I had a dream last night in which William was GV and vice versa. Picture GV with some pomade in his hair, the glasses, & tie and William all frazzled and hyped up over the Jets.

NYE – I’m looking for a sparkling Chenin Blanc. Do you where I can find some?

QOTD: I’m thinking maybe an aged Riesling. I better get my ’90s in the mail darnit! Being a young’un that’s aged enough for me! :)

Very nice to see you out and about and out of your elememt. This is a great idea for a nation wide production. You can call it “All roads lead to Wine” with Gary Vee your host…lol

I’l be drinking Cristal Rose 1996 on new Years.

After that, I was actually going to ask you to recommend something so if you read this please get back to me. You have my 45.com emial adresss….if not Dennis has it.

    Thanks

Vouvray…Chenin…around here we call it “gateway” wine. We use it like methadone to get rookies of off bombastic CA chards.

Since Gary´s sick of the comments ;) , may I just say that Bill is HOT!

QOTD: a sparkling… maybe I´ll try the Ana Codorniu rosé…

even though you were busting on his pledge pin, i dig william. so far, he is my favorite this week. great selection too.
qotd: new years. classic bollinger is a great 40 bucks well spent. my friend just bought a 1990 angerville volnay 1er cru champan. boom! that is what i am talkin’ about.
last year we had an 1982 aloxe – corton and an 1989 savigny 1er cru haute jarons

    What a great episode!
I saw Woody perform there last week and got autographed book!
Yes, prices are outrageous for what the café offers, but show was incredible.

    Garry,
    I love Loire wines.
Recently I had mind boggling Savenierres.
I think Loire whites episode is long overdue.

Bill seemed a really cool guy. He was a really good sport about you giving him a hard time, and had a great dry sense of humor. His dryness juxtaposed with your in-your-faceness was a great combo. You guys seem like a good team.

QOTD: Probably a vintage champagne with my wife. Not sure which yet though. Grower and Thiese most likely.

So honest to god my first impression of William is exactly what you would think of an upper east side somm. But turns out he was a pretty cool dude. Good show

QOTD: For a bubbler it would be Krug Clos de Mesnil (gotta love the blanc de blancs) and for an other wine perhaps a bottle of 1995 Le montrachet with a couple of great friends/family.

QOTD: New Year’s Eve: I think I’ll be working that night, so I’ll keep my answer within the realm of our wine list rather than what I have at home: I’ll try to snag a glass of Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rose Champagne… but one of our by-the-glass red specials is more likely.

    Hi Gary,
I am really enjoying your shows with guests, but sometimes you come across as being disrespectful to your guests. If you think someone is a loser, don’t have him on the show. Take the higher ground, and treat people as you would want to be treated.

QOTD: New years eve – after seeing twee eps where the 2002 Bordeaux Vintage was tasted, I will drink some Lafon Rochet 2002.

And I need some Champagne to bubble as well, dunno which one yet.. How about a nice Champagne episode? :D

  21. December 13, 2007

    J.Rice

Well, I really love Champagne, especially with food more than anything, but I’ll probably be sipping on that on New Year’s as well. I’ve never tried a really nice prestige cuvee Champagne, or even a vintage Champagne for that matter. That’s what I want to try. And as Champagne isn’t as much my specialty as other things, I’d be up for some quality recommendations. Anybody got one?? Otherwise, I’d definitely go for a nice Chateau Margaux or something of the likes. Except I’d probably be sleeping by midnight because I’d down the whole bottle myself. Heh heh.

At the beginning of the show I was like, oh-oh this Bill guy is way too straight-laced to make it through 20 minutes of Gary….but he was cool in an understated kind of way and just rolled with it. Good show. As for what I would drink on New Years I guess the sky’s the limit…hmmmm…maybe an old Sassacaia? But realistically it’s probably be a 2003 Marciliano or Oreno. Or perhaps some 2004 Kanonkop Pinotgage…I’ll have to go see what I got left.

Seriously good thick daiginjou sake here in Japan – New Year is the festival that’s celebrated over here and there’s even a special sake everyone has for breakfast!

I’m loving the NYC tour. Interesting stuff. I’m glad that you are not pulling any punches.

    QOTD: No fscking clue!

    QOTD:

I would actually like to have some sake, Nanbu Bijin Sake Ancient Pillars, the one Gary introduced us to.
