    OOPS! forgot the contest:

Simply have a secret word every day for a month and everyone has to email the 20-or-so words in to WLTV to win.

Then the names of the folks with correct answers are drawn on the show.

    Great show as always!

QOTD: The next contest prize should be:

A top-notch wine tasting event in the winner’s home (or hometown) paid for by WLTV and hosted by Gary Vaynerchuk!

QOTD: Corked (Cork’d?) creations contest. Each viewer creates something out of a cork (or 2, or more) and sends you a photo of his/her creation. Folks could vote on the winner, or a random winner could be drawn from a… um… lunch box. Anyone looking at these creative works of art must be able to tell that they were made from corks–no deconstructing a cork so much that no one can tell what it was in its former life.

Or maybe a chalkboard contest. Each viewer writes/draws on a chalkboard similar to the one on the wall behind you (or on a small area of a larger chalkboard, since I suspect some folks have access to big ol’ schoolroom chalkboards instead of personal boards). The chalkboard message/design has to convey a specific theme. I don’t know what the theme should be, but there ya’ go.

Or I dunno, make us record our own wine tasting videos. (I’ll be shocked if that hasn’t been tried as a contest before.)

Under the football: A… wine cork? I’m sure others have guessed that, but that’s the first thing that comes to mind. And not just any wine cork. A special wine cork. I don’t know how special… maybe one of your favorite wines. Maybe corks from 2 or 3 of your favorite wines. Or maybe it’s some fancy shmancy gizmo that I’ve never seen before. Hmm.

Valpolicella: I don’t think I’ve ever had one before. But I will, and soon–if I can find a few at wine shops.

Congrats to the widget contest winners!

And “be at peace” to the departed.

QOTD: The contest should be an online scavenger hunt.

Under the Football: The new WLTV foil cutter.

Underneath the football? No idea. Maybe a WLTV bottle opener? Keys to the Wine Library? I like that idea.

QOTD: I haven’t read many of the other comments under me so I apologize if I’m repeating a previous idea, but here’s mine anyway. I actually have two, both simple. First, I just want to note after reading some of the ideas – I don’t think the contest should limit entry. Let’s not discourage devoted Vayniacs and/or passionate wine lovers by making the contest too cleaver or challenging.

Contest idea one: Make it to comment and maybe mention a “secret” word in your comment. Have the contest open say a week or two. Then you pick a day from that period of episodes and everyone who commented that day goes into the bucket. That way everyone has to comment daily and you get the lurkers into the habit of commenting regularly.

Contest idea two: Everyone who doesn’t already have a Cork’d account, signs up, then the contest is for everyone to review a wine, or vintage, that wasn’t already on the site. They email you a link to their review or something. That way we all benefit in sharing our thoughts on new wines and help grow the database of Cork’d.

Winner: Flies out to the Wine Library to do some sorta shopping spree, their selections are then shipped to their home. Also, they could spend the day with you (if they could stand that LOL) checking out what a “typical” day is like at The Wine Library. Maybe even make an appearance on the show.

Or an even crazier idea, you could fly out to them and do an episode of WLTV from their home, work or whatever.

    Hey Gary-
Thank you for doing a Valpolicella show….This is a wint hat I absolutely love, but nobody from where I am agrees….weird.
QotD – What’s under the football? I really would like to say a eye of thundera toy, but I’m going to go with a little boring….like a random cork.
QotD – The new contest should be either basic like 1) “The Thunder Show Intro.” where we have to make the intro to your show or something random like 2) “greatest wine invention/accessory” where we have to make something that benefits wine or the wine experience somehow. Here anything goes, however, someone that invents something original would benefit wine/the wine experience more than someone who takes a corkscrew and puts glitter all over it…..unless, of course, you like that sort of thing.

    The Original Marc

QOTD: I think it’s already been done, but now that the viewing audience is so much larger, how about contest for whomever can get the most new people on WLTV, using comments as witness.

    Douglas

Here’s a contest idea: In 100 words or less, (preferably less), what would you change at Wine Library if you could run the entire joint for one week?

    Sky M

QOTD: Contest should be who can submit the best video introduction to the show, as voted on by the vayniacs!

Cheers and congratulations to Mr. Canada

QOTD: the next contest should be to travel with the WL crew to an industry tasting to watch and learn about the interaction between the wine producing and retailing businesses. What can I say GV I am a college student studying business. Gotta love a mix of two of my favorite things.

BTW, Gary could you do a show with a complete tour of the WL? I know you kind of did little ones here and there throughout earlier episodes, but a complete tour would be awesome. Some of us don’t live in NYC or NJ.

Another great show Gary. Thanks for remembering those who have passed.

Is the Guennol Lioness under that football?

Best prize? Wine Library franchise in Ventura.

Can’t wait for Snow Day ep and a big ass glass save.

The next contest should be the person who could drink more wine then Gary! And under the football is a pair of jets tickets!!!

What’s wrong with Bolla Valpolicella? or Bolla Bardolino. Remember everyone called Italian white wine Soave Bolla as if it were its own varietal.

QOTD: Allow the winner to go into the wine library cellar and (1) pick one wine to keep and (2) taste a wine with GV (yes, you, GV).

    That would be fun.

  16. December 7, 2007

    peamor

QOTD – Next contest is to host a special edition of the Thunder Show on site at a Jets tailgate…with both Gary *and* his dad.

  17. December 7, 2007

    tnfdude

    QOTD #1: i’m going with cork/screwcap

QOTD #2: since gary’s all about ‘community’, how ’bout a contest that requires vayniac-vayniac collaboration? the only rule would be that it has to involve someone you didn’t know prior to WLTV. and the ‘prize’ could be making gary travel to wherever the winner is, this time…

  18. December 7, 2007

    Tom Cameron

Next contest- Why not give away a bottle from the Gary V picks? I know you don’t want people blindly trusting what you say, but there are a lot of wines and whatnot on that list.

QOTD: Do what the Diggnation guys did.

AWESOME show Gary. Your show is my American Idol.

Ok,Ok, I have been a lurker!!! You have enticed me to respond. I think it should have something to do with the Vayner-Cab. Private tasting?

    Greg B

Big G, I’m in it to win it my friend. There is a Jawa figure under your Jets football.

QOTD: A video contest. Where the Vayniacs have to shoot and edit a commercial for WLTV. The one voted the best, by the staff of WLTV wins.

  22. December 7, 2007

    SmokeyUST

    Fricken Canadians!!

QOTD: A wine tasting in France with GV at Rothschild!!!

  23. December 7, 2007

Gary I love that you “shoot from the hip” but you simply cannot call the three major grapes in a Valpo or Amarone Corey-vino, Ron-dee-nah nah and mole-ah-something. Are you even trying? Wiki it or something, jeez.
