QOTD: Who has brought the most bottles of wine over the last say 3 months at the lowest price per bottle. This QOTD has me a going….. Like, you would have to have the highest bottle count brought with the lowest average price. You would have to have both to win. Talk about marketing………. NO NO NO, you would piss off a lot of Vayniacs with that idea…..forget it….:):):):):):)

    Good idea though!!!!!!!

Under the football, tickets to the Superbowl with you.

    Fun show… OK… so 2 questions:

QOTD #1 (Under the football): Your Jets season tickets for next year! HA!

QOTD #2 (New Contest): Refer a friend contest. Give people a 3 days to see how many people they can refer. You can use the WLTV forum to validated if they have signed up since it checks your email to be valid. The person with the most referals gets a prize. Examples of prizes can be 2 of your favorite wines, free tickets to the Jets game, etc…

The thing i like about this contest is that it would promote WLTV and also get those luckers out in the open.

    Cheers!
    - Rick

A WINE LIMERICK CONTEST….beginning with “A man from New Jersey named Gary….” You’ve convinced me – I’ll have to try that Zardini.

Great ep Gary. Nice to see you back to form, and being quite generous as I might add.

First QOTD: If it were a little earlier in the season I would have to guess a christmas ornament with some sort of WLTV schwagg on it. What a great gift to get or give to that Vayniak.

Second QOTD: Not sure what the contest should be, but I am sure some the ideas mentioned already would make great contests.

QOTD: Did anyone ever design something for the Butter Bandit? Next contest! I like the shopping spree idea at WLTV, that would be hilarious to watch!

Under the football…tickets to the superbowl!

Contest winner should get to go on a wine trip to bordeaux with you for 2006 tastings…

Contest should be who can make the best 1 minute WLTV video….

Under the football? A screw top cap?
Contest…. a referal contest.. must refer at least one new viewer. Prize… complimentary Vayniac Cab share.
Oh…. and btw… I’m done guessing what’s under the football.

QOTD: It should be a creation of a short, very short intro (not everyone likes intros) for the thundershow.

Also under the football is a new wristband.

My contest idea should not involve blogs or adding badges to websites. My site is professional as is my blog and putting anything about wine on it would have negative repercussions. I would suggest the best descriptor of a wine that you can feature but one you already know rather than a crapshoot.
This was a sad week for Austrian wines as Alois Kracher was one of the best, died way too young of pancreatic cancer (not a good way to go) and still has youngish children, and there is no one in his family to my knowledge who can carry on his tradition.
The Valpolicellas in this episode especially the Zardini will go in my collection. Thanks

QOTD1: Screw cap from a wine bottle?
QOTD2: Next contest? How about a WLTV rap contest? (Video option…I no has l33t video editing skillz.)

    Next Contest –
I like some of the ideas I’ve read from the other comments. Having you come by for a tasting party would be great. I also like some of the ideas about tasting new wines for the entry to the contest. Although I think it should be more about tasting objects with the wines, like what you did on Conan or Ellen. Gary, make the masses eat dirt and bacon.

I’m not sure you could beat me in paper football by the way

Maybe you could incorporate that into the contest. How can you have a paper football tournament over the internet?

    Thanks for all the fun.

How many posts do you have to have to not be a lurker?

QOTD: Ok – this is the small is the new big Seth Godin inspired contest.

The sneezer contest. You get two people to post on Wine Library everyday for a week who have not yet posted, separate IP address or whatever to confirm they are actually others. So the winner is you the person who refers the two newbies and your two buds.

So for each person over two who lists you as a reference and posts each day for a week in the comment section you get an entry. Maybe a little complicated to sort out.

I don’t know about the prize because they are usually better than what I even think of.

Also, under the Jets Football is Erik Kastner’s kid.

Idea For Contest…..Who can go out and promote more people in one week to e-mail gary by visiting WLTV’s website. The body of the e-mail would have to contain the Name And E-Mail address of the person who referred them to the website to E-Mail GaryV. The Prize….Gary arranges the winner and 1 guest to be invited to Pinot Boot Camp In Oregon by getting an Oregon Winery To Invite That Winner and Gary picks up the airfare and accomodations for the week. I think like the widget contest my idea offers a great prize but also draws more attention and support to WLTV and The Wine Library. I know I would be personally knocking on every door in my neighborhood and to every person I spoke to to get them to E-mail Gary and to mention my name!!

I have had a few wine tasting parties at my house, bringing in a sommelier to educate the crowd. I would certainly do that again and send a picture for a contest.

hey, how did my user name change before? Had to add another comment to make sure I am elgible.

    GV,
    QOTD: ?
Contest: My wife and I love to have wine tasting parties and every time we have had one…it is a huge success. Not to mention, we purchase a ton of wine prior to the event. Next Contest: Road Show: The winner of next contest would receive an all expense wine tasting with you as the guest…and your wife. Food parings, protocol and Thunder! To win, each contestant would have to describe their best idea of what the night would “look” like…that way, WL would have the opportunity to choose which one best fits what you would like to do. So…contestants get to dream about a wine tasting event, you get to choose where you would go, then, Mott could film the event and post on a future episode of WL TV.
    I think it has “legs”!

Easily the best wine shop in Mpls. Best prices, best sales, best cheese shop, and the most low-key, knowledgeable staff.

Contest idea: Have people hold a wine tasting of their own with more than 4 people. Take a picture, send it in. Do a drawing of the entries.
