That was epic! Fun, fun stuff, and nice find with the hundred-buck chuck. Best pure Vayniac guest.

QOTD: I bought a case of La Fleur des Pins Graves, because it is was such a good QPR at twelve bones. It’s one of the few dessert wines I can pop just ’cause I wanna, and it still delivers quality.

Great episode, DK touching on politics but keeping it vino centric! QOTD: The only wine i’ve bought more than 6 bottles of is De Martino Single Vineyard Malbec, Maule Valley Chile 2006.

DK ranks up there in the top 3 guests in my book, he was hilarious! Exceptional episode and glad I finally got to see it :) Never bought a case of wine, but did buy 3 bottles of 2001 Markus Molitor Auslese Riesling on clearance for $4.95 each! I think the wine shop thought they were getting old, that’s just too funny!

This offically makes my top 10 episodes list. I love that guy man, what passion! I agree completely on the laws. There are so many friends I have around the country Id love to send Washington wine to…. cant. Id love to grab wines from you….cant. Complete @#*&#&*@!!!! QOTD: Ive never bought a case, but if I did Id probably buy a case of this Asian Pear wine from a winery in Peshastin, WA. http://www.icicleridgewinery.com (shameless plug). They do really good wines and a case wouldnt break my bank ( though $300 is a lot ), and I know Id enjoy every drop.

bought a case? many, many. All-time favorite is the 2001 Allegrini Amarone. I’ve bought 3 cases so far & think I have most of 2 cases left.

    check my cellar…

awesome show! great leaders bring about great followers. I have never bought a 12 bottle case of anything, but I did buy a 6bt case of Yalumba Viognier Eden Valley 2004. I am definitely planning to buy cases for my kids…when I have some that is.

I think your co-host is a nice fellow and someone I would like to share a glass of wine with. However he is holding the glass totally wrong. You have to hold the wineglass at the stem or at the base (”the little plate”) of the stem. This is for two reasons: first, it does look more elegant. Second, your wine will be heated by body temperature to a much less extent.

    I don’t roll heavy in case buys – I am a 3 to 6 bottle buyer.
However, several wines I have bought by the case:

    Elderton Command Shiraz
    Windmill Old Vine Zin
    Pillar Box Red
Four Vines Naked Chardonnay – thanks to GV

DK! Epic!! Epic!! You ROCK! Nice job! Seriously, I live in Ohio and until the Supreme Court ruling against Michigan and New York, we were stuck in a similar position. I mean, what is wrong with Maryland? I think I read that it is actually a FELONY to ship wine to Maryland. Come on! FREE THE GRAPES!

QOTD: The first wine I bought a case of was the 2000 Chateau d’Armailhac because it was the only 200 Bordeaux that got decent reviews that I could afford and get in Ohio at the time (summer of 2003).

Last case of wine I bought was wild bunch red, because a bunch of my friends have been “wild bunch” members for over 20 years playing softball together. For a $10 wine, not bad.

great show! DK did a nice job. great QOD… I’ve never really bought a full case of one wine. I recently bought a 1/2 case of Altano Douro reserva 2003.

    Great show! Great job, DK!

I too have only ever purchased an entire case of the same wine at one time: the 2003 Seghesio Sonoma Zin because I was pissed that I did not step up and get a case of the 2002, which really rocked, and the 2003 was pretty good too.

I buy cases at least 3-4 times a year.

A must every year is the Buehler Zin, great value for Napa.

Nipozzano Ghianti – another great value wine.

The Cotes Du Rhone of the season, this years is from WL Domaine Brusset Cotes Du Rhone Villages Cairanne

I will also mix in another case or two of value wine. I learned my lesson years ago, when I came across the 2001 Castle Rock Zin that was $10 an brought the Thunder. I turned around and it was GONE! No more, get a bottle or two, taste and then immediately start your hunt to bag a case or two. Even if you do not have a cellar, you will amaze your friends with your find.

Great Show. Way to give Gary a run for his money.

QOTD: Green and Red Zinfandel. Only full case I’ve ever bought. It was sad to see the last one pulled out and enjoyed.

WOW! What a show G-Man! DK rocked the thunder show. You cleary have someone who could sub for you on sick days, vacation, etc. Not sure if any guest will be able to measure up to DK.

QOTD: About a year ago, I bought a case of the Vin Lobos, Crocodillo Cabernet, Paul Hobbs effort in Mendoza, Argentia. Otherwise, I usually stick with mixed cases for near term consumption.

Thanks again, for another great show.

QOD: Sutter Home Deaver Vineyards Lot2 1970
My wife bought me a case of 1966 Dow Port of which I have one bottle left.
It is now rose in color – light pink in fact with loads of dark sludgy sediment. It’s been interesting seeing the development.
Have bought mostly ports and sauternes by the case because I like them and they have the history of long age. Have 1977 Taylor, 85 Graham, mixed case of ’94s, 1983 Rieussec 1/2 bottles almost gone, 2001 Rieussec, Suideraut, d’Arche and a few others.
