Not planning a wine vacation. My daughter will graduate from high school this year and it is really her choice. She is not a drinker, nor a wine fan. Therefore, I won’t make her go.

I went to the Willamette Valley in late 2007 and tasted seveal Pinots at some of the small producers. That was a good trip.

Future plans – Toscana and Napa.

Thought in beginning you had finally grown playoff beard.

No wine vacations can live up to my trip to Italy last summer so I will hang near the WL this year.

Welcome back and can’t wait to watch more shows.

Nice ep Gary, I love NdA ever since having some at an Italian restaurant a couple of years ago. I also managed to get in a 1st post on Ep 386 while I was watching this!!!

Can you really retire “Sniffy Sniff”, wouldn’t that be admitting that there’s something wrong with it? – why retire something that works?

QOTD – Not planned yet, there’s an embryonic idea to do something French again, maybe Alsace, but it’s too early to tell.

Welcome back GV. Had to watch old episodes until you came back!

QOTD: No wine vacations. Just canceled April in Dry Creek. We have a short South Dakota vacation in August. I bring my own wine though LOL.

    Hello Gary,
    good to see you back!

QOTFD: I planned no special wine vacation in Europe but will visit the US soon and try some of the Washington State wines that are not available here.

‘Bout time bro. We missed you big time. Really don’t know much about Italian wines, but will be sure to include a bottle of the Nero D’avola. Looks like a can’t miss. QOTD- Still paying off last Octobers trip to BA Argentina, where we fell in love with their wines. Anticipating a return trip this fall, with the hopes of spending several days in the Mendoza/San Juan regions, where I can continue enjoy their wine and the beauty of their country.

    Chargers Rule

Good to have you back bro. I could have used some more props for my Chargers out of you. Don’t hate the Chargers because the Jets suck!

QOTD: My buddy is somm so I tag along with him every year, don’t know where we are going yet but it is always a great time.

Welcome back G and what a great ep … sounds like great vino and plan to taste one in the near future.
QOTD– We are going all out this summer by spending a week in Tuscany … Give me some ideas on where to go…. Thanks and keep bringing the thunder

    Mr.Ambassador

    Gary,

It’s great to see you back in the WLTV chair again. Chocolate covered cherries sound good so I’ll have to give the Nero D’avola a try.

QOTD – I need to actually plan a trip through Walla Walla to do some serious sampling; that’s my first-choice for a wine trip this year.

Have you lost weight Gary — welcome back. QOTD — just back from Napa for the first time(AWSOME — especially Alexander valley) really want to head up to Yakima & Walla Walla. BTW sniffy sniff can go but please never let oak monster retire — if this becomes the thunder-rioja show I will die on the inside.

Good having you back, Gary! QOTD: I will travel throughout Germany – so it will be a white year…

    Richard Bakker

    Welcome back Gary.
QOTD: hit you up at the wine library.

    Mike C

Nice episode… really learning a ton about these new (to me) regions through this show.

QOTD: Looking to head to The North Fork of Long Island for Wine Camp this summer…. but with my wife being a teacher and with all these snow days, she may be in school until July and we would miss it!

Maybe hanging with Gary V can be plan B….

  17. January 15, 2008

    Dongbo

Hopefully going to make a trip to the Santa Cruz mountains. Gotta give some love to Peter and Paul at Soquel Vineyards, a wonder small operation with a beautiful location right outside of Capitola. Also big ups to Mott, great show!

  18. January 15, 2008

    Omallley

Great show – I’m a big fan of Nero D’avola!

QotD – Okanagan Valley, in British Columbia. It’s close by…(well, for those of us in BC concerned about our Carbon Footprint at least), and has some excellent smaller producers making some excellent wines in varying styles.

  19. January 15, 2008

    RANDI

Gary! So nice to have you back!!

QOTD: Im planning a wine vacation this year…just undecided where…would welcome suggestions!

Great episode. I like that you often made the analogy of wine as different types of people!!

    Welcome home.

  20. January 15, 2008

    NC Carl

Qotd- No planned wine Vaca. But may be headed to Central Jersey in a couple months, wonder if I could get a side road trip…

    Brian

  22. January 15, 2008

    Capt M

Do an episode with the Vayniacs picks. Gary, you must try the Chateau Musar ‘99. It’s Library Code 35525

  23. January 15, 2008

    Capt M

Try the Chateau Musar, from Lebanon. Great show; another learning experience, since I’ve never had Nero. QOTD: Concepción and I pretty certainly will go to New England some time this year, and we’ll drive down as far as NYC, and then.. WL!! Maybe on Columbus day weekend, for the big tasting.

  24. January 15, 2008

    Oregon Sipper

QOTD: Wine vacation…hmmm well I am going to Florida next December…anything i should look for there?

  25. January 15, 2008

    David Dadekian

QOTD: With the baby due in about 5 weeks I’m not sure I’ll get anywhere this year, other than maybe the local vineyards in eastern CT and RI. Which aren’t bad, but not great. A trip to The Wine Library sounds fun though, maybe if we bring the baby to meet friends in NJ.
