Peeps i don’t know about you but i’m tired of listening to old school sensory interpritations of wines in regards to the palate and nose…i love calling like it is like gv and making people uncomfortable with my analogies…especially old wine reps and the stuck-ups…ha ha ha!!!

qod- i have a mag of segura vuidas $9.99 costco beggin for it!!!

    Gary,

I’ve been lurking around on WLTV since I saw you on Conan. Really awesome job with the show, you truly do make wine fun and accessible!

Awesome episode, by the way! I thought William did a great job too. Can’t wait to see more!

    Keep up the good work.

2 Things Gary, this series is awesome! You need to come to Los Angeles and film a week here with your picks of places to drink. 2, Have you ever thought of doing a live show at a meet up ala Diggnation?

GV- I like the change. The interaction with others is always fun. Have not made up my mind yet n the wine selectioon for New Years Eve.

    2000 Taittinger Comtes Rose!

almost 25 bones for a single glass of that pinot?! That’s more than a whole bottle at WL! I know that it’s NY, and it’s fancy, and they have to make their profit somewhere but give me a freaking break! 5 times retail is just F-ing highway robbery!!!

QOTD: Duval-leroy brut NV is what I’ll be popping (in an ideal world it’d be 1996 krug, but ya know)

I’m LOVING these on-location shoots. Can’t wait until Gary really takes the act on the road and talks to Kermit Lynch in Cali.

first of all – glad to see you proppin out Walla Walla again. I love this town. And REALLY I think you should try the Otis Kenyon 2005 Syrah – would probably be right up your alley. I tried it last night and it’s pretty vegetal – smelled like cabbage! I prefer their 2005 Cabernet but then again – I am a Cab girl. You know – if you started shipping to WA I bet AmericanWinery.com could send you a bottle of each. And I won’t even care if you don’t like them. That just means more for me.

QOTD: Hopefully some Schramsberg Mirabelle Brut.

Feeling sad…you told me to turn off the Thunder show!!!

Thanks for reminding me how much it sucks to be a CKC. Maybe now I’ll be motivated to get that 80 hour/week big-firm job and be really really miserable while I cash in humongous paychecks…

QOTD: Probably will go for a sparkling wine, on the cheaper side. Hoping to try some Cava soon, too!!!

QOTD: If Bill’s buying I’d be drinking Château d’Yquem on New Years. Since it’s me and I’m working the next day I might roll with a little Mountain Dome Brut.

QOTD: 1997 Vitanza Brunello with a nice fillet mignon. –Then drink a lot of cheap champagne.

Like the road shows. Gary, you started out the show like Giuliani’s son at the inauguration–climbing out of the seat and playing on the piano while Bill was talking. I, too, thought Bill was a little uptight at first, but he proved that looks can be deceiving.

$25 a glass?! See my comment from yesterday about by-the-glass pricing and just plug it into this post. They are selling the Ici for $24 a glass which is more than retail, let alone wholesale. I mention this because this pricing issue is what sends people running from wine. It’s unapproachable. Now, I must admit that we’re talking Cafe Carlyle prices, which is not a place most people would go on a regular basis. I paid a lot at the Inn at Little Washington because it was experience, but I wouldn’t drink there with any regularity. I hope Bill is not too pissed that you dissed some of his wine offerings as PAZZZZZZes.

One bit of constructive criticism…try not to constantly cut off your guests mid-sentence. Let us hear from them, too.

QOTD: I, too, haven’t thought that far ahead, but since my wife doesn’t really drink, I may reserve opening Champagne and try one of my Brown Estate Vineyard selections–either their ‘04 Zin or the Late Harvest Zin.

Best show ever! There was a chemistry between a great chemistry between you and the sommelier that I hesitate to describe; Two guys who love wine but are as different as Oscar & Felix

GV – Love the road shows for a change in scenery.

QOTD – Been holding onto a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Rose Champagne that I will probably pop open.

QOTD- Opus one, jsut because I have never tried it.

QOTD: Wine? On New Year’s Eve? I wish. No I’ll be doing the centurion with all my friends (a shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes…gets you a lot drunker than you’d think)

I’d prefer to have wine when I’m not drunk, then I can appreciate it better!

Gary-I didn’t finish the show because I have never purchased an ‘05 Bordeaux. But I like how you dropped fighting references in that posh room. “Buster Douglas,” “Sweep the leg Johnny.” Radical. Time to watch Mayweather’s check hook again!

Nice job on the piano, too. I think Bill needs to grab the tambourine.

    Jaybird

Gary you are such a smart person even smarter then William looks! (Now that is smart)
QOTD: I have a couple 2000 Chateau Pavie but I think I will wait on that so I’m gonna choose something I can’t get my damb hands on…Kosta Brown any one of last years single vineyard. You know what if I didn’t have to pay for it I would uncork a Domaine De La Romanee Conti (Tache or a Romanee Conti vineyard).

    g,

i thought we were going to play nice, but i see you have thrown down the gauntlet.

#1 cranberries are king, especially here on Cape Cod where we have bogs everywhere.
#2 you hate tom brady ? dont even go there, you just wish the jets had somebody like brady, or any of our QBs.
#3 this sunday, the pats and the jets. a 24 point spread !

    ’nuff said.

oh, the wine shows this week have been great. but you have to calm down, try the decaf !
