Great show today, there is a Beaujolais Nouveau party at a local restaurant this weekend that we were thinking about attending. Mind is till not made up aobut going.
QOTD Priorat wines

GV – I have been watching the show for a month or so. It’s the latest in a year long wine education effort which has included a trip to Napa / Senoma (where I toured Sloan’s ultra exclusive winery by the way – an incredible experience), to barrel tasting at Dellile Cellars in WA state. I have fallen in love with Quilceda Creek and Leonetti, and discovered a fantastic winery in WA called Fielding Hills – they are making great wine. My neighbor owns two Italian restaurants in Seattle and has shared a lot of Italian wine and food with me which has been fantastic. Which brings me to the QOTD. I ordered a case of the Barbera Dâ??Allba, 05, and broke open the first bottle last night. My wife and I loved it. I have also ordered some of the Frank Family Zin and will probably order up some of the Schistes reviewed today. I enjoy the show a lot. Thanks for the effort.

Awesome show Gary! Thanks. I agree, I have been consistently underwhelmed by Georges DeBoeuf recently. Earlier years in 80s and 90s were the heyday.

QOD- Fleur des Pins 2005

Black Pig Albarino and Sunday Morning SB are the two individual wines I never would have even known existed and LOVED without WLTV.
As far as varietals go, I admit it. Before WLTV I had tried 2 or 3 dolcetto’s and wasn’t impressed. I thought they were 8-10 dollar wines, that cost 15-20 bucks. After your dolcetto episode I gave them another shot and now they are some of my favorites. It goes to show you can’t make an assumption about a varietal from 2 examples.

Anyway, looking there now, at the top of my “GV shopping list” for my next wine buying binge is to try some Primitivo.

Thanks for the straight talk about Beaujolais Nouveau. Tried it on Thursday myself. Yuk. Tired of hearing about the stuff. There is so much better Beaujolais out there for just a few dollars more, and so many alternate wines for the same price.

QOTD – Aglianico, I’d never heard of that grape until I saw the episode a few months back, it got me into a whole bunch of Southern Italian wines.

A wine show that I watch on the internet sometimes, but it is so much more, how can you rate the influence you have had on my wine lexicon, you have opend this book that was so forbidden until now.

lit match aroma comes from sulfer, matches have sulfer, and you are detecting sulfer from bottling. It will fade with time, so I’m told.

The beaujolais nouveau sounds a lot like this very sour 2002 pinot noir from Romania that my grandmother and I opened the other day.

Grandma also makes blueberry soup, ironically, especially in the winter and whenever blueberries are in season.
