    GV GV GV HMMMM…HMMM..HMM

This is an episode that I will be watching many more times in the future. It was so full of interesting information from both of you. You can really tell how much both of you are so in tune with what has happened and what is happening in that part of the wine world. I aplaud your respect for JD and his part of the wine world, and both JD and you for being so in love with what you two do. GREAT show………..

QOTD: I have never decant but after today, THAT IS CHANGING. At least for now.

So much great information to absorb in 30 minutes! I’ve never personally used a decanter. But I do use the Vinturi-which aerates the wine as it pours into the glass. Much faster than traditional decanting.

Excellent episode! Great guest. Decant… of course.

QOTD:I decant everything I drink even the cheap (inexpensive) stuff.

Gary V. please taste the Tre Donne Barberra. I thought I knew something about Bordeaux, after watching this I now know that I don’t.

Great show, great guest. When it first popped up and I saw 35 minutes I thought it would getting boring, but when it was over, I hoped it would go on longer. What a wealth of information.

    awesome episode.

gv man, i agree with others that you’ve gotta let a man like this get a sentence out. that said, he did provide a ton of great and interesting information, even if he got cut off 42 times ;D

qotd: i’ve decanted the bottle i’m drinking right now, and have a CdP for tomrorow night that i plan on doing the same with

    Hey Gary, a few things:

    - QOTD: I have 4 decanters and use them often.
    - It’s hard to find someone annoying on a written wine blog :)
    - My girlfriend is a huge Giants fan, and I am a big Lions fan (although it was easier to admit 7 games ago)…so it was even harder for me to admit how much I love the show!

    Happy Holidays!

That my friend was a great show. I usually decant my better wines, although I’m afraid to decant those 20 – 30 year old vintages. I let them open up in the glass.

Because I’m drinking my everyday stuff over two to three days I don’t feel it necessary to decant. This is probably the reason some of those $20 reds taste better the second night.

QOTD: I should definitely decanter more. I’ve found that it makes a world of difference, especially with younger wines. I pledge to Decanter more in 2008.

    GV-

Along the same lines as Michael Goldfine earlier…
We love you, but how about zippin’ your lip and allowing such a distinguished and knowledgeable guest speak without jumping on his lines and forcing the yucks…
I don’t wish to be unkind, but, regarding your claim that part of your success is that you respond to every email. Well, a reply that simply completes the loop but doesn’t address the question asked suggests that your going for quantity and not quality. I complain because I care.
Keep on keepin’ on – even if your Jets have fallen short.

No disrespect to you, but Jeffrey was awesome. I could listen to him all day. Best show! I am always looking for Bordeaux values.
    QOTD: I just did.

Very informative show! It’s fun to hear and see a man like Mr Davies, he leads a very interesting life…

QOTD: I do decant and he’s right, it does increase my enjoyment and pleasure.

    Awesome guest. Great Episode

QOTD: I admit that I don’t decant as often as I should. I will try to decant more often.

    Great show! Thank you both…
Since I’m more of a pop and pour person, I don’t have a decanter yet… I really should try decanting to see the difference. Thanks for the tips

Great Show and Guest Gary…but you should let your guest talk more as you had intended at the opening :-)
QOTD: I decant in the weekends when I have more time.

“They didn’t think they were weapons.”
    “They obviously don’t know you.”

    Classic.

I know there’s been a lot of discussion about decanting in the forums, and I’m part of the group that thinks that decanting can hurt some wines–and I’m not talking only about well-aged wines. For whatever reason, some wines just seem to fade away after a couple of hours in the decanter, so I don’t understand why some people insist on decanting “every wine,” or “almost every wine” they drink. Anyway, I guess my point is, you have to taste it and judge for yourself before you commit.

    Back to reality: Great Episode!!!

OK, OK, I will watch #18 and start decanting more often. I usually drink wine at home on weeknights and come right in from work and pour. As such, decanting conflicts with the instant gratification thing I like to have goin’ on.

Great episode, GV. Your bombastic self and Jeffrey’s soft-spoken nature, both focused on the wines. Terrific balance. I rate this episode a 92+.

QOTD: Just bought a decanter, so now we decant pretty much every time.

  24. December 19, 2007

    David M Roberts

Most enjoyable episode – The guests are a good thing as they bring different perspectives and dynamics to the cuvee.

QOTD: If decanting is wrong, I don’t wanna be right!

    chrisb

thanks for the decanting advice, haven’t really tried it but will in the future.
