I'm looking through all of the older episodes on German wines after looking through a set of 3,000 pictures I took along the Rhine river outside of Frankfurt, Germany last summer. The wines there grow along the cliffs, at--what looks from afar--to be close to 90 degree angles, but are really between 30-60 degree angles to flat earth. I LOVE German wines, particularly Trokken wines, and it was an amazing experience to be on some of the vineyards there. It was also amazing to buy bottles of wine for the equivalent of $10-20 there that would cost three or four times that here in America.

You should go to Germany to do an episode. Hit up Italy and Spain and Portugal too while you're there...

QOTD - yes, yes

Growing up, my parents pretty much only drank German Mosel Rieslings and Canadian icewines. I think the low alcohol level makes German Rieslings a great wine to drink with your family, even for smaller children. So when I went to college near the fingerlakes region, I was predisposed to like the fingerlakes rieslings (which I do). :)

QOTD: Yes, Yes, in fact I have had a number of them whilst in the Mosel Valley. Good stuff if you find what you like in the Trokken's or the Spatlese's

Coming in late here, but very much yes and yes. I started drinking German Rieslings 20+ years ago and love them. Among other things, I belong to the German Wine Society and also attended the German Wine Academy a few years ago. I think that Rieslings probably account for over 50% of the European wines in my cellar.
