    Israeli wines are an important part of changing the wine world for the better, as there are tons and tons of great Israeli wines — most not even available yet in the US (Gary, want to change that?)

    QOTD: Right guy, right place, right time.

    Not sure what’s up with St. Clement these days since their wines run so hot and cold depending on the drinker. I suspect–without any evidence mind you (don’t sue me, winery guys!)–that they might have a little TCA or similar thing going on and that the super-tasters like Gary pick up on that. What I can say for now is something I’ve said before: I’ve never tasted a wine that opened up after several hours like the Oroppas has/can. If you’re patient (decant at noon, drink after 6:00), the Oroppas can be one of the absolute best $40-50 cabs coming out of Cali. The little brother you tasted ain’t bad either. From my experience, it’s just that St. Clement needs hours and hours to breath.

For giving us your opinion, and then telling us to trust our own palates over anything even you say about a wine.     Belated congrats on your 3rd Anny. We celebrated our Forty-third last month, visiting the Naramata Heritage Inn at the tail-end of the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival. On our third we were driving through the mayhem of pre-Olympic construction in Munich, looking for the HofBrauHaus.
