Wow Gary, I can’t believe you found a butterscotch aroma in the Hermitage….last night we drank a Sangiovese and I told my husband that I got a butterscotch from my sniffy sniff…and, well, I felt sorta foolish since I thought only a buttery Chardonnay was supposed to give a butterscotch aroma. So thanks for the reassurance: a red CAN hint of butterscotch. That’s cool. I can’t believe how much fun it is having you as a wine friend.

I TOTALLY agree about palate changing. Mine seems to be on a 6 to 12 month cycle. That is why I love wine.

If $110 is a bit much to spend on a bottle, it’s fun to find someone (who you like) and split the cost – and the bottle – over a nice snack or dinner.

QOTD – my prediction – good food and wine!! There’s a game on?????

great long show! hey, i left a comment on the AJ b-day show that somehow is just floating in cyberspace somewhere???

love Hermitage like you do. have not had any Delas though? how long would lay this bad boy sideways before serious drinking? 5 years?

Ernie Shavers reference and then you reference your own 24/7/365 dome? in any ES mention show NO OTHER DOME should be referenced dude!!!

Go Giants. what a ride this month has been. really, really special and poignant for me b/c of my family. in my head i am also very concerned about the 1stQ turnover and 14-0, quick KO. NE is awesome. we have to run the football with purpose and live off of play action.

Thanx for giving in to the crowd with the advent of the “Link it up Mott” tee. I will be riding the Giants wave to a hopeful victory over the Pats!! Great enthusiasm on the show today!!!

Normally I just like to lurk but today I want to come out of the weeds to let you know that this was the best Thunder show I have ever seen. No special tricks just all Gary all the time. Keep up the great work.
I need to go and find a good Hermitage.

Great show. I am going to have to splurge on the Hermitage! If you have a spare wristband, I will send pix from all over the globe as I fly internationally for FedEx.
QOTD: The G-men will somehow pull it off. 21-20!

Love it! Great episode! I’m intrigued by your “palate shift” and appreciation of a new world style fruit bomb. Kudos for embracing your palate!

QOTD: Since I know nothing about US football, I’m going with New England just because they had a perfect record this season.

Great show!! I am a big fan of the Cote de Rotie. I have only had one Hermitage so I am going to roll with it today and buy the Delas.

For my husband’s sake, I am hoping for a GIANTS win! (GO MOTT!) . But in case it’s a blowout, we’re also doing a super bowl pool to make the game more interesting.

    Great show as always!

“Mott Link It Up” should be pointing down cause that’s always what you do – you point down .. not up.

QOTD – Even here in Cyprus I know of the NFL and watch 4-5 games a week via satellite so …
    Patriots beat Giants 34-10

A buddy and I tried a Freemark Bosche about 10 years ago and both thought their regular Cab Sauv was just as good for around 30-35% less.

QotD: I’m a Giants fan through and through so of course I’m picking the Giants. Basically Eli Manning needs to be perfect, and the Giants vaunted Defense needs to step up, unlike it did in their last meeting [can't expect to win a game when the opposing offense hangs 38 on you]. Warmer climates, better field, the defense gets to Brady and rattles him.

Awesome episode GV! Nice to see you having some well-deserved fun with more expensive wines.

On a side note: the hammer and sickle people got rid of the Tsars. And a couple other millions. :(

I would love to have the money to try the Hermitage. As to the question of the day, I am a Jets fan, but rooting for the Giants to win. However, I think that the Patriots will likely beat the Giants in the Superbowl.

GV nice show today brother … I learn something new every episode. Now that i know that Hermitage is Syrah based I’ll definitely have to seek some of these wines out, also the red grape / white grape pairing is definitely intriguing.

Speaking of which, can i borrow 110 bones? I’ll pay you back when I hit the lotto jackpot. Man! Talk about some serious wine.

QOTD: Giants 35 Pats 1 … yeah it’s not technically possible but … we’ll see.
