I like the way you describe the wines! I can almost smell and taste the wines from your description!
YES, there is such a thing as blueberry stew! Over here, we have something which we call blueberry soup but it’s more like a stew – it sounds like a delicious syrah!

QOTD: I probably would have eventually tried these, but your descriptions encouraged me to get some sooner. Recently, I’ve fallen in love with sancerres — yum! I also was very curious to try pinotage after hearing you talk about the grape, and how stinky pinotage can be. So, when I was at a wine-tasting and a S. African pinotage was featured, I was prepared for the dirty garbage can smell…and a few sips later was raving about the deep, dark flavors in the glass. Very cool! :)

Next time the Pax bug bites you have to try their Rose its fantastic, much darker in color than a typical Cali Rose. It’s basically baby Pax with a solid left hook.

QOTD: As someone said previously the Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Rioja Crianza Rose 1995.
Your review was spot on, and the essences of tea in it were uncanny. Big ups G-Man.

QOTD: Actually, I don’t recall any in particular. I’m a relatively new vayniac, and I don’t get to buy wine all that often. You did turn me on to Argentine Malbec, however!

BTW, how do I get a nice custom avatar like some of you have? I haven’t been able to find that anywhere.

Gary, that’s weak sauce. Why do you always pick the absolute worst BN to taste? You guys must have a few others in stock. You believe in public humiliation?

Excellent show GV! Thanks for answering my question on “Ask Gary”! I will go smell the hell outta those veggies!

QOTD: Temparnillo. I love that grape….plus the Albarino is amazing! That’s my new favorite go-to white wine!

I think Gary just regurgitated some wine!! Gary, you’ll have to teach us the art of tasting wine that way.

    Gary-

Two questions. Is the St. Julian dry or off-dry? You didn’t mention it in the show, and I think it makes a difference in food parings.

Second, have you had any Beaujolais Nouveau that you liked? Aren’t they all pretty one-dimensional?

Awesome show! I was enlightened and entertained.

QOTD: I have to admit Black Pig Albarino was an eye opener for me and my girlfriend. We tore that shiz up with some broiled fish and shrimp earlier in the month. Delish!

I think I has some shopping to do now…

Whoa! My head is spinning with such variety of wines today. But I LIKE that feeling! I tried a couple Beaujolais Nouveaus today (neither were the George Douboef) and they were better than last year’s, to me. But then I like fruit bombs (and the Raiders.)

QOTD: I tried Pouilly Fuisse and really liked it. Before the show where you talked about it, I was turned off to Chardonay. Then I tried a pouilly fuisse and the funny thing is that it tasted more like the way I remember (and liked) Chardonnay to taste. Keep challenging us!

Enjoyed the show. We would have opened our bottle of Michigan Riesling if we had checked what you were drinking first. It’s not the same one you tried but still encouraging.
Wish we could get orders shipped here….darn.

QOTD: Probably several wines but Primitivo most recently.

I probably would have to say Dolcetto, although Albarino is probably a close 2nd. However, I LOVE both of these now! Both of which, I tried after seeing them on your show.

Great show today. Definitely going to have to start “asking away”.

QOTD: Without WLTV, I may never have given white wines another chance. In the past I have not really liked/enjoyed/appreciated whites, but since watching this, I’ve tried a few that were recommended, and most were good. So thank you GV and WLTV, for expanding my knowledge, expanding my palate, and expanding my heart. (Is that too much?) :)

QOTD- I got a whole lot of wine I’ve never tried in route from wine library and I’ll let you know if those turn me around. But most recently, your Alamos Malbec recommendation got me looking more seriously at this grape.

QOTD- It is a seriously long list of wines, but I would say Sauternes. WOW! And thanks.

QOTD: This was never on the show per se, but the Lopez Heredia Vina Tondonia Rioja Crianza Rose. The other wines you have done from Lopez Heredia got me interested in this producer, and before WLTV I probably would not have bought a rose.

Dolcetto for the win. Awesome show, thanks for the heads up on the Beaujolais Nouveau. I think I will do what I should have done last year and give it a preemptive PAZZZ.

Great show and thanks for the foodie book recommendation. I love those types of reads.

QOTD: Agree with GrapeStuff: Wolftrap and the CLIO are my choices.

Thanks for the offer. I’ll be sure to take advantage of it.

    Cheers
