You ARE weird Gary… but that’s why you rock! If you weren’t different, you’d be boring like all the other wine nerds in the industry and who needs more boring?!? Mix it up, change the beat! Great show. Keep it up.

QOTD: Love the “Hello everybody…” intro, it’s signature. I also enjoy the Vayniac videos intros, lame or not, they are fun. Maybe do another “educating your palate” episode and include things that were not on the first one (things people mentioned in the comments). How about a location based episode, get out of the office.

I don’t buy enough half bottles. So much less selection.

QOTD: Don’t cave in to pressure–this happens to everyone who gets a high profile (politicians, comedians, songwriters). I agree: go with your gut; personally, I’m here for the Very Gaynerchuk show and don’t care about intros one way or another. If you wanna throw in a new intro here and there, that’s fine–don’t worry about losing market share. If that puts people off, too bad that they don’t get it. Sometimes it’s not about numbers (!). Sometimes it’s about being true to yourself and your original vision. Start watering that down to cater, and, well, it’s a slippery slope. You created the show. Keep doing it your way, and the people will show up. Know what I’m sayin’?

Gary, do whatever you want with the opening of the show…I trust you! Hey, it just keeps getting better with time, so keep it up!

gary – thanks for the half bottle show. they are quite useful for a weekday dinner when i am on my own. boxed wine is also useful in this way – how about doing a show on those?

    Gary,

Keep the opening. It marks that this is not your ordinary, snooty, pretentious wine show. This is about wine being fun. Keep the opening. Look at early shows with the sedate opening and recent shows with the current opening. The big opening is better.

Hey Gary. Don’t change a f’in thing. We live the intro. “hello everybody” rocks. My kids will be very disapointed. My son, Reed(8), came out of no where with- “Dad, I liked the ‘weather they like it or not’ better than, ‘aren’t we’. I thought that was funny. My daughter is going around yelling YAH-NER-CHUK!!!! Pretty cute! Keep bringin’ the thunder to the table, my friend.

Gary, I am an old fart, 60 years, do not change you into. This is you and I love it. What is wrong with these people. Love your young daughters. Enjoy every moment you can with them. they grow up all to soon.

I love the old intro’s with that Vikings Fan screwball. Absolutely hilarious! I wish you had more of those. I think intro’s with a comedic feel are very attractive and appealing. There’s my two cents, thanks!

    Gary,

If people are offended by the intro they shouldn’t watch. I personally love it. The show is great! I am from New York and have lived in Seattle for the past ten years. Some people don’t get me and I couldn’t care less.

QOTD: Rule #1. Do whatever you want to. That’s what makes it fun to watch.
But imo, it just ain’t broke.

    Gary,
Please, please, please, don’t change the intro…you’ve got a great thing going!

    please don’t change the intro.
if people are turned off by it, they just won’t get the show.
the intro is “you.” To change it is analogous to letting wine snobs tell you what wines taste delicious.
You have to be you and trust your palate with wine. And you have to be you and trust in the way you naturally do the show, as well.
Especially, if we are going to change the wine world.

QOTD: I don’t know what you should do (not helpful, I realize, but at least I’m commenting).
The first time I watched your show (after my mom sent me a link), the intro nearly blew out my eardrums (since I was wearing my headphones at work) and in that regard gave me a jolt, however, it didn’t turn me off from seeing what you were all about. It’s hard to balance ‘being true to yourself’ and attracting new viewers (since they don’t know who you are) but I have faith in the Vayniacs and you that you’ll make it work (just like you have been).
If I have any strokes of genius, I’ll let you know! :)

Gary, You should not change anything. Your true fans are enjoying the show as is.

Please Please don’t change anything. No warning needed either – if they can’t handle it, too bad!

You (or at least a little bit of you)are supposed to be changing the wine world, not the other way around.

Gary – do not change the intro!!!! Also glad you did a few half bottles. Results show how hard it is even if you find them. Keep up the great presentations. I do wine notes for a couple of stores and like to hear your comments – especially if we happen to carry the wine.

Hmm I would say that you can have a slick, friendly intro with text and music. Have so shot montages of you doing “serious” stuff: family, work, wine tasting, speaking to folks, tasting wine, visits to vineyards etc, last shots can be of you having some fun as a subtle lead-in that the same guy knows how to have fun. This could go a long way toward establishing a small transition and letting people know you are a knowledgeable guy who is serious about wine. 15-30 sec spot should do. Think Conan: crazy intro – for content thats more calm, yet dynamic, and structured. WLTV: calm, yet dynamic, and structured intro – for content thats crazy. That intro will give you room to do whatever you want in the show and you can keep the old “WELCOME TO WINELIB…”
Those are my 2 cents, love the show.

I like the half bottle theme. But even though the subject matter is half of the usual, we still get 100% of Gary’s effort. Way to to, Gary!

QOTD: A sort intro of you saying the “Welcome everyone, this is the THUNDER SHOW!!!” would be cool if it were animated or CGI created. For example, a bum could be seated in an ally. He lifts a bottle of Ripple to his mouth, throws back his head and takes a big swig. Instantly he spits the wine out and gimaces. The camera would pan to the top of the bottle like you were going to be shown inside. Instead of the opening of the bottle, you’d see your face superimposed and you’d say “Welcom to Wine Library TV!!!” Scenes like these would be fun!

When I first tuned in, I was excited by the host (GV), even though I didn’t know anything about the show. The wine world needs some energy and enthusiasm, so keep it up. If people want low-key, placid, wine discussion they can probably find it somewhere else. You’ve got lots of supporters out here!
Not so sure about Tina Turner’s “Private Dancer” though… but I have to admit, since you mentioned it it’s stuck in my head now…. which I’m not too happy about… hmmmmmph
BTW, you have to wear that hooded sweatshirt when you do an Oak Monster show.

I recently watched a wine program hosted by Jancis Robinson – wow, her and Sir Gary would be a great match. I had to watch an episode of WLTV just to set me straight.
That being said, if YOU want to change the intro, then change it. You have made it this far doing your own thing – keep it up.
Maybe do an intro video just once every week or two for laughs.
