Good show.

QOTD: I’ve had the 2005 Château de Pibarnon Bandol. It’s now one of my favorite wines of all time. I need to find some more wines from Bandol.

A Shawn Kemp diss? Honestly? You damn well know 10 years ago you would have been all over him on your basketball team! The Sonics best years ( minus the 79′ title) were with Kemp/Payton. Knocking a guy long after his carear is over? *sad Justin* I forgive you though because you trash those dirty Pats. QOTD: No Bandol. Guess this means another new one to add to my to do list! *grin*

Got a offer from Garagiste on the 2005 Tempier and did not know Bandol was Mourvedre. Have had that varietal before but in Spanish wines. Now I am curious about Bandol. Thanks Gary for the schoolin’!

  • Just watched this show again because I’m going to Provence in a couple weeks and planning to visit Bandol! Super-excited.

Thanks for getting me ready for the trip!

qotd: yes but not many, and not nearly as many as I'd like, I love Bandol, glad to see you have it on. My 1st ever Bandol was the Dom. Tempier, a 2003. As I'm typing this I'm enjoying my 1st glass of a 2001 Dom. Tempier I popped a few hours ago. Granted we're having different vintages, but my tasting notes would be quite different from yours Gary. Definitely not a wine for those who love the fruit bombs. A total terroir driven wine, with loads of rich earth and leather, nice spice & garigue, a little pepper with licorice and dark chocolate bringing out a great finish.
I think this wine is great, I'd give it 92-93 pts, if I had to score it, and I definitely think this wine needs a good 8 years before you drink it. Too bad yours didn't fare as well Gary, but the way you were touting it before you tasted it I knew you were setting yourself up for a let down.
I'm sitting on a Tardieu Laurent 2003 Bandol that I've heard great things about, too bad I gotta wait at least a couple years before I'm gonna pop it.

And Rock man from He-Man? Wow, I even had the Moss man figure but I have no memory of Rock man

Great episode. What's up with Wine Lib only carrying 3 Bandol wines?
