Well Gary, I am having 2 Thanksgivings and I have 2 different wines, and I don’t eat Turkey, but on Thursday I am eating CrabCakes and the 2 wines I have are the 2003 Selvapiana Bucerchiale Chianti Classico Riserva and a 2004 Domaine Jean-Jaques Confuron Cote de Nuits-Villages Les Vignottes (I got as a gift for catching a bird, I know, crazy story). My 2nd Thanksgiving where I’m not drinking turkey, but a bunch of side dishes and something else I’ll have 1 of the other wines. What a confusing dilemna, but oh what amazing wines do I have waiting for me. My parents will be drinking Chardonnay like they always do, but hopefully White Burgundy and not a Oaky mess from somewhere else. I love good Pouilly Fuisse with Crab Cakes though. Yummmmmy!

Great episode, GV. I’m looking forward to winning the contest and seeing you in NJ! Don’t worry, the flight from Omaha to Newark is not too expensive.

QOTD: I can tell you what I am bringing for T-day dinner.
    1. Dr. Loosen Eroica Riesling from WA
    2. Paul Jaboulet Aine Parallele 45 Rose
    3. Columbia Crest Grand Estates merlot (because we need the casual drinkers to be distracted while I drink the good sh%t.)
B-727 will have to tell you what else we’re having. That list might look as good as some of these other ones.

Great show again, congrats on the Jets win. The wines sounded very good, I’m going to try to find several of those. I’m still a little scared by the jock strap filled with pickles, though.

QOTD: Probably a Gewurztraminer. No one I’m eating with is much of a wine drinker.

Great Thxgiving show! Well, us Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving on Oct. 8 (Nov. 22 is already too cold for us :-) ). In support to our American neighbors I’ll be popping an Essence riesling qualitatswein Prum Mosel-Saar-Ruwer 2005 (GREAT VALUE, 15$, delicious and slightly sweet; Vayniacs: try this))) and a Pinot noir from New zealand that I am trying for the first time: Pinot noir Sherwood Estate Marlborough 2006. Cheers

Fun show, Gary. Still working on the Thanksgiving wine list but here is the first pass.

The headliner will be a 1989 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande that was an anniversary gift last year.

I will also pick a zinfandel out of the cellar since its the only uniquiely American wine.

For whites, we will open a young, modestly priced white burgundy and a German kabinett reisling.

    Tommy Vernieri

QOTD: We haven’t nailed it down yet but in addition to your four-pack we’re thinking about the Wine by Joe Pinot Gris, 2005 Peter Lehmann Sémillon Botrytis, and for breakfast the Riondo Proecco.

I’m kind of curious about how long to decant the Bordeaux from the Thanksgiving pack and when to serve the Sardinian wine.

Good to see you happy about football again Gary!

    Gary,

Great show…now for the fun part.

QOTD: I will be drinking a white 2005 Gessami Gramona from Spain and a 2006 Bergstrom: Dr. Bergstrom Riesling from Oregon. I am very, very excited about these wines for the turkey…it will be great to taste them both again. It’s been about 2-3 months since I decided the last time that I wanted them for Turkey Day.

    Great episode Gary,

After the previous episode I tried the Coume Del Mas Schistes and very impressed. I was not expecting what I consider such a New World style wine with complexity. It was great that you started trying more wines from Southwest France which I will definetely make an effort to try.
