(Trinchero 2001 -- great complexity. Still tasting the finish.) I haven't tried any others because I see it so rarely, but I definitely keep a look out. (And, now I'm going to watch for cab francs...) I'm also always on the watch for dry, green whites. Sauv. blancs, of course, but they're so hard to do well, especially here in Zin country. The first one I had was about a month ago and it was the rosé you tasted on this episode. I wasn’t real big on it. I suspected it was because it was a rosé which I’m not real used to. As I rewatch this episode I’m having my second petit verdot. It’s my first red PV and the first bottle from Wine Library that I’ve ever had. I made an automobile-pilgrimage to WL a little over a month ago. It’s a 2005 Casale de Gigio. My first impression isn’t real good. It has a funny taste that’s strangely familiar. I think the rosé had this taste too which suggests to me that PV isn’t my thing. I’m going to finish this comment after I let it breath for a couple more hours. No I don’t like it. Both PVs I’ve had are giving me some sort of bad association—medicine or something sick related. I don’t like it. I know one or two are not enough to pass permanent judgment on a varietal but I think it’s going to be a while before I go out of my way again to get a PV, especially since I usually like (to varying degrees) almost every red wine I try. However, the price needs to be a little higher because of the late maturity and the potential in cooler years that there is no crop! We intend to market it as 'The Merlot Verdot'TM and 'The Cab Verdot' TM.
