Hey! I liked the Karate Kid reference in there… show no mercy.
QOTD: I’d love to ring in the new year with a bottle of Dom Perignon, which I’ve never had.

Classic episode, Gary! Great guest, as well…bring him back on the show soon! In fact, the two of you should each pick wines for the other to blind-taste.

QOTD: That’s actually a great question, because New Year’s Eve is not normally a time when you have people gathered around who want to sort through and talk about the features of the wine they drink. I’m a big time fan of Italian reds (and would drink them on just about any occasion, but this year I think I’ll attack the Champagne on that night to see what I find.

I’m getting my peeps together for a nice 6-course at a byo, so I can’t wait to see what everyone brings. Of course, I will have at least some bubbly – I might go cheap and get a few bottles of Louis Bouillot NV Blanc de Noirs for sharing. I also have a half of Veuve Cliquot that I might keep as my secret stash. Ooo…can’t wait!

The Vouvray is $25 a glass at the Carlylse and $20 a bottle at Wine Library. Hmmm. And I doubt that Gary is selling below cost.

    QOTD. Depends on the food.

QotD: depends on the menu, but probably we’ll drink the best wine I have to go with veal. Wait, my wife hates pinot. I’ll go with Bella Lilly Hill zin.

You gotta be rolling big in NYC for BTG! $24/Glass for the Ici/La-Bas. That’s north of the bottle price!

QOTD: I have no idea yet. I don’t usually plan that far ahead. Probably some bubbly.

Mooochoo Thanx for another coool episode!!
Bill, great job, you should have your own
    wine show!!

Does anyone else think Bill looks out of his element? He clearly knows a lot about wine so I don’t mean that, but he just doesn’t seem like he’s meant to look so…stuffy.

QOTD: I’m determined to break out of the cheap champagne mold this year (think Andre) and buy some reasonably priced Proseccos and sparkling wines for everyone to drink at my party.

  23. December 13, 2007

    CHATrBox

Another nice field trip episode! It’s nice to live vicariously through GVNC because more than likely none of us will ever visit the inside of that room.

QOTD: To know this would take planning and I don’t often pre-plan my wine drinking. Usually I reserve special bottles for T-day or Christmas, to go with the great food, and then just role with it for New Year’s. This year though at some point I’ll probably be drinking the 1997 Argyle Extended Tirage Bubbly…either before or after several PBRs!

Great show….William is a keeper….he is the straight guy in your over the top comdey act….laurel and hardy…sans the fat suit :)
