Any chance you could supplement this episode with some advice on what to look for in wine coolers (for those of us who can’t swing a custom wine room just yet)? We have a make-shift cellar in our basement but the temperature various more than we’d like so we want to add some storage for the bottles we’re hoping to hold on to for awhile. Any thoughts? My husband and I both watch your show and have been lurkers but here goes, my first comment. . .

Great episode, even though I probably wont be getting one for 20 years, I learned a lot. Mostly that I really want a wine cellar.

Another reason I liked the last one was the yellow light they had hanging in the middle of the space. It gave it more charm and personality than the more monochrome and sterile-looking cellars.

Someday.. to have a cellar like any of the ones there. Though I was disappointed to see comments like smokeyust’s in the broadcast. References to “too much sausage” and using gay in a derogatory sense. I come here for the video, not to see homophobic comments tagged into the video.

close the door – your killing me…..

  • Any advice for those of us down here in the deep south (Florida) without a basement and average summer temps in the 90’s?

Really enjoyed the Wine Cellar show, it’s unbelievable to see some of the collections of wine and their storage! How about a show giving advice on wine refrigerators and wine racks? (Do’s and do not’s) Unfortunately, it might be a little while before I can drop 20,000 bones on a wine cellar!Love the show! Great Job!

Wonderful show – classy cellars, but way out of my price range! The average per bottle storage costs for those things are more than the average per bottle cost of my wine 🙂

A nice change of pace for WLTV.

I really enjoyed this presentation. I may never have a cellar such as these you have demonstrated but it was nice to learn some of the factors that went into these fine structures.

GV…SICK, SICK, SICK episode!!! I’m thinking best ever! Too bad they don’t build homes with basements out in Cali. Gonna have to talk to the wife about converting that ‘guest’ bedroom. Wish me luck!

I’m really glad you showed that last room and how cellars can be incorporated into other parts of the house other than the basement. It’s not very common to find basements in Texas, so I’m glad to know that a custom environment can be built to sustain the wines.

  • Great show! I’m not a collector, but I did enjoy seeing something that I may one day like to add to my home.

  • Dude… Great show. I learned a lot. The biggest thing i learned is that i don’t make enough money!

Those are some great rooms you showed us. How long do you think it would take to collect 1200 bottles of wine?

    Keep doing what your doing!!!

    Cheers!

  • Great show, G V-N-Ch … very informative, interesting, and capable of creating much envy!
I’m lucky if I can afford three cases in backstock, but someday that will all change!

That was really great. I was getting ready yesterday to email you about cellars, particularly your own, but there is no need now. Thanks. My own cellar is in a hall linen closet, it stays pretty cool and dark all the time. I don’t really need more than twenty bottles storage at a time. I honestly don’t know what I would do with any more than that except to turn into a raging lush.

  • GV – Nice, mixing it up.

  • Very educational. Wish I had the moolah to build me one and patience to wait 20 years for a wine to really mature.
    Great show as always.

Superb episode. One of the best so far.
I think you should do more shows outside your office. This one is really cool and valuable.

Gary, thank you for this wonderfully informative episode!

Here in the West Coast’s earthquake country, my ‘wine cellar’ consists of an ambient (but stable)-temperature interior walk-in closet. The individual bottles are encased in styrofoam, and stacked in cardboard boxes. Rock and roll!

This is the best episode yet, and I’ve been watching since #36. Not to mention the 86 Mouton always sends shivers down my spine.
