Love that accent, would never have been able place it. Very cool chick Gary!

QOTD: Have always wanted to go to Switzerland…for the food, wine, and architecture. (and of course the people) Will hopefully make it over someday.

P.S. I agree with Happyuke. Bring on the B.C. wines!

Oh man, one of my all tim favorite eps… right after AJ’s b’day! Sophia is a serious straight shooter! I loved it! And… was that the first ever PS in an episode? Ya, I certainy liked the thundercat tasting. Keep it fresh guys, good job.

I know very little about Switzerland, other than it basically standing for precision. They should make cars. Wait, do they?

QOTD – Hot swiss chicks and hot swiss chicks!

These Swiss wines exude high quality. I especially like what I perceive as truth in their manufacturing. I doubt Mr. Rolland is anywhere to be found with these wines. It is too bad for me that they are in such limited distribution, as I doubt I will be able to find them locally.

    Sophie’s laugh was inspiring.

QOTD: Sorry, I don’t know anything about your wines. I would think Italy and Germany would have the most influence on your wines. I’m not sure if anyone cares.

Very informative show, thank you Sophie!

QOTD: I have had the pleasure of visiting Switzerland and I agree that it is a beautiful country. I even had the pleasure of drinking Swiss wine in Geneva and Gstaad, when I got to Lucerne, we tried the beer! Would definitely go back. Cheers!

I must admit I have never tried any Swiss wines, though I do know they exist. Like you said, these are not marketed very much here for economic reasons. I don’t think the price points were all that bad. You can sure find domestic ones more costly that don’t match up. Sophia was very charming and pleasant to listen to. Thanks for the show.

OH MY, THE GUESTS ARE SO HOT THESE DAYS.

I learned something Sophie, thanks! I will seek the wine out.

QOTD: You are a fine ambassador for your country. I want to go now!

    Still waiting for BC wines

    Cheers!

    P.S. Go Giants!

Great show…we’ll have to look for Swiss wines. Thank you Sophia and Gary.

QOTD: Well, Carl’s been to Switzerland…spent some time in Montreux and Geneva. He didn’t drink wine though. I know very little.

Sophia was so cool, she kept right up with you!

QOTD: When I think of Switzerland I think of upscale quality, and beautiful scenery.

Switzerland is one of the most beautiful places in the world bar none. That being said it is expensive but if one can afford it one should go. The wines I had there were incredible and in comparison were not that expensive. Certainly not Spanish or Portuguese prices but well worth the price.

I enjoyed lots of Swiss wine last time I was in Zurich… thanks for reminding me of some great times, guys! I definitely want to go back.

good show, informative and pleasant guest. PA actually sells the Neuchatel.

QOTD: I know that the swiss may by a referendum of 100k revise their constitution, they didn’t let women vote till 1971, they get a new leader every year, and they also grow some gamay merlot and riesling/sylvaner….

  17. January 30, 2008

    Wine Not?

Great show, Gary and Sophia, although like the other Vayniacs I am jealous that I can’t taste those wines as well!

When you mentioned “Oeil de Perdrix”, it made me remember my visit to Napa a couple of years ago. We stopped by Trinchero/Sutter Home and they had one of the original white zin bottles there and guess what they called it? Oeil de Perdrix! No kidding! The guy at the tasting counter said that the name was too intimidating so they changed it. Crazy, huh?

QOTD: I’ve been to Switzerland twice and loved it, but never tasted any Swiss wines while there. It is a beautiful country though!

Good espisode – it can’t be easy getting Swiss wines across, but Sophia, with little bit of you, totaly whet our appetitie. Congratulations to Sophie for getting more than a couple of words in over the great Vaynerchuck!

Now you know you’ve gotta adopt the Thundcat tasting method in one of your (more crazy) episodes! C’mon you know it’s gotta be done!

QOTD: Learnt to ski in Switzerland, lovely villages beautiful mountains, unfortunately I wasn’t into wine then (being just 17), but I’m going back to ski again – This time I’ll definately be checking out the vin.

Great show, I will definitely look for the rose. Just so you know, some Chaselese is grown in the Puget Sound appellation of Washington State. Mount Baker Vineyards. It is tolerant of the cool, wet climate up here.

QOTD: If you are like Gary, and like the funky stuff. Go to the Swiss Alps wear you will have razor sharp crisp air and step in the cow dung I have visited Switzerland several times (4). My little brother lives in Zurich he married a Swiss girl.

    Atreyu

    Nice episode!
I am curious about swiss wine and I might try some in the future.
QOTD: I’d like to go there because of the landscape, I love mountains!

Very fun and educational episode. Thanks for spending your time with us, Sophia!

QOTD: I was lucky enough to take a short trip through Switzerland when I was a teenager. Traveled through the Alps, and ended up spending a few days in the Lake Geneva area. It is perhaps the most romantic, beautiful place I’ve ever visited. Gorgeous setting, wonderful food, and the very first place I ever had a sip of wine! I don’t know what kind of wine it was, other than being white (was only 16, so what did I know about anything???). I have always wanted to go back, and someday I’m sure to visit. Next time, I’ll know what wines to try. :)

Careful Gary: What Europeans call a lime tree, we call a linden tree, i.e. not the same tree.
