Love the descriptions as always. Love to see a blind Domestic tasting challenge. North Cali VS Oregon, Wash VS South Cali, Michigan Vs Texas, New York Vs Virgina….That would be cool!

Great show….My wife is pregnant and I’ve been drinking alone for 5 months, I tend to stay away from the half bottles but maybe i’ll give them a closer look.QOTD I don’t mind the current intro one bit it get’s me jazzed up and ready for the show .But it’s always cool to see from the Vaynernation as well. Thanks Gary and WLTV crew.

How can you say I don’t care!!! I watch every show. I comment whenever I have something even vaguely interesting to contribute. I remembered your birthday. I buy your wine (well, I would if you could ship to where I live). What more do you want . . .

QOTD: I like Dr. T’s “volume will return to normal after 15 seconds” idea. I understand that your goal is to lure new viewers in, not turn them away. I like it just like it is, but you must do what you think best.

QOTD: Dyude, do not change a thing! a 15 sec. intro would be cute every once in awhile, but seriously, do not change. You shoot from the hip with your wine ratings, right? So why try to change who you are or what you do? It works.

When I saw my first episode of WLTV, I called my wife and said, ” you gotta see this guy, he is intense!!” We love the show. IF some people don’t and want to get their wine info via WS or WA or whatever, so be it. But don;t hate on us Vayniacs man. I just got my first wrist band — photo to come soon. Got the banners on my blog, spreading the WLTV love on facebook. We’re a hardworking crew devoted to good wine and changing the wine world.
My only pet peeve is that you sell out some of the wines on the show too damn fast!!!!

    Great Ep!

Hey gary, Do not change anything about the intro. I am recently new to the show and I have gone back to watch the old shows where you are not so jubalent. I love the begining of the show. I think that you bring it up a notch in expectation of a great show.It also adds to watch the show is all about, and how you bring the THUNDER. Keep up the great work and I am loving the show.

I would also add that I appreciate your total approach to this program and would encourage you not to change a thing.

You make this very real and spontaneous which I enjoy thoroughly.

Do not fear losing folks because of the introduction. If they are that fickle then it is their loss.

Thank you for all you do.

to hell with the people who don’t like how you start the show. keep it the way it is.

Gary, you’re crazy! How could you get rid of that intro? Just imagine if you did something subdued and then went into that same explanation of the Chablis, it just wouldn’t make any sense. You are who you are and that’s why we love WLTV.

You don’t need a disclaimer. People will figure out if they like WLTV or not. With the amount of press coverage you get, if there’s any chance they’re going to like you they’ll eventually find their way back.

Don’t you dare change your thunder-attitude that you have every time you begin your show–its my favorite part!

    Cheers

    Enjoyed the show as always.

QOTD – Dude, you have how many viewers? If the complainers want some boring place to get wine info, there are a thousand places to go (RP, the other Gary:-), etc.). You’ve got to be yourself. I personally enjoy the intro and it gets me excited to watch the rest of the episode. Is it over the top? Without a doubt, but it is you. Your enthusiasm is what your views love.

    Keep the great shows coming.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.

I would watch no matter what. What regular viewers were not liking ur intro?

QOTD: so to answer you Q, NO

I wouldn’t change your opening at all. As many people mentioned, and as you mentioned, it is your personality. 15 second intros from vayniaks might be fun too. I almost died when I saw that one from minnesota, eh. Its not really my thing, but if I come up with something I will submit.

Why bother with 1/2 bottles, spend $10 and get a pump and some stoppers. I am reluctant to pay the premium for the 1/2 bottles. So when I am alone I often have 2 or 3 bottles open at a time, standing up in my wine fridge, at supper I pick one that I feel like drinking. When my wife and I are staying in the same place, this is usually not an issue, cause SHE ROCKS.

Working on the website, will get the widget up.

At one time I purchase/drank more 375ml until I read about a glass of red wine/day being good for the heart, well if one was good it just naturally follows that two or three would be even better or I thought I could “bank a few days. Either way the 375 lost its appeal.

QOTD: I don’t do change well, and I don’t have a movie camera to shoot video even if I did…best to leave intro as is….well I guess the little girls were kinda cute today. OK intros of little children would be fine, just no grownups trying to be funny.

  14. November 26, 2007

    VinOrecul

QOTD: Random viewers making intros? No that sniffy sniffs out to be boredom. However to be fair to all the creative vayniacs out there it would be totally feasible to have a monthly show where some of the vayniac videos could be linked up. (Mott??) I did take at your advice and seek the Book “Service Included” and enjoyed every page, perhaps sommelier from some local restaurants in a round robin taste test contest WITH YOU running the show. This could give alot of people the angle they need on their palate in demonstrating food structures and pairings. Anyways..more later. Gotta go back to lurking. peace all.

Great episode—even if you didn’t find any winners. Very educational.

Is the wine they put in these half-bottles inherently lesser (i.e., the dregs of the vintage)?

As for the QOTD re: opening, I’m with the majority opinion: you being you is what has built a following. And an opening warning is OK, but reminds me a little of The Jerry Springer Show. I like the silent title graphic (the calm before the storm), then… explosion of energy and positivity! It’s great pacing, IMHO.

    Finally… Private Dancer—Woot!

P.S. “Just got a new haircut!”—such an awesome aside. LOL.

QOTD: I love the way the show begins and ends every day. I wouldn’t screw it up with viewer submissions, no matter how cute.

Gary, we care, at least I do :) I don’t really have a problem with the beginning of the show, but intros would probably be pretty funny.

    Gary,

I love your intro, it is what made me watch. People need to get a sense of humor!! Though the video clips are a great idea!

thanks for taking the 0-4 today Gman. you and Eli, 4 attempts 4 picks. oh well.
no change to the intro necessary. Cheers.

Sorry about that, this laptop isn’t the easies to type on.

We liked the show. We have tried half bottles when we’ve found them in wines we aren’t familiar with before. We’ll have to keep an eye out for others.

QOTD: You don’t need to change the intro. It’s you… I don’t think a caution from viewers will change the mind of someone weirded out, anyway. But if you want to change it…o.k.

Haha.. I can’t believe I called into the Martha Stewart Stuart (whatever.. i dont know how you spell it) show today!
gary – thanks for taking the call and I’m embarrassed for asking a silly question.
I literally tuned in.. called the # on my display and they picked up immediately and put me on with you in like 15 seconds..

    Oh well!!

It was cook hanging up and then hearing our conversation on the air :)

Great show on half-bottles. (I’d answer the QOTD if I could figure out what the %@#&* you were talking about!)

For my money, do NOT change the intro. I actually get jazzed, no matter how I might be feeling personally, just watching and listening to your enthusiasm at the beginning of each episode. I am currently ignorant of wine, but I’m watching and learning. Rock on man!

Gary, good show today, I like the half bottle idea since I am the only one drinking in the house. My wife will taste mine but that is it.
QOTD- Don’t change, remember ” you with a little bit of me, we’re changing the wine world” don’t let the wine world change you. Remember They Might Be Giants from the 80’s, “Be you, Be what your like, Be like yourself”
