qotd: All I really know about is some of their wines, and the main reason for me goin there would be to see the wineries. The history would be nice too
Wow just had a bottle of Chateau D'Auvernier Neuchatel yesterday. LOVE that you threw the spotlight on Switzerland wines, some killer quality there, wines that aren't explored nearly as much as they should be, but the prices are high.

One thing, Chasselas is not ONLY in Switzerland, it's made as a varietal in Alsace, the one made by Domaine Schoffitt is particularly good. Also you can find it under the Pouilly-Sur-Loire appellation in Eastern Loire Valley France too.

OH MY, THE GUESTS ARE SO HOT THESE DAYS.

I learned something Sophie, thanks! I will seek the wine out.

QOTD: You are a fine ambassador for your country. I want to go now!

  • I must admit I have never tried any Swiss wines, though I do know they exist. Like you said, these are not marketed very much here for economic reasons. I don’t think the price points were all that bad. You can sure find domestic ones more costly that don’t match up. Sophia was very charming and pleasant to listen to. Thanks for the show.

Very informative show, thank you Sophie!

QOTD: I have had the pleasure of visiting Switzerland and I agree that it is a beautiful country. I even had the pleasure of drinking Swiss wine in Geneva and Gstaad, when I got to Lucerne, we tried the beer! Would definitely go back. Cheers!

    Sophie’s laugh was inspiring.

QOTD: Sorry, I don’t know anything about your wines. I would think Italy and Germany would have the most influence on your wines. I’m not sure if anyone cares.

These Swiss wines exude high quality. I especially like what I perceive as truth in their manufacturing. I doubt Mr. Rolland is anywhere to be found with these wines. It is too bad for me that they are in such limited distribution, as I doubt I will be able to find them locally.

  • Oh man, one of my all tim favorite eps… right after AJ’s b’day! Sophia is a serious straight shooter! I loved it! And… was that the first ever PS in an episode? Ya, I certainy liked the thundercat tasting. Keep it fresh guys, good job.

I know very little about Switzerland, other than it basically standing for precision. They should make cars. Wait, do they?

Love that accent, would never have been able place it. Very cool chick Gary!

QOTD: Have always wanted to go to Switzerland…for the food, wine, and architecture. (and of course the people) Will hopefully make it over someday.

P.S. I agree with Happyuke. Bring on the B.C. wines!

Very interesting, they were making wine at that winery before George Washington’s grandfather was born! I love the history of these places. And her accent was pretty hot 😉

QOTD – on the subject of Switzerland I’m neutral.

  • Another special guest winner! It takes a strong personality to hang with GVNC and Sophia definitely stepped up to the challenge. But, I think it’s going to take a little more convincing to get her to on board with the Jets.

QOTD: I absolutely love Switzerland. It’s one of my favorite places in the world. Absolutely gorgeous and one of the cleanest countries I’ve ever been too. It’s amazing to visit a place where the people take so much pride in their country.
Unfortunately I am lacking on Swiss wine knowledge, but it’s on my list to experience. And one thing you all should experience is beautiful Lucerne Switzerland and a health climb up Mt. Pilatus!

I was married in Switzerland (Luzern), though I have no relatives there. I drink Swiss wines when I can find them. As a child I lived on Lake Geneva for a year when my father worked for the WHO. The beauty of Switzerland is almost surreal. It rules in my book.

Did you see at 5:20 when Sophia looked like she was going to drink the wine? She was actually using her mouth to inhale the wine since 30% of our sense of smell is in our mouths. We never see Gary do this, not that it matters. He probably doesn’t need to do it anyway! In any case, it’s a very interesting method of sniffing wine and works very well! Try it sometime!

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Another WLTV CLASSIC. Sophia was awesome and, at least according to GV, apparently the wines were quite good as well. And the bonus video at the end was HILARIOUS! Thanks, again, GV and Mott-ster!!

QOTD: Hello Sophia. Hopefully you will actually read these responses. I LOVE Switzerland. I make 2-3 trips per year to Geneva on business and I have travelled around the area quite a bit. I’ve been going to Geneva for about 20 years, believe it or not, so it is like a second home to me. I have definitely had Chasselet before, but I don’t believe I have tried yours – that will change soon as I will be in Geneva during the first week of April. I look forward to trying this and some of your other fine wines. And of course, I will be having some Raclette and some fondue champignon!

Fantastic episode!!! I loved the guest and all the info she brought about these wines. It is a darn shame that we cannot get many of these in the U.S., but maybe one day. Thanks, Sophia for all the info!

QOTD: I don’t know much about Switzerland, or it’s people, so I guess I need to read up!

  • Ferenc Illesy

Amazing episode with an amazing guest.

I (personally) would love to see more wine makers come and tell us about their vineyards, their special practices and make us even more interested in trying out their products.

    Good job Gary!

    Great episode,
She really held her own with the GV intimidation factor. Very informative as well.

QOTD: I plan on visiting Switzerland in a few months and I will definitely be searching out a bottle of this chateau’s wines.

Gary….late a as usual, but better than never. I like the whole small vineyard coming in and tell us their story and sharing some of their wine. Make for some unique viewing. Too bad you cannot swing a deal with these folks to get a few cases in so we can order them.

Qotd: Not sure I am headed to switzerland anytime soon, but if I end up their I will seek out some vineyards.
