My blogs are medical and my patients don’t want to hear or even know about wine as many of them are fundamentalists who don’t drink and my last video sucked so it is unlikely I will be doing either. I tell everyone I meet at wine tastings about WLTV and most wine purveyors have never heard of you so I hope it helps. Got my son involved and he is basically a CKC in NYC and he has gotten together a wine tasting group based on your videos. That’s about the best I can do.
This episode wasn’t one that did much for me though. I really don’t like and have never liked Gewürtztraminer or South African Chenin Blanc though I love French Chenin Blancs and I have stored 6 or 7 Viogniers that are better values than the one you tasted.

I was somewhat puzzled about yesterday’s episode. While the young woman was nice enough and their wines get good write-ups, getting Swiss wines in the US is quite difficult and I still can’t find a US purveyor who will ship to Virginia. The Pinot Gris sounded great and I would love to get some but can’t find it anywhere but at the winery and they can’t ship here.

I did not know the boy scouts roasted mushrooms? I’m pretty sure we roasted a marshmallow or two, but mushrooms? nyet…fun show G… love the hummus
QOTD… guess it’s time to pulled out the ‘ol sandwich board and stand on the street corner ;)

I have an iPod and download them every night and listem to the Thunder show on the way to work each day. Lots of fun and beats any radio we get.

QOTD: I have been telling people already, but maybe an email to the friends who I know enjoy wine and set up some “LINKS” to a few of the fun shows. Easy to pick from. I have to be carefull though as there are not a lot of Jets fans in Hawaii.

I also was never aware of all of the various groups/blogs/forums etc until I started watching your show. Thanks

    Keep it up.

GV – thanks for the veggie show! QOTD – Try and do something on my blog! Which 9 people look at every 3 months – but its grassroots baby.

Good show GV. QOTD: Word of mouth, no fancy Blog stuff etc. Not an Apple Fan, you can give mine to someone else. How about a bottle of the sold out Barth Rene?

Keep up the great work GV and Mott. Later.

Gary, the Post article is very complimentary and right on. I love the way you are not afraid to dis a wine if it doesn’t fit your palette. Too many wine critics try to say something nice about a wine even when it is a looser. Keep up the good work.

You struck a bell with me on the Gewurtz; it always reminds me of Tide laundry soap.

My wife wants me to go vegetarian. It wouldn’t really bother me except that there aren’t any vegetables that taste good. I think even if I went vegan I would still be rolling deep with the red wines.

QOTD: I’m not going to do anything cause I’m lazy and I’m not an Apple person and I don’t know crap about video. But I wish you the best of luck!!

That Gewurz sounds awesome! Will add that to my list of wines to look for.
This is yet another e.g. of excellent, passionate wine programming. YOU ROCK!
So… what is that up your sleeve… is that another 101 WINES! :-) Heh heh

QOTD: I wish I could make a video, I think it would be funny :-) , but don’t have the equip, so a blog entry on my nascent blog or on myspace will have to do. I already gush to everyone I know about WLTV btw!

Good episode, lots of fun. Really want an Apple TV!!!!!
QOTD I’ll do my best to get WLTV out there more, I already do a lot of word of mouth, anytime someone says wow that shirt is out there, what is it? WLTV gotta watch it if not for me do it for Gary.

I´ll do my best if it´s for the Thunder Show… and an Apple tv! WLTV and Apple products… what a beautiful marriage of 2 of my favorite things. Thanks GV.

My girl is going to love this. She’s not white wine crazy, but loves her veggie food. We’ll have to throw some Alsace into the rotation. Thanks for the recommendations!!!

Yeah, I’ll do something, so long as it doesn’t require video equipment or other tech stuff I don’t own. A blog I got, so that’s cool.

Good catch Tom L. I think Gary was a member of the Boy Scout troop that had a scout master who was at Woodstock. Would explain a lot, wouldn’t it? LOL…just kidding.

Did everyone catch the GI Joe Cobra Commander comment? Did you ever notice that in your average GI Joe episode, hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition were exchanged by the GI Joe’s and the Cobra Troops but no one ever got killed….How did that happen?

  15. January 31, 2008

    Tom L

What Boy Scout troop did you belong to that roasted mushrooms around the campfire??? We always roasted marshmellows. ;-D

Am not a computer guy, so I will continue to spread the word one person at a time. To demonstrate how pitiful I am, I don’t even have a HDTV. Even if I did, I wouldn’t know how to hook up the Apple TV. Another nice show Gary. We eat Vegetarian about 4 or 5 days at our house, and yeah, some of the stuff if really good.

QOTD: If I can get ahold of a video camera, it’ll be BIG…but until then I won’t give away any ideas here. Either way, no matter who wins, I hope that innumerable Vayniacs turn on as many peeps as possible to the Thunder Show on its big #400. Cheers.

I LOVE THE GIGANTO POUR! Who would drink that if you didn’t anyway?
Actually there are probably a lot of homeless dudes on the streets of Jersey that would love to finish those off for you! Maybe you should do a tasting with the vagrants?
Thanks for another great show Gary. I’m not sure how I can help promote, other than telling everyone I know about how awesome you are, but maybe I’ll think of something?

Gary – I gotta take you through the shuk in Jerusalem when you come to Israel and show you how to eat falafel and hummus and tachina (not tachini!).

And what, no Yarden or Carmel Gewurztraminer? Perhaps a Tabor or Teperberg with the tachina, Pelter with the pita? Although I admit that I prefer a beer with my falafel. I can just imagine going into my local hummus joint and ordering a Chard with the hummus. I’ll probably get kicked out!

Let’s have some Mediterranean wines with the Mediterranean food!

But perhaps this will inspire me for a new blog post.

But thanks for showing us veggies some love!

I’m definitely going to try to spread the thunder. I have no idea how, but I’d really like to be able to watch and/or discuss the show with friends. I’m sure I’ll figure something out!

On a separate note, I just read a BBC news article that says that some researchers at CalTech have found that the more expensive a wine is, the more the average person will like it. The article’s here (hope it’s ok for me to post links):

What? No lychees in the gewurtztraminer? Probably the only wine I can identify blind most of the time……..

Qotd – I am not computer savvy enough to do a blog, or video “link it up to Mott”! I can’t even seem to get a facebook account. However, I will tell all the folks coming over Friday for my 53rd trip around the sun party that I owe much of my wine tasting knowledge to this guy Gary on the internet. I am going to serve some GV tested thunder boomers to my friends who come to help me celebrate.

I am a strong believer in wine showing it’s ageing potential by how long it holds together after the first glass. 6 days is an epic wine! 5 days is a 10 year wine, 3 days is a 5 year wine, 1 day is a don’t hold back pour it all now wine (and sometimes when we experiment with new cheap wines it is a pour it all…down the drain wine!

As always a super show. You guys have skills, whether they like it or not!
