Hey GV, hope you had a great holiday weekend. Love the halfers on WLTV!
Liked the Sena a lot, going to grab a 750ml of the 2003 while it’s available!!!
Way to show the love for D HESTER! ;) He’s amazing!

QOTD: My input is that it is ultimately up to you…listen to your gut man.

Hey Gary. Thanks for doing a show on half bottles. I recall you answering a question in previous episode about the quality of half bottles versus full-sized bottles.

QOTD: Regarding the opening, I like it. I think it speaks to your anti-snob thing. I could do without the pseudo WLTV gang finger signs, though. I think I understand the why (you’re a funny dude), but it’s not really necessary.

Please, no intro. Don’t go mainstream on us.

    Leave the opening alone.

please no stupid openings! your doing fine; no potty mouth descriptors; remember to mention the alcohol; we’re here to learn.
I’v been tasting and drinking wine since the early 70’s and still willing to learn.

Totally keep doing how you do as long as it’s still what you want to do. You got this big shooting from the hip and being yourself, so why stop?

Make your logo downloadable so we can use it in our 15 sec. intro’s.

Don’t listen to the people that say “don’t ever change.” You should do what ever you feel like doing, your off the cuff, wild personality is what draws us into the show. Plus your personality mirrors your mission, that is to change the wine world. And to change the wine world we need to make it fun, period.

GV – your enthusiasm is all a part of the whole package… Go back and look at the early shows.. your nose was actually turned up a little yourself, BUT NOW, REMEMBER…You’re “CHANGING” the Wine World, not Conforming to it… Keep the Opening!! If Thurston Howell III wants to turn his nose up to the opening he can watch someone else!!

Must say Gary that I just started watching the show about 2 months ago, and I am hooked. The thing that got me hooked was the unique way you do it. You can see your typical wine show just about anywhere on the web, and yet you bring a new and exciting way to view. You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please them all. Trust me, as a business man mayself you cannot please everyone….it is the 80/20 rule. You spend 80% of your time heloing 20% of the people.

QOTD just keep the enthusiastic intro. Who cares what someone else thinks.

Hey Gary…. great show, once again. You did mention something that really caught my attention. You said that for Cyber Monday next year you may think about shipping to Canada as a special. On behave of all vayniacs in Canada I would just like to say… PLEASE do this and before a full years time. It is very difficult to get a good selection of wine in Canada, especially in Newfoundland which is where I am from. I loved your idea of the Thanksgiving gift boxset but was very disappointed when I found out that it was not available in Canada. If you could open your shipping up to Canada on specials throughout the year, or all year long (that would be even better), I’m sure you would make alot of Canadians very happy.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

While I do love your energetic intro, maybe once in a while a Vaniac or Mott could do a short intro just to mix it up. Keep up the great work!

I like the intro…sets the tone for the show…however, I did send a 15 sec warning bumper in for giggles!

Forget half bottles…I drink the whole thing whether it be during the weekend or the week…I’m no lightweight!

    Gary,

No need to change the beginning, I love it, it gets me excited to watch WLTV. Don’t change for the few people that make some miniscual (sp?) complaint for an amazing show. Get over it, hold on strong GV.

    Hay gary…I still care…LOL!!!

QOTD: Dont change anything, its great the way it is…dont fix whats not broken.

    Social Project Brian

Gary, I agree. Don’t change the intro. It’s great the way it is. If you want to warn new viewers to sit through the initial shock of seeing you (GV bottle shock!), maybe put a written disclaimer near the video somewhere on the page. :) And the Vayniacs can help you write that, as a contest.

Don’t change the intro, tell all the uptight people to kiss off. Just kidding… Cutting edge entertainment is always criticized.

    Wednesday

Don’t change it, Gary. It they can’t take the intro, they don’t deserve your show.

    Taco John

When you had video intros, you always did you own intro right after anyway. Don’t know why having video intros would be any different this time. Plus with Viddler, it’s much easier to skip an intro once the video loads. So if you get good ones, just do what you did last time there was a string of submitted intros.

    Hey Gary,

Long time lurker here but I’m coming out of the dark to answer you.

I have to admit that when I first watched your show I couldn’t stand it. After I sat down and watched it anyways (you are always entertaining, that’s a fact) I was just so drawn in by your comments on wine, descriptions, and knowledge that I became a true Vaniac. I think the reason I was turned off at first was because of the intro because fairly often it takes quite awhile (8 minutes I think in this episode) before you start talking about the wine. That’s not to say you shouldn’t talk about the Jets and everything else, it keeps things interesting, but sometimes I feel you get off focus and I lose interest with exceptionally long introductions. I think you should continue the “hello everybody!!!…” intro but you should focus on keeping it concise and to the point and THEN jump into everything else.

Besides that, love your show, keep it up!
    Jeff

    Cam

QOTD: Your intro is great, GV! Don’t change a thing. The energy and sense of fun you bring to the show (and to wine) is why people love the show.

  24. November 27, 2007

    ryptide

I’m all for having folks submit intro videos, as long as you keep doing what you do! Don’t change a thing!

  25. November 27, 2007

    KNode

Please don’t change the intro! For starters, I don’t particularly WANT to see submissions from other people; I watch the show for you. And secondly, if you change things up then you’re just changing for the sake of wine snobs who can’t lighten up and have a good time. Some people just have way too much time on their hands and look for things to complain about. Let’s have a good time!
