GV first of I am a big E-A-G-L-E-S fan so I hate both of these teams but I think the Pats are going to crush them 42-14….

great episode, that hermitage is going to be my next splurge wine. and it was only a matter of time before the link it up mott shirt happened…

qotd – pats up early, g-men with an impressive midgame comeback to take the lead by halftime, moss shut down the entire second half but brady connects with welker enough for the pats to dominate the 4th quarter and take it

Love how you got all “Wine Geek” while talking about Hermitage

    QOTD- Patriots

Great episode. Interesting to hear you talk about a changing pallet (and see it change during one episode). The mind and tongue are quite a team and what better to test it with than wine?

    Scott the ex wine dude

Cimicky does this type all of the time, a bit too much

    QOTD – Sorry, I don’t watch baseball

    :-p

    Gar,
Great show! I am going to have to get some Delas! My prediction:
Giants upset the Pats and take revenge, 35-31. I will be getting ready to party with the Bubbles!

Wow. The Hermitage sounds like it would be the kind of thing to have once in your life at least, but 100+ bones – yikes! Pats 24, Giants 14. Perfection will be achieved.

I expect the Pats to win, but hope for an exciting game.

Easily within my top five favorite EPs of all time Gary. Absolutely L O V E D this show. Your words about Hermitage and the description of the Delas nose made me verklempt and nostalgic, because for me they are the most special in the world and they have marked most of my “sublime wine” experiences over the last twenty years. Many thanks for opening some true thunder wines.

Pats by a touchdown & a fieldgoal. As much as I want to see the Giants wreck their record. Oh, how I love to see history made!

Love your show. I agree completely that the Syrah/white grape blends (especially from Oz) are absolutely great. Cali producers need to start moving in this direction.

As to the question: Answer is … I think the Pats win but I would love to see them lose after all the hype. I hate Bellichek and Brady. To see the smugness wiped off of their faces would be better than your $110 bottle of Hermitage.

    To David Kellner:

D’arenberg’s Laughing Magpie is an excellent shiraz/viognier blend!

    Gary,
The Butter Bandit was spotted this past summer in a 2004 Rully from Pierre Yves Colin-Morey. My notes simply say, “Popcorn!” And not just popcorn, but buttered popcorn – think Buttered Popcorn flavored Jelly Bellies.

QOTD: Giants 31, Pats 27 – No love for cheaters!

    Go Steelers 2008/2009!!!!!

Gary, you’re on a roll. Another great episode.

The Day’s Query: Patriots 30, Giants 16; effectively over by half-time.

Best regards from WLTV’s biggest(?) American expat fans in Turkey.

QOTD: Patriots all the way…they have come too far to lose a history making game!!!!

    Andrew Kellner

great show, haven’t had a hermitage in a while, thanks for reminding me of that. also you’ve got my interest peaked to try some shiraz/viognier (no, not the Torbreck Descendant, more likely the Carina).

QOTD: Jets, oh, wait…sorry. The Giants are the Davids, however, I think Goliath is going to win, especially if they score first. 27-10

  19. February 2, 2008

    Hamid

    Patriots 24
    Giants 10
but I will hope that the pats lose because I dislike their entire team (excluding Samuels).

I am totally with you on J. Miller and his ratings. I had a Cayuse Tempranillo rated at 96 and it was 80 points on a good day. Dumping Ermitage??? You are killin me.

Being a GB Pack fan, I believe that the only upside of them losing in the NFC Championship game to the Giants is that it’s not them who will be crushed by the Patriots… Good luck Eli. I think dad Archie may wanna get your bedroom ready back down on the Bayou; you’re gonna be running home crying.

    First time lurker!

    Pats 42 Giants 7

    Hope for great commercials!
