    awesome guest and i have enjoyed davies wines before. im loving your enthusiasm and the fact that you are mixing it up heading into the new year.

    qotd: after episode 18 i tried decanting a wine and i have been decanting ALOT of wines since- mostly big reds and young rieslings.

    How neat! I can tell Jeffrey has been watching the Thunder show.

    QOTD: Absolutely, I agree that it’s important to decant red wine. The tannins soften and the beautiful aromas sort of appear out of nowhere. This happened recently with a wine that I thought was horrible out of the bottle but improved so much just sitting in my glass, er, cos I thought it was awful. After a while *chocolate* started to emanate from the glass!
    I bought a decanter recently but realize now that it’s really some sort of serving showpiece thing :-) . Need to go out and buy a proper wide-bottomed decanter.

    I collect antique decanters. I have about 20, glass, silver and glass etc from France, Italy and England. It’s great having friends over and decanting everything we are having that night in all the various sized and shaped decanters. Kinda like a mad hatters tea party but with wine.

    Waaaay solid episode GV! Absolutely awesome…Jeffrey Davies is a role model. I totally want to be that kind of wine expert in the future- living in France, drinking amazing wine!

    QOTD: Don’t have a decanter (yet) but will…I’m a part of the CKC. When I go home, I’ll try it out on some wine that I’ve bought from WL.

    And thanks for the rock Jeffrey…I just ordered a bottle and can’t wait to try it out!!

    What a great show!! I didn’t know of Jeffery Davies and now I do and some more about french bourdeaux which before this show I could spell and that was the extent of my knowledge.

    QOTD: I now have a decanter and I will decant though I am still leery of the whole chilled red wine thing but change is good so we will see….maybe for that Christmas show I keep hearing about….

    QOTD: I have no idea why anyone would NOT decant, I always decant my reds, even the cheap $15 wines.

    GV you all right? Your face looked a little swollen on today’s show. Regardless, that was a cool show. I’ve never decanted a wine; mainly because I don’t own a decanter. Where is a good place for a broke grad student to buy a decanter? Keep it real.

    Decanting is a big part of the wine preparation for us. If we don’t finish the complete bottle, which is rare, we pour it back into a smaller bottle with screw cap to preserve what’s left. We have several sizes depending on how much wine is left.

    QOTD: I decant every wine I drink always without exception- no reason not to!?

    GV: I gotta agree with Portland above; I was literaly yelling at my computer..”Gary, let him talk!” You are the man though; without your exhuberence we wouldn’t even be watching ;-) Love ya.
