    Gary,
I’m going to be brutely honest.Your inthusiasm is what brought me to watch your show.I found you to be “real” not a stuck up snob like alot of wine people are that i have ran into, especialy to new learners of wine.I found you not to be a yuppie,i believe that most of the watchers that e-mail you about the opening line are a little up tight and don’t see it for what is worth a man excited about wine and teaching others about wine to,it’s good to see people excited about something they love. After i read about you and found that your this like rich guy i was hoping that it wasn’t just a front to get people to watch your show. I don’t see that and hope that your not just a great actor. Love the show opening and your enthusiasm!!!

QotD: Please don’t change the intro. I love it, my girlfriend loves it, and I just got my mom hooked on it (based partly on the intro).

Even tho we are “lurkers” and only comment ocassionally…..please don’t change the show!! If you start changing things to try and please everyone, you will be changing forever!! Tell anyone who doesn’t like the first 15 sec….TO TURN THE VOLUME DOWN or go into another room. Just give me all your knowledge about the wines, along with you dashing personality and I will continue to watch.

and yes i will add, i don’t think it needs permanent changing, but who would you be, being content?

FWIW, I like using Winelife Wine Preserver for days we don’t drink the whole bottle. I have been suprised how well it works – especially compared to those pump systems, etc. – a nice alternative if you can’t get the half bottle. We have left some bottles as long as a week while traveling & found the remains still to be very enjoyable. Does Wine Library sell thos product? Might be an interesting episode – same bottle – just opened, 1 day old, 2 days old, 3 days old & 7 days old – taste them blind & assign the days to the bottle – a good test of product for the Vayniacs

QOTD : Do what ever you like – that’s why people watch. If you get a good video, show it. If you don’t get a good video, stick with the standard intro, but whatever you do, be yourself. That’s the formula for success

Hey man, I think you’ve worked hard to get the show to what it is now with your signature swinging head intro the “changing the world” finish. Guess what, it works and it’s not boring at all. My advice is to Keep the show as is. The video intro maybe good for the Friday show (once per week is enough), most people watch the show for the wine experience and education, both of which you’ve been delivering nicely. Good show! Cheers.

I’m watching 24/7 as well, and I was super excited about Mayweather/De La Hoya after watching 24/7 and was sadly bored out of my mind. You think it will be any different? It’s sill Welterweight boxing.

First of all Gary… I fell in love with this show after the first 15 seconds. It was your introduction that caught to me to watch. Dont ever change!

I love the idea about making a 15 second disclosure video Though. Im already racking my brain with ideas.

QOTD: Don’t change the show, the energy is the main reason I watch it. Who wants to watch a boring wine show? NOT ME! I seen some on TV and I swear if I watched them at night I’d fall asleep faster to them than watching poker. DON’T LET GRUMPY OLD FARTS SCREW UP YOUR SHOW! You’ve gotten to where you are by being unique, screw damn warnings and intro clips, get into it! BANG! But if you really really must put some cute stuff or warnings, put them at the end. Most intro clips get turned into adverts as shows get more and more exposure, don’t be a sellout either. SNIFFY SNIFF!

I’ll have to check out some of the split sized bottles we have at work- we usually have a few, but now with the holidays, we have more out on the floor. That’ll be something to try out.

QOTD: Ok GV…I like the occasional openers like today but I truly don’t think there is a problem with your opening…at last count you already have 40,000 viewers right? I know you want more, but if people can’t swallow your no-snobbery attitude, why should they continue to watch? That’s what WLTV is all about- breaking down wine sector snobbery and making it accessible to the everyman or woman. In essence, it’s “changing the wine world!” (I think I heard that quote somewhere).

Don’t change anything…. Let’s separate men from boys ;-) If you can’s stand the heat… go find another wine blog. Enough cliches…

Gary, I’ve been watching since day 1 and think all of the Vayniacs need to appreciate you for who you are and the opening is all you. If you would like to put up a disclaimer at the beginning so be it. Maybe you could get Shatner to do one for you. He does everything else. Don’t buy many half bottles because I have found too much bottle to bottle variability in the past.

    late-start

I need to keep my eyes open for the half bottles as I am usually drinking alone. On a side note I see no need for an intro; a funny or really well done clip here and there will be ok.

You can change whatever you want Gary but I liked the show from the first time I saw it. Though the intro vids is a cool idea too.

Interesting show. I’ve never really gotten into the 1/2 bottles much, but I appreciated your take on them.

QOTD: I don’t think that you need to change a thing. Your energy in the intro is what really grabbed my attention when I first saw the show. And contrary to what some earlier posters said of people who like the intro, I’m well over 25 and a working professional. I just like to have fun, and at the risk of sounding full of myself, I like to think that I get the message that Gary is trying to get out there. And I say, more power to you GV!!!! We love you.

QOTD: Putting in some intros here and there would be cool ,but, I don’t want to sit through a comedy skit to get to the wine info. Your doing fine by your lonesome. Keep doing what your doing. Just don’t be boring. There are plenty of other sites for that.

    Gary,

I stumbled across your show from a link at corkd.com. I was immediately drawn to your enthusiasm and the fact that you encourage people to drink what they like but also to try new things. You couldn’t be more right on with that. I have been a regular viewer of the show for several months now. This is my first post because I felt it necessary to throw my 2 cents in on this. I now feel like an official Vayniac.

I haven’t read the all the replies but I have read enough to know that the overwhelming response is that we love you as you are. I suspect the folks who were turned off by you after 10 seconds are a bit like your Haloween persona. Spontaneity is great, but keep being you. When musicians do what you are talking about, we call them sell-outs.

    Keep bringin’ the thunder!

    Jason

Loved the show, Gary!! I don’t do the 1/2’s ’cause I don’t have to. :} I’m wondering if the taste you were trying to come up with in that last wine was what we have here in America known as candy lipstick. For some reason, as you were trying to describe a cassis-like intense flavor, the candy lipstick I used to have as a kid came to mind. QOD: What should you do? Just listen to your insides, and you’ll know what to do. It has served you well thus far.

If you change I’m leaving…………….seriously, do you want all the wine dweebs in the world watching? Please do not submit to their moronic requests. There are many chat rooms where people can discuss yields, fermentation and maceration, just not one that I want to listen to. Like you say every episode we are changing the wine world…………let them find another chat room.

Gary, here’s the thing…you have a unique style online and it’s going to take a while for people to discover it. Don’t push it. The best celebrity personalities developed slowly, like wine. An intro is a good idea, but what will attract people is you. I’ve gone back and looked at some of your old shows and you were interesting, but dull. You’ve grown. Develop your natural talent. You’re not going to change the world of the old traditional wine connoisseurs, but you’ve got the whole wide world of the “run-of-the-mill” people, like me, who need simple, honest direction to experience good wine. Believe me, your somewhat eccentric presentation may at first confuse viewers but, with time, it will become your enduring trademark. Word travels.

Great topic today. I would like to see more half bottles on the market so I can sample more wines.

Hmm…being a poor guy at university I need value, and I never considered getting half bottles…I’ll check it out. Then I can try every single type of wine I can find.

QOTD: Screw the people who don’t like you! They’re just the wine snobs that we’re trying to get rid of anyway! Or at least tell them to start from episode 1 where you were a little more, err, relaxed…

Though if people do send you videos, then put them at the beginning….I might try to film one, in my weird British accent…
