not too educated in the wine world…I’ll recommend your show)! But I dunno, I can’t quite recommend live cat to my family or friends! :o )

QOTD: Yup, I’ve had 2 Barbera D’Albas during a Piedmont tasting at work (us employees get to booze too- and for free! Plus there was a Dolcetto in the tasting). I need to get into them more, but there’s so much wine at work to try. I’m truly working on it!

G-Man you gotta pop some beta-blockers, you might hyperventilate the next time.

QOTD: Ofcourse Barbera, she tasted so good. Pretty, perfumey, and easy going down.

QOTD2: I am waiting for bigger allocations. So I don’t always get the “what the #$%k am I gonna do with 2 bottles huh?!! Thats just a #$%king waste of time..” Ahh the biz, it’ll drive yah to drink.

QOTD: I had a 2005 Molino Barbera d’Alba a while ago that was absolutely phenomenal. Velvety mouthfeel, lush dark fruit, really nice wine – I ordered a glass of it at first, then went on to order and drink two bottles with my girlfriend and another couple with dinner. I’m on the Barbera boat for sure.

Best episode in a little while I think; Barbera seemed to really spike your energy level.

QOTD1: Never had it, but plan to now. This is why I love your show.

QOTD2: I am waiting for another double-blind tasting. Get them to pick out some really interesting stuff for you to try. Maybe even (dare I say it?) some Yellowtail, just to quiet all the people who think it is “not that bad”.

Loved the show, keep it up.

AWESOME! It’s great to see an episode with no disappointments. QOTD: I love barbera! Piedmont is probably my favorite wine region. I can’t think of another region in the world with the combination of world class wines and values found in piedmont. Keep spreading the word because barolos, barbarescos, dolcettos, barberas, and even ribolla giallas are all some of the best, and most unique, wines around!
