GV, really interesting show to see what places are serving up and pricing at in NYC. Gives me good comparison to the market here in NC.

QOTD: My favorate place to sip/consume great, and fairly priced wine is a place called Enoteca Vin, downtown Raleigh NC. They offer a variety of wines by the glass at 1oz, 3oz, 5oz (or bottle) servings and are fairly priced. The place also serves up great food. Worth seeking out if you every make down here.

Here is their web site if you care to review the wine list and pricing

I love that they offer you a CNdP for a glass pour, at a very reasonable price.

QOTD: There is a little place in south Minneapolis called Blackbird. A great little place with a well known chef, an outstanding menu, and unique wines served with minimal markup.

QOTD: There was this bar in San Diego I went to one time that only sold wine. It was amazing. There were like 8 of us and like 8 different bottles of wine. I was black out drunk 2 hours later but what a great time.

I think I heard the place has since closed. Bummer.

Great EP GV, love the field trips and hope you do many more….

Flavor Pops – frozen ice in a plastic tube…)

QOTD – have to say my own kitchen. Food is great and the wine is much cheaper than restaruants and usually much better!!! I hate the restaruant mark up game!!!!

Del Posto has what I consider a great deal (for upscale/NYC/celebrity chef) – eat a 4-course dinner at the “enoteca” (bar), and for $19 you get a wine pairing with each course. The wine is all Italian, and perfect with the food.

QOTD: In NYC, probably Gramercy Tavern. Also Del Posto. And in the dirty JERZ, Roots in Summit is pretty decent. They even have a few WINTAGE ports by the glass.

GV, so did Mark E’s tasting note was deleted because he gave Rubicon a 98-pointer!! I see how you are GV, I see how you are!!!!

btw, once had a cab by the glass at…some Italian joint, I had to ask what it was…turns out it was a Mondavi, but the waiter couldn’t tell me if it was the $5 Mondavi, the regular cab, the reserve or the Oakville? best glass I ever had from a restuarant though without ordering a bottle.

QOTD: Commonwealth Market, Charlotte NC. They have a great wine selection…thanks Matt…eclectic crowd and you can get a bottle and sit outside and enjoy :-)

VERY cool ep. Big ups to Andre Mack and Sideshow Mark for their help with this episode!!!

QOTD: Mosaic in downtown DEEEETROIT! I haven’t really been to a whole lot of ‘wine’ restaurants… mostly just decent restaurants that serve wine. 95% of my wine is consumed at home or at friend’s houses.

love the concept this week. have Mott link up the restaurants though.

QOTD – probably Sel de la Terre (Boston), but I’ve been finding some gems lately at some of the small Italian restaurants in the North End

QOTD: How can there be any answer other than Bern’s Steakhouse in Tampa.

    Silly rabbit.

    KNode

QOTD: Unless it’s a special occasion I usually don’t order wine at restaurants (mainly because I know how ridiculous the markup is). But I have enjoyed the wine list at The Grape in Dallas on more than one occasion, so due to my limited experiences I will say that one.

great episode. there’s a great new place in New Brunswick with a fabulous wine list & tapas menu – Daryl Wine Bar (www.darylwinebar.com). they do 2, 4, and 6 ounce glasses of wine, and if you really like something they also have a shop attached and you can buy the bottles at retail price. awesome.
