Except for the noise in the background, great episode! The sommelier seemed like a good guy.

QOTD: Baccaro in Champaign. Very good selection of Italian wines, and the food is very very good too.

Nice episode, I just enjoy learning all I can about the many aspects of wine. Had no idea that 2002 was a supposedly bad year for wine from Italy.

QOTD: Tucci Benucch, Italian place in Mall of America.

QOTD: Ibiza, a tapas and wine bar in Pittsburgh, PA! they offer wine flights starting at $10, grouped (usually) in sets of four by region or country. So, you get four half-glasses of wine with your amazing, amazing tapas!

Bonus: the wait staff actually knows enough about the wines to help you pair with the 15 dishes that you just couldn’t pass up!

Interesting episode. We don’t get out much.

QOTD: As I said, “We don’t get out much.” However, we have had wine at Java Monkey Coffee and Wine Bar (we were there because Carl’s band had a gig there). We need to get out more.

WLTV-On-Location: Informative episode, and it’s fun to see guests and a different setting. Good stuff.

QOTD: Hmm… Sometimes I like to drink wine at a restaurant because that restaurant serves amazing food. Other times, it’s because I simply enjoy the ambiance—the restaurant is just a great cozy comfy place to sip a while. I’m not into the habit of choosing restaurants solely for their wine lists, and I don’t have a favorite wine bar.

No matter what restaurant I’m at, if something enjoyable catches my eye when I glance over the wine menu, and the place has a great atmosphere, and I’m with good company, and the food is tasty, then I’m a happy lady.

Panned vintages: I’ve been experimenting with this off & on for a while. I love to spend significantly less money than I would for a raved-about vintage, plus these are wines I can drink now or soon. Sure, sometimes I bring home a bottle of not-so-good wine, but when I open a good or great wine wearing a “bad” year on its label, I get stupidhappy.

    End clip: Hilarious.

Thanks for remining me about nebbiolo. Gary- I tend to chose wines by what I’m eating. With what meal would you pair a nebbiolo? QOTD: Gracies, Providence, RI

Pazzo Italian Cafe in Rocky Hill or Glastonbury, Connecticut. No liquor license so it’s BYOB. I can drink my expensive bottles for the price I paid and eat great food.

well in yountville ca there is a place called Groezingers. That is the best place other then your house to drink wine but it’s not a restaurant. It’s a wine merchant.

The best restaruant to drink wine is Nora’s wine bar & osteria on the west side of Vegas!

    Thanks for the show!

QOTD: I work right next to Morrell Wine Bar. It’s located in Rockefeller Center and has a great wine by the glass list. Ask for Will behind the bar. He’s very friendly and knowledgeable. They have by the glass some higher end wines (2003 Pontet Canet) as well as some fantastic yet more obscure wines from the Loire Valley and lesser known regions of Italy. It has been a great source of my wine education.

Sorry, but out here in the stix the Venn diagram where good restaurant wine list meets good price does not exist–especially by the glass. Although there’s this wine shop in West Des Moines …

QOD: the front porch. My food is better, my wine is better, my stems are better, my prices are better.
