Very nice episode, but gez GV, calm down, don’t be so wordy, get a grip.

QOTD – Must keep the tradition going (decades old) — Cold Duck!

But we will have our traditional oyster stew with a Belle Pente Dry Muscat.

I’m enjoying this series – it’s great to hear things from the sommelier perspective.

I’ve had several bottles of the Aigle Blanc Vouvray over the past few months and it is outstanding. WL does indeed sell it (item 35663). Amazing value for $20. For anyone who gives it a try, I highly recommend opening at least an hour in advance or decanting as William did.

QOTD: I’d like to be drinking an aged Cote-de-Nuit Burgundy on New Year’s Eve. Don’t know what I’ll actually be drinking yet.

Thoroughly enjoyable episode—-had a great time listening to both of you. This is a great format going from place to place tasting and critiquing. QOTD–have not yet picked out the wines for New Years Eve but the family participates in a progressive dinner and we have the main course this year. Osso Bucco is on the menu so the Italian section of the wine racks will take a direct hit. Can’t wait—–any suggestions from the Vayniacs—PM me—thanx–

Gary, the next contest you do, the prize should be we get to tag along with you for a week as you got to wine tastings in New York restaurants! Great show. Wish I had Bill’s knowledge, job, … and hair.

QOTD: A big bold Zinfandel or Cabernet Sauvignon!

Great episode. I’m liking these touring shows. The back and forth we’re getting is great; really informative.

Another awesome episode. Bill’s voice sounds very similar to Matt Damon. Very odd.

QOTD: Any and everything. Champagne, red, white. I think I will keep the quality stuff limited to the first few bottles only.

    Neil

Hartwell Estate Cabernet all the way baby!

  8. December 12, 2007

QOTD: I will be drinking Ballatore Rosso Spumante. Had it bought and chilling for a month.

Gary, stop hating on the Patriots! Future HOF inductee Tom Brady cannot help but be great. You’ll see that on Sunday :-)

QOTD: Well, if I could have ANY wine on New Year’s Eve… may as well have the 1961 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild since this is dreamland and also that’s my birth year and also was a great year in Bordeaux. In reality I’ll probably have some Prosecco, heh heh.

Another informative winner GV. QOTD: New Years Eve? Whatever bubbly is on-hand, Brut most likely.

    Great Show!!!

QOTD: I hope to open a bottle of 2000 Silver Oak Nappa Cabernet or 1997 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet.

So you ARE meant to decant white wines too…

    Dr T from N. Carolina

If I could have any wine, it would be an old vintage Bual; but I’ll probably be drinking a simple rose, with a little spumante late in the evening.

QOTD: For this year in particular, a Colchagua Cabernet, because I’ll be in Chile.

    Great show Bill

    and you too Gary!!!

Great job Gary, I love all the “inside” talk between you as a retailer and your guest as a sommelier. Interesting insights.

QOD – If I could drink anything on New Year’s Eve, it would be Chateau D’Yquem. Partly because I think that would be a great party wine, but mostly ‘cuz I just really want to taste that wine someday!

    Another great offsite EP Sensei!!

1st – Wednesday nights you should play….”More Cowbell”!!! Casue your the cock of the walk Baby!!!

2nd – I have posted TN’s on forum of the 1990 Domaine Du Viking Vouvray and love the wine. I would suggest everyone try and find one of the older Chennin Blanc’s. We really enjoyed it and still have four in the cellar….Just awesome with Thai or any other spicier dish!! the mouthfeel is lushious, the hint of sweetness and the lemon/pineapple flavors are wonderful!!

QOTD – have not been able to plan that far ahead yet, but will be popping several bottles and will probably include a couple sparklers. We visited Mumm in october and have a few sparkling Pinots which are very nice. Bill thanks for making me think ahead….:)

    Why is everyone killing Bill?

QOTD: I will be drinking Miller High Life: The champagne of beers!

    Timothy Burke

Another great episode, so glad to see Gary roaming the streets and checking out what places are offering.

QOTD: New Years Eve I’ll probably be drinking a Pinot Grigio with my buddy since he is a huge fan of Pinot Grigio Wines. So whatever he chooses I’ll dig into. Probably also drink a Tom Collins as my non-Wine drink.

    Obama_Man

Something tells me that Bill spends most of his nights in the Carlylse, smooth ass mother f*&&* ;) . !

QOTD: That $850 Italian wine from our favorite Montana steak shop! :)

  21. December 12, 2007

    purplejuicebruce

Good show! QOTD…well on New Years I can hardly be expected to limit myself to one bottle so I’ll probably raid the wine cellar and drink what ever looks good at the time.

  22. December 12, 2007

    Mr.Sato

QOTD: Hmm… I’m still working on the Christmas wine list! But since Bill wants to know, Probably start with the 2004 Clos des Andes (Argentine Malbec) because we’re going to have some savory grilled beef cube and veggies cooked using skewers (we like stand up dinners, like finger foods in size, but heftier), and always serve things like dark chocolates, blueberries, black grapes, and stawberries. Then maybe once the dinner is done, while wating for the champagne moment, 2003 Vin de Pays d”Oc Jean-Louis Denois “Chloé” because it is totally yummy on its own, and I have some. For the toast, Fleury “Carte Rouge” Brut Champagne. Sorry, I know they mostly aren’t wine library wines, but….

I enjoyed this episode a lot, largely becauase of Bill the sommelier. He reminds me a lot of myself, only better dressed. LOL Oh, and I don’t think he knows who Green Arrow is. Here’s a link for him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Arrow

    CindyW

QOTD: Only one bottle of wine on New Year’s Eve????? :) We actually usually have a really nice sake on New Year’s Eve, since our tradition is to make sushi at home. We’ll probably open up some bubbly, or else grab something special to try, like the 2006 Amon Ra.

    Social Project Brian

Gary, I like the look and feel integration of WL. Now it looks more Cork’dy, matches WLTV. Nice.
