A local grocer had it for $7 too, so you can’t beat that. I’ll be at a wedding though so I’ll drink whatever they’re pouring.

Gary, wow two back to back RAD shows… I love the fact you are going out to see what is going on in the market place… It really helps me, since i am starting a wine bar!!!

New Years Eve I am thinking Red.. I am thinking I need to review a Cab episode and find a good Cab to drink…

QotD: After watching the Icewine show, I am saving my 187ml of Jackson-Triggs Vidal Icewine. Although mine appears to be non-vintage, I look forward to comparing it to your review. Why this wine? Well, besides the fact that it will be the first wine I have that you have reviewed, it will also be a sweet way to ring in the new year.

GV great show. You finally met your match. You had a guest who was an equal (or better) to you, palate to palate. On that level Bill rocks. For a geeky, stuffy SOM that is.

No need to worry about your job. But he could host while you are on vacation. It would be similar to Tommy Newsom standing-in for Doc Holiday on the Tonight Show..

QOTD: Rombauer Chard. Itâ??s what the wife likes.

QoTD: I’m not sure what exactly I’ll be drinking on New Year’s Eve, although I’m sure it will be champagne. Since I’ll be at work it’ll be whatever my boss is generous enough to pour (and probably not a grower champagne–sorry Gary), but for the wee hours of the morning once I get out of the restaurant, I’m considering getting a bottle of drappier, pierre peters, or henri billiot (or maybe all 3 if the holiday season is really good to me).

QOTD: If I have friends over for New years Eve, I’ll pull out a Provenance Merlot and maybe a Bell Claret that’s been resting a couple of years. If I go out, I’m not going to drink anything.

I’m having fun visiting with the som’s in NYC with you. Can you do something with barrel tasting?

I wonder what Sasha’s expression would look like if he heard you, GV, describe a wine with the adjective “dirty underpants” or “nasty, old, used jockstrap found under a chicken coup”, or whatever. Would he grimace, or would he think, “yea, another case sold!”? My guess is it wouldn’t work in a restaurant situation. Nevertheless, I love these realistic descriptions anyway. Rather than use the old “Funk” descriptor for some Rhone varietals, GV goes one step closer and uses undergarments. I love it. Now, my wife will know when she sniffysnifs my underwear or jockstrap(really don’t have one anymore), all she has to say is “Funky”.

After reading some of the comments about William, i thought he was gonna be the new Sir GV. I though he was funny and bustin on gary a bit. Good show. I love the road thing. Just wish I had money and time to go relive your tour.

You would think a highbrow, expensive joint like The Carlyle could get a table that doesn’t rock back and forth, WTF? I hate that when I am at a restaurant and the table is all over the place.

QOTD: Gotta 96 & 97 George De Latoure I have been dying to drink.

Our local wineshop actually carries one of the grower champagnes which was just reviewed on WLTV so I thought we’d try that this New Years Eve. I’ve always enjoyed the Roederer so we’ll be having that as well. Just for kicks also picked up a bottle of the La Luna Lambrusco – not certain what to expect there, just sounded like something different and fun.

Hey Gary, good move not letting pussy-boy Billy with the Brylcreme part not spit; you could tell he likes to swallow. Did you notice that he was a bit put-off when you said you would not make-out with him over that wine?
P.S. Cut back on the speed a little; your pupils were like saucers. Try a good spliff occasionally. Thanks for the variety, but fuck NYC. Try Chicago for a more real experience if you crave the big-city life style.

I just want to say that today I actually tasted the vegetals Gary always talks about. Before I was like, barnyard, sure!…dirk, rocks, cave, moss! of course! but veggies? And I eat a lot of those. So today I was really excited that the vegetal component came out to play with me. Anyway, on new years I have no idea what I’ll be drinking, definately bubbly but have no idea…i love the louis jadot rose but i’m always up for something new and i could see myself starting off with something fresh but having a back up….also, your friend is kind of emo. Wine is happy. Tell him to cheer the hell up.

Great episode – thanks Bill and Gary – I like the “field trip” aspect of the tastings and the reference to the hotel and the room where you shot this from. Did Bill say Woody Allen plays piano there ?
