QOTD – I have an older brother and sister, and they’re pretty great…
Hope it was a good birthday.

That was an awesome episode! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AJ!!! That’s incredible that Gary saved a bottle of Opus One for you for all those years. I’m going to cellar some wines for my niece so she can have a similar experience when she is old enough to drink wine legally.

QOTD: No, I have a younger sister. I am the awesome older sibling. :-D

    QOFD:

I’m the eldest. My younger brothers look up to me because I’m nuts and if they don’t, I’ll kick their asses.

    Happy birthday, AJ.

Great show guys! Happy Birthday AJ!!!

    QOTD:

AJ is a cutie. Great to have him on the show.
My daughter also just turned 21 (less than a week ago). She, too, is a CKC, but she landed in Africa for a study abroad semester on the day of her birthday, so she won’t be trying too many wines for a while. Ah well. I’ll treat her to something yummy when she returns home.
Happy (belated) birthday to AJ and my beautiful deeter!

Fun episode! I find it hard to believe that today was your college student brother’s first sip of alcohol.

    Q-I’m the oldest of three.

    AJ!!!!!!!I wish I was 21 again!
    Happy Birthday!!
I LOVED watching you both..was fun…not just to watch the dynamic between you both, but it is fun to experience wine with someone for the first time!
    QOTD: Yes…older brother..he’s usually awesome.

Happy 21st AJ! When I was 21, I was drinking Sutter Home White Zin….you are lucky that your family is in the business! Now that I’m much older and wiser….I prefer a lovely Pinot Noir or a good bordeaux with a rack of lamb. Wait till GV tells you what cheese goes best with the wine. Cheers!

Gary, i think you should stick this over in the “new to wine” section.
It’s good to watch someone new to wine not pick up on things you seem to find so easy.

I have an older brother (2 years) who is good fella but would need about 12 coffees a day to be like Gary.

Loved the guest appearance from AJ. Happy 21st. Good to have an enthusiastic wine guide like Gary on your team.

Belated wishes of a happy birthday to AJ. Congrats on a great episode!

QOTD: Older brother by 1 year, similarly awesome but not to the same extent.

Happy birthday to AJ! Gary it’s great to see once again your continued focus on the importance of family.
QOTD: I’m the oldest of four in my family. We are all close, and continue to support the concept of family that our parents taught us.

Good to see the Gobelsburger, had the 2005 at the end of last year (although only rated it an 84, possibly being harsh). Gru-V is worth getting into, seek out Willi Brundelmayer.

“Mott, Link it up” in tandem, that was worth replaying :)

QOTD – I am the awesome elder brother (just don’t say that too loudly if he’s around!). My brother Derek is 4 years younger, he’s pretty cool though.

    Best. WLTV. Ever.
Why? A number of reasons. I’ll list them:
    1. AJ admits his ignorance. Wine is hard. There is more than a little sensitivity and effort required to get to any kind of place of competence. AJ coming on lets us really learn wine basics. It also shows Gary at his strongest..Gary, the educator.
    2. Gary, the educator. Loving a subject doesn’t necessarily make you a good teacher. Gary has often shown excellent teaching ability, but (I think many would admit) sometimes frenetic. Again, by being forced to be basic, we get a framework/beginning for learning.
    3. Gary and AJ have a heart. You can see that these two love each other. I mean, besides the learning, this ends up being compelling tv as well.

I could go on. Best show. My advice, bring AJ back periodically, you know, for “Wine School 101″.

qotd – very cool, but not this cool.

Great show, I really enjoyed watching the interaction between the two of you. Your parents should be very proud of the relationship the two of you have developed and the respect you both have for your family.

Woohoo, happy birthday (yesterday) AJ!! Fun show to watch.

QOD – Just two younger sisters, but they’re pretty cool so I’ll keep ‘em.
