QOTD: I enjoy nice full bodied reds in the Brazilian Steakhouses. You get to sample the wine with various cuts and types of meats in one seating.

Love the on location episodes lately GV, well done!
LMAO on that end clip, wow, that was some funny sh*t!
QOTD: Purans because I can bring my own bottle for a corkage fee of $5 ;-) AOC is my second favorite place to drink wine in L.A. amazing selection of wine by the glass, think they offer around 50 wines by the glass.

QOTD: Easy one, 3rd Corner in Ocean Beach, CA. This place is a restaurant/wine bar and retail store with great prices on their wine. The menu is ecxellent and the staff knowledgable.

QOTD: That’s a really tough one. Too many in NY. Locally, Cafe Nuovo in Providence has a great list.

    Nice show Gary.

You left Andre hanging with the handshake there. You need to tighten up the third component of the handshake. Ask some guys around the store…they’ll tell you. (And probably chuckle that I pointed this out.) You at least came correct with the knuckle mash at the end.

I always find wine pricing very interesting. $15 a glass when the bottle costs $25–likely $15 wholesale. Figuring that you get 4 glasses per bottle, we’re talking $60 for a $25 bottle. Yet another reason I love Wine Library, and why I am often reluctant to order wine when dining out. The more I buy, the hard it its to accept the 300-400% markup.

Nevertheless, your visit to Shellys was a flashback for me. I went there a few times when I worked/lived in New York.

QOTD: In DC, maybe CityZen or the Blue Duck Tavern. I had a great wine and food experience at Farallon in San Francisco.

I just fell off my chair laughing at that last clip!!!

My favorite wine bar would be L’Ombretta. A nice Italian wine bar on the west coast.

Il Chianti Ristorante, Saratoga Springs. Come in August , watch some famulous horse racing but leave after the 8th race so you can get a table at this fabulous restaurant, whose chef and also its owner were born and raised in Italy.

Enjoyed the episode… you’re really on a nice run of excellent episodes! Thank you!

QOTD: Piazza Italia in Portland has some awesome Italian wines by the glass.

QOTD: Are you kidding me! I live in Wisconsin, I’m not as spoiled as you New Yorkers are. The only restaurants we have are places like “Applebees”, “TGI Fridays”, and other lame places with bad food and lousy selections.

Thanks for the road show. I like places that have a decent selection of wines by the glass, but generally these are the higher price-point restaurants. Otherwise it’s the $5 “house red”.

Great little comedy bit at the end too … I’m ROFL! Good job Mark E.

QOTD: I would have to say my favorite restaurant would have to be 58 degrees in Sacramento. I went there in the summer of 2002 and had a wonderful time with their selections by the taste, glass, and bottle. I look forward to another night there in the near future….

QOTD: I like making friends with the flight attendants on long-haul flights. They usually bring the good stuff from first class back to my lowly economy seat. Otherwise, I rarely buy wine by the glass at most restaurants because it’s been open for a week and isn’t worth the price.

QOTD: Incredible timing for this question. I just saved an article about a NY Italian restaurant that serves 50 wines by the glass: Barcibo Enoteca. As it’s very near Lincoln Center, my friend and I are going to try it for our next Metropolitan Opera event in April.
In Albuquerque, one of our favorite restaurants, Vernon’s, has a liquor store attached and lets you bring in a purchased bottle for a $15.00 charge. This is the best deal we’ve found. We can finally get a decent wine with dinner without breaking the bank or relying on the putrid yet overpriced wine by the glass offerings at many places.

Hard to say what my favorite restaurant to drink wine because I usually drink beer when I am out to drink.

I would say Proof in DC is up there for wine, they have the enomatic pouring system which is kind of cool to see.

    QotD: Kodama Sushi, NYC

I particularly love their choice of plum wine and sake.

QOTD: There are only three I’ll drink wine at – Olive Garden (national chain), Portobello (grill in Elk City, OK) and the local Italian restaurant, Adamo’s. Of those three, I’ve drank wine more often at the Portobello.
